We’re continuing to appeal for the public’s help to find Katherine Corrigan, 27, who’s missing in #Chelmsford.

We’re carrying out extensive enquiries to locate her safely and we continue to appeal for the public's help.

Katherine, pictured, is about 5ft 7ins tall, of slim build and was last seen wearing a grey and black cardigan, green trousers and cream shoes.

Supt Sharn Taylor, who is overseeing the work going on to find Katherine, said: “It has now been 48 hours since Katherine was reported missing to us and our concerns for her are continuing to grow.

“Much of our activity has focused in the Broomfield area of Chelmsford, where she was last seen. At this stage, she has still not been found.

“I would continue to appeal to people in Chelmsford to please familiarise yourself with Katherine’s picture and please report any sightings to us as quickly as possible.”

Supt Taylor added: “We also know Katherine has strong links to the #Maldon district and may have travelled there from Chelmsford and I would also urge residents across that district to please report any sightings to us.”

If you see her or know where she is, please call us immediately on 101.

Good point. It probably is. Broomfield (where Katherine was last seen) is the site of a large (800-bed) acute district general hospital.
Given that these images of Katherine were obtained so quickly or at all suggests that someone knew she was at this location right before she went missing. Visiting someone? Attending an appointment, then went missing soon after?

I know Ingatestone well. Lot of open land and hedges leading from rail station - if that was how she travelled - down Hall Lane towards Ingatestone Hall.

There is sad news coming through about Katherine. Essex Police have issued the following statement:

"We are now in a position to confirm a body found in Ingatestone on New Year’s Day is that of Katherine Corrigan.

Katherine, 27, was reported missing from the Broomfield area of Chelmsford on 22 July.

Katherine’s death is not being treated as suspicious and we are preparing a file for the coroner.”

I wonder why the police report was taken down in September if she's likely been located on NYD? Are family able to withdraw a report?

We are now in a position to confirm a body found in Ingatestone on New Year’s Day is that of Katherine Corrigan.

Katherine, 27, was reported missing from the Broomfield area of Chelmsford on 22 July.

Since that time we have carried out an extensive investigation to find her, including dozens of officers from across the force and the Essex Search and Rescue Team, reviewing hours of CCTV, and working with neighbouring forces and the British Transport Police.

On New Year’s Day we received a call from a member of the public reporting a woman’s body had been found in Little Hyde Lane, Ingatestone.

Inspector Sam Girdlestone said: “My thoughts, and those of everyone at Essex Police, are with Katherine’s family at this incredibly difficult time.

“This is not the outcome that anyone was hoping for and we are continuing to support her family.

“Katherine’s death is not being treated as suspicious and we are preparing a file for the coroner.”

This is so sad that she was missing for so long and only found now.

Due to the person who found her reporting to have found a woman's body, I wonder if she was alive for some time after July? Moo
