Can you help find missing Libby Squire (21) last seen getting into a taxi outside Welly club in Hull at around 11pm last night?

She is 5ft 7ins tall with shoulder length brown hair and was wearing a black long sleeved top, leather jacket and black denim skirt with lace.

Concern is growing for Libby Squire, a University of Hull student, who was seen getting into a taxi outside Welly on Beverley Road at around 11pm on Thursday, January 31.


She was later seen on the street, near the junction with Beresford Avenue at about 11.45pm, when a man got out of his car to stop and help her.

In the timeline published in the Hull Daily Mail it says Libby got into a taxi near The Welly at around 11am and arrived at Wellesey Avenue at 11:29pm. The distance between the two places is approx 1.3 miles with an expected journey time of 4 minutes.

Why did it take the taxi so long to travel such a short distance (virtually a straight line)?

In the timeline published in the Hull Daily Mail it says Libby got into a taxi near The Welly at around 11am and arrived at Wellesey Avenue at 11:29pm. The distance between the two places is approx 1.3 miles with an expected journey time of 4 minutes.

Why did it take the taxi so long to travel such a short distance (virtually a straight line)?

The general answer to this question is "I don't know" but it's been discussed a lot and the conclusion most of us have agreed on is that the time she was picked up isn't entirely accurate as her friends most remember it being approximately 11pm but it could have been, say, 11:15 OR Libby felt sick in the taxi and it had to pull over or something on the way back. Either way, taxi driver has been cleared, and she was definitely sighted alive after the taxi, so this shouldn't really be of much concern.

The concensus is that the starting time was an estimate and not exact time. The ending time seems spot on to the minute and may have been given by the taxi driver from his device. Not sure why he would also not have an exact pickup time but it seems the pickup time was an estimate maybe from some other witnesses near the bar.

Thats my understanding. Please correct me if anyone knows differently.

This article states she was last seen at 12.09 - do we know by whom? Just thinking if it’s CCTV of her in PR’s car, surely they would have arrested him sooner?

Likely because the 11 pm is not accurate....the friend who put Libby in the taxi may not have looked at her watch, and said "around 11". Libby may also have been sick on the way and needed a stop.

11pm ish Libby gets in taxi at Welly
11:29 Taxi drops her near home on Wellesley Av. Neighbours saw her stumbling in street.
11:40 - 11:45 caught on CCTV on bench. Around this time grey beardy man stopped to offer assistance, she declined, police have cleared him
12:05 possible sighting Beresford Road
12:09 police say Libby had left the bench by now
12:15 ish dark and eerie screams coming from park
12:30 ish scream and banging gate heard from Heathcote St near Libbys house.

I have to agree - by just what I have read in media he doesn't come across as a hardened criminal - I got the impression if he did do it - he seems the type that would crumble in minutes JMO

Seemingly as the police are not appealing for any other crimes that took place that night in that area

My concern was that something traumatic may have happened between her pick up and drop off. That might explain her wandering about, if she was in shock.

I understand the wandering about could be fully explained by her alleged drunken state combined with the speculation that she had lost or forgotten her keys.

I know the time of the start of the journey is oddly vague and the ending oddly precise. But 4 minutes vs nearly 30 minutes is a hell of difference not easily explained by approximation.
