I think it must be a more recent death. The witness said it looked like a womans size 4 foot. I can't imagine looking at a skeletonised foot and saying, yeah that's a size four! I hope they find the rest of that poor person

It speaks to the recent craze for all things homicidal, this headlining of body discoveries. There are many, many skeletons from many thousands of years buried in unmarked graves. Few will have resulted from foul play of recent vintage.

The way the witnesses to the discovery said that it appeared to be a female and size four, I was thinking that a shoe was found as well. If it was a medical waste thing, then there wouldn't be a shoe.

Probably a long shot, but Leah Croucher has been missing from about two hours away since Valentine's day. She is 5'2", so likely to have a smaller foot.

I'm not sure how closely foot size correlates with height, but I used to be a 4 at 5'1 (until I went up to a 4.5) so I would say if the estimate would be a 3 to a 5, probably a height of 4'10 to abut 5'5?

I'm about 5 ft...my left foot is UK size 4.5...and my right foot is UK size 4.

My daughter is 5'4 and a size 7 and still growing (I think her next pair of trainers will be an 8). She has the longest boniest toes ive ever seen, you could tie her toes in knots

I'm just under 5'7" and sometimes wear size 5s, sometimes size 6 (depending on shoe type).

Yeh possibly but to be 100% sure it was a size 4 they would have to remove it and look at the label

Awful to think about! Hopefully it was less gruesome....many shoes have their sizes stamped on the undersize and running shoes often have size tags sewn on tongues near the top...

I do hope so!

I'm thinking it was more a casual guess at the size though.

Updates are very slow coming in this case thought there would have been another police update by now.

A foot found in a village on the outskirts of Grimsby was female and likely to have been deliberately dismembered, police have revealed.

The discovery was made by a woman walking her dog on the Peaks Parkway Path in New Waltham, North East Lincolnshire, last month.

Det Ch Insp Al Curtis said pathologists believed the foot had been dismembered in the past year.

The woman was over the age of 16 and about 5ft 2in (1.6m) tall, he said.

Maybe not a prank after all then. I think police would be able to quickly eliminate the possibility of med student hijinx if the foot showed no signs of cadaver preservation etc.

A deliberate dismemberment as opposed to a scattering by animals may mean that the rest of her body isn’t even nearby.

Do you think the reference to over 16 may mean that they can determine that growth had stopped? The field of possibles is a lot wider if “adult” is the criteria as aposed to “adolescent”.

There must be an indication that a saw, of some type, was used in this dismemberment. Something cut those bones, and it sounds like it wasn't a hatchet, or some kind of nasty separation. Then again, it could be the other way around. There's something in that statement that indicates no animals (other than the human kind) were involved with these bones being separated. Another monster, of the worst variety. Or, was it a one time thing?

Any other cases that might resemble what they're dealing with? Or maybe (shudder) those have not been found. Yet.
