Perhaps more specific details on mom's participation will be revealed on Monday.

Undoubtedly. They haven't with the other two. Tomorrow will probably be confirm name DOB and address, register the charge with the crown court, and confirm the trial date. So far, I think the same trial date has been given, so it seems that the intent of the prosecution is to hold a joint trial for all three defendants. That's the only thing that I think might be news tomorrow. Depending on the details of the investigation, they may choose to send Angharad to a separate trial.

She is appearing at 10:30am (which I believe would be 3:30am for you), and she's been allocated a booth, which I imagine means she's appearing in person.

...His mother Angharad Williamson, 30, from Sarn, appeared via video link at Newport Crown Court where she spoke to confirm her name before the case was adjourned to a later date.

Two other people have also been charged with Logan's murder.

Disappointed. As you know, a preliminary hearing in the States is more like a mini-trial where the court decides if sufficient evidence to go to trial.

That would never be done in public here. It could prejudice the eventual trial. Evidence is considered by the Crown Prosecution Service before charges are laid, but their deliberations are not disclosed to the public.

Stepdad pleads not guilty to murder of five-year-old Logan Mwangi

12 Nov 2021

A man accused of killing his five-year-old stepson has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Logan Mwangi's body was found in the Ogmore River near Pandy Park in Bridgend on the morning of Saturday, July 31.

Logan's stepdad and mum - John Cole, 39, and 30-year-old Angharad Williamson - have since both been charged with murder.

Among the multiple injuries Logan suffered was a torn liver, an internal head injury and a broken collarbone.

An earlier inquest opening heard a formal cause of death had not been established, but there was reason to expect his death was "violent or unnatural".

[..]

Cole pleaded not guilty to murder but pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice - namely, moving Logan's body from Lower Llansantffraid to the river area near Pandy Park, removing clothing belonging to Logan to the river area, washing blood stained bed linen belonging to Logan and making false reports to police Logan was missing.

Williamson did not enter pleas to the murder charge. However, she pleaded not guilty to perverting the course of justice.

A third defendant, who is a youth, appeared via video link from another room in the court building. The youth cannot be named for legal reasons.

He pleaded not guilty to both murder and perverting the course of justice.

A provisional trial date was initially given as January 31, 2022, but prosecutor Caroline Rees QC said this would not be met.

Mrs Justice Jefford made set a new provisional trial date for February 14, 2022.

[..]

Logan's mother Angharad Williamson, 30, also appeared in front of Mrs Justice Nerys Jefford and pleaded not guilty to perverting the course of justice.

Ms Williamson, who stood in the dock next to Cole, wept as details of the charge were read out.

The court heard the three are accused of moving Logan's body from his home to "an area near the River Ogmore at Pandy Park in Sarn, Bridgend."

They are accused of moving Logan's clothing to the same area and allegedly washing his blood-stained bedsheets before phoning police to falsely report him as missing, saying his location was unknown.

Angharad Williamson is also accused of murder, but did not enter a plea to that charge during the hearing.

A 14-year-old boy, who cannot be identified due to his age, appeared by video link from another room in the court building.

He pleaded not guilty to Logan's murder and perverting the course of justice.

A new provisional trial date was set for February 14 next year.

As I understand it a defendant is offered the opportunity to enter a plea but doesn't have to - s/he can remain silent. 'No plea' is entered as a not-guilty plea on their behalf so that the trial can be set.

Thanks, @Tortoise.
Just seems odd she was present yet only entered a plea on the justice charge. Like what, she didn't want NC to hear?

Washing blood stained bed linen. So sad, what the hell happened

I recall from earlier reports that it sounded like these monsters batted Logan around like he was a football. Kicking him so hard that they tore his liver. :(
