Websleuths operates differently than other sites. It may be difficult to understand our rules in the beginning but when you have been here awhile you begin to appreciate the reasoning behind the rules. Primarily, we respect the integrity of a case by keeping out rumors and we also uphold protecting the innocent and peripheral players in a case.

New members need to read the following terms of service in their entirety. Members are responsible for knowing our rules and posting accordingly.

Rules - Etiquette & Information

Please be mindful of the following:
* We do not sleuth people who have not been named by LE as suspects or POI's.

* We do not link to social networking pages of people who have not been named by LE as suspects/POI.

* We never post the name of a private individual, minor or adult, who has not been named in the media.

* Questions about the rules or moderation should be addressed to a mod in a private message called a conversation. DO NOT discuss them in the thread.

* If you see a post that violates TOS, do not reply as it will cause a huge clean up for mods. Alert the post so a mod can look at the post.

* If you quote a post which later is removed by a mod, your post is subject to removal, as well.

Here is some information regarding our social media rules in case you missed it on the last thread.

Conversations in your inbox:
One other important thing new members may not be aware of. You may start a conversation in your inbox and invite up to 20 members to converse. The conversations in the inbox area are totally private and are not moderated. Moderators cannot see it. Therefore, you can discuss rumor or other information which is against TOS in the private conversation area. The conversations have the same lay out as the public threads. The conversations can be started at any time. When a thread is closed the discussion can continue in that area.

Do not mention or ask someone to invite you to a conversation or to send you a private message out on the open discussion public board. If you want information from a member just initiate a conversation with them privately.

admin note:
These type of cases are emotional and tensions build when the victim cannot be found. Keep the discussion civil and respectful or face the loss of posting privileges. FYI Mods have the capability of issuing (individual member) thread reply bans which can be temporary (days, week, etc.) or permanent.

If you are particularly bothered by posts you have the ability to place a member on your ignore list. You will not be able to see their responses but will be able to see when someone quotes them.

So further to my pics posted yesterday, I wanted to describe something slightly odd I spotted on my walk along the riverbank. It's probably nothing too sinister, but I have to mention it.

Just south of Oak Rd Park, about level with the big wind turbine, I spotted a small patch of loose, freshly disturbed soil. It was in a gap in the undergrowth set tight, I think, against the fence that separates the field with the turbine from the river bank path.

It wasn't huge. From memory, a maximum of about 3.5 foot in length, maybe 2 foot depth, and roughly rectangular. It may in actuality have been smaller than that. On top of it was a short, chunky piece of driftwood, like a mini railway sleeper or a gatepost. I was intrigued and with the lack of anything else to dig with I picked up the wood and scraped away at the surface. Just below it there was a scattering of something I quite stupidly didn't observe closely enough to ascertain what it was, and didn't take photos of. I couldn't get too close because the branches protruding through the fence were snagging my new hoodie and I didn't want it ruined. It looked like either coloured petals of some kind (unlikely?), or shards of vivid coloured plastic - red, or deep purple (I'm colour blind so can't say for sure). Scratching a little deeper I did not see anything protruding from the ground and the piece of wood was too chunky to actually leverage the ground at all, and then I heard a woman coming along the bank calling her dog so I ditched the hunk of wood, climbed back up on the bank and proceeded on my way.

My assumption, given the small size and apparent deliberate "marker" / ornamentation of an unknown nature was that maybe a frequent walker in that area had recently decided to bury their dead dog there.

It was close-ish to the park, but you'd have a job describing it as within "dragging/carrying distance" (for a human body anyway). Presumably whoever dug that out did so with a spade, and it would have taken some quite considerable time and been almost impossible in the dead of night. None of this seems like it would have applied to PR. Besides, if you went to the trouble to bury a body in a fairly popular walking spot, you'd not leave a conspicuous marker, would you?

But I had to mention it, just in case. Maybe if someone else goes along there today you can scrutinise it in more detail. Cling to the fence separating the river walk from the field containing the big turbine heading south from the park. Eventually you'll spot it.

Wish I'd taken a bloody photo of it now though.

Goodness me you’re brave - would have given me the creeps!
Long time reader and first time poster here... I do think it’s telling that the park has not been extensively searched. Even if they were working from intelligence gained from PR you would assume they would err on the side of caution and look throughout just in case?? I’m inclined to think that they are saving face for the MSM by showing small bouts of activity each day.

Ive repeatedly watched the Howarth St cctv and its pretty clear that a woman gets in the passenger side.
The only way out of Howarth St is onto Cottingham Rd. If he was turning right away from the park it looks like PriceCrunch cctv cameras on the corner would have caught him , if , as is more in line with most theories he turned left towards Libby's home and oak road park he would have had to have gone through the juction with Beverley Road and thats got a big cctv camera.
So its a logical assumption to make that the police got his reg number from cctv and identified him, leading to his arrest on suspicion of abduction.
He may be saying he dropped her near her house on Wellesley Avenue and went alone to the park afterwards and had a *advertiser censored* on the bench and then shot off home and depending on the existence or lack of additional cctv between wellesley and oak road park there may be nothing to either prove or disprove this story. Its only a few hundred meteres from the end of Wellesley Avenue to Oak Rd park so the window for being seen by cctv isnt wide.
So it could be the police just dont have that critical bit of evidence that conclusively incriminates him for the crime we imagine has happened.
As Stella8 pointed out someone who flashes and stands there staring in windows dosnt sound like a mastermind criminal , more a impulsive thrill seeker so could he just have got amazingly lucky that all evidence has just disappeared.

Sadly as per my posts yesterday it does appear they've only searched a fraction of the places someone might dispose of a body, and virtually none of the reeds along the river. I don't know what their strategy is, but it's sad... and a bit concerning. Let's just hope they know something we don't. Otherwise, it doesn't exactly bode well for their competence.

Oh gosh...might just be me that thinks this but I'd report that!

I'm not suggesting there is a body under it but it sounds odd anyway.

Can't hurt to phone 101 and tell them.

Or maybe I'm just paranoid

i agree joolz, call it in. Could be nothing but the police are searching around that area for something.

Can anyone remember what page the photos are on that someone mentioned the wind turbine looking creepy yesterday? Think someone else said something about disturbed earth too.

I was at work so didn't get time to look but now I'm curious.

Do you really think with resources these days that the police and other search and rescue agencies will use manpower, equipment and helicopters, and incur all the hidden costs like overtime and accommodation, to put on a show for MSM? And would you call this 'small bouts of activity'?:

'Humberside Police revealed details of their painstaking search which has so far included hundreds of uniformed officers and approximately 50 detectives as well as three specialist search advisors overseeing the search, nearly a dozen underwater officers, dog teams, support officers form neighbouring forces, teams from Yorkshire and Lincolnshire search and rescue, assistance from Humberside Fire and Rescue, the coastguard and from NPAS...'

As there has been no appeal yet for the biker or the Renault, do we think these could be also be connected?

I keep thinking about the park and how the searches have been going around that area, it seems to me that they have some inclination that they went to that park but I don't think they are certain,
I really hope the searches done around there was not just based on hear say from the near by neighbours,
I never really understood why they didn't do an arm in arm search of the area like you would see in most missing cases when they search an area,
It really does seem like a little search here a little there,
You can see by the recent photos put up that some places seem untouched that you would think should be checked.
