Cleveland Police is urgently appealing for help to trace missing 80-year-old Gloria Ann Clarke from Eaglescliffe.

Gloria was last seen leaving Meadowfield Drive in Eaglescliffe at around 5.45am this morning (31st December).

She was last seen wearing a blue Regatta coat with a poppy badge and black Skechers trainers.

Officers are concerned for Gloria’s welfare and are asking anyone with information to contact Cleveland Police on 101 as a matter of urgency, quoting reference number 254776.

Officers leading the search for missing 80-year-old Gloria Ann Clarke now believe she may have entered the River Tees, and the focus of their investigation is now in the River Tees and surrounding areas.

Gloria was last seen leaving Meadowfield Drive in Eaglescliffe at around 5.45am on the morning of Sunday 31st December, New Year’s Eve.

Enquiries are currently ongoing, and officers are asking anyone with information to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting reference number 254776.

Police officers leading the search for 80-year-old Gloria Clarke, who has been missing since 31 December 2023, can confirm they have CCTV footage that shows a woman matching her description entering the River Tees.

Cleveland Police, along with colleagues from Cleveland Fire Brigade, Tees River Rescue and Tees River Trust, continue to focus their search on the River Tees and the surrounding riverbank areas.

Gloria’s family are aware of this development in the investigation and are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time.

The river is particularly deep at the moment and extremely fast flowing due to recent weather. We would ask informal search parties to stand down due to these hazardous conditions around the riverbank.

Sad update RIP Gloria.
Officers received a call shortly after 7pm yesterday, Monday 18 March, after the body of a woman was found in the River Tees near to Surtees Bridge in Stockton.

Whilst no formal identification has taken place, the family of missing 80-year-old Gloria Clarke from Yarm, has been informed and continue to be supported by specially trained officers.

Our thoughts remain with the family at this difficult time.
