UK UK- Lynne Weedon, 16, Out with friends @The Elm disco, found raped/bludgeoned in ''The Short Hedges.'' alleyway, London, 3 Sept, 1975 *DNA*

This is interesting, this attack on a girl in Hillingdon Street, Kennington is being compared to Lynne's attack of the same year, police are comparing the cases it says as the mode of attack us similar, but what I see is a similarity to Sally Shepherd's attack which geographically also is quite close, 17 minutes drive, 40 mins walk, 12 mins by bike, 23 mind public transport...just over 2 miles. I can't find anything to say anyone was caught.
The 17 year old was dragged into a park while walking home, had a rag put over her face doused in spirit, (experimenting?), which xaused her to pass out, she was raped, kicked and beaten plus had her clothes taken.

Well nobody has had their clothes stolen or had a chemical knock out, that we know of. Lynne was hit so hard on the back of the head that one press release I read said it caused brain damage and therefore causing her to pass out wasn't needed.
Eve was gagged, I am sure I read that in one of these links, Lynne had a sock or stocking stuffed in her mouth (surely either for sexual or posing reasons as she was unconscious).

The police mentioning that people may copy the killer of Lynne, probably because of the amount publicity her manner or attack and death drew...I wonder how many copied PS because he had even more publicity.

FWIW..(for what it is worth)

''The copycat effect is the alleged tendency of sensational publicity about violent murders or suicides to result in more of the same through imitation.[1]

The term was first coined in the early 20th century, following crimes inspired by Jack the Ripper. Due to the increase of replicated crimes, criminologists soon began to believe that media coverage played a role in inspiring other criminals to commit crimes in a similar fashion, and even for non-criminals to begin committing crimes when they otherwise might not have done so.[2]

A book written by Loren Coleman called The Copycat Effect describes the effect that the media has on crimes and suicides, which are inspired by crimes that have been widely covered across the media. Coleman's view on the media is that the constant coverage of these events, rather than the events with a positive message, gives these criminals a type of fame. The five minutes of fame, book or movie that is dedicated to these criminals provokes other individuals with a tendency to behave in a similar way. Due to this type of fame, the "copycat effect" takes place.[1]

The US documentary television series CopyCat Killers investigates murders that appear to be based on Hollywood films.''

''Copycat killings add another knot to the tangle -- these are murders committed in a way that was already established by a previous murder committed by another person. Some credit the year 1912 with the birth of this class of killer. Intense media coverage of the Jack the Ripper murders spawned a multitude of similar crimes, and
the term "copycat effect" came into being.''

''Ever since Jack the Ripper became famous, lesser-known murderers have sought to follow in the same deadly footsteps. Here are four notorious cases that were copied later on. ''

What random video have I posted? I only remember posting Crimewatch videos and they are NOT random, they are enforced and informed by UK law enforcement! I am totally shocked.

Admin please tell me you know what Crimewatch is?

This NOT a random video it is an official source that is more accurate than press releases since it is informed entirely by the police who appear after the piece about the linking of Eve Stratford and Lynne Weedon's murders.

Crimewatch is a well known and respected programme that police use to help share and receive information to try and help solve crimes. Not random.

I put a shorter video before cut from the main programme so people would not have to fast forward or get distracted by other crimes featured, but it was very clearly Crimewatch. I am making it very clear by putting the full programme and statement that this is informed by the British police, who appear on the show after the reconstructions as they always do.

Btw I only meant to put one word in bold. For some reason it wouldn't let me md remove it.

Better quality Crime Watch vids at this thread.
Thank you, I was trying to see if there was a Crimewatch thread on here. Site was busy and I kept getting so many issues I decided to come back when it was quieter.

They really are invaluable and I find it odd they put some cold cases and missed other high profile unsolved murders.

I really have had no luck finding an identikit for people seen around the area of Lynne's murder.

"Det Chief Insp Noel McHugh said: “We know the suspect is of North European origin. Work continues on the DNA, but it is extremely delicate because of the passage of time.

“We have a profile, but the missing piece of the jigsaw is who that profile belongs to. What we need is a name.” "

DNA is so important in this case, we aren't far from getting a physical description from DNA, colouring etc.

Is this offender a rapist, first and foremost?

Eve Stratford is a home invasion murder. She is bound and then almost beheaded. She is found to have had sex shortly before she is killed.

Lynne Weedon is an outdoor murder. She is bludgeoned, thrown over a fence and then raped.

Where are the crimes of escalation?

Lynne's dad thought she was killed by someone she knew. He said Lynne would never walk that alleyway on her own.

I think Mr Weedon suspected Lynne's male chaperones. Two young guys who walked Lynne home, but then left her at the start of the alleyway. They said she told them that she would be fine on her own. I'm presuming they have both been cleared by DNA tests.

I can't see a local teenager killing Lynne. Unless six months earlier he was way more mobile, and half way across London, killing Eve Stratford.

This killer reminds me somewhat of Robert Napper.
Home invasion murder, then outdoor murder. Attempted decapitation.

Was this killer (like Napper) also a serial rapist before he started killing his victims?

Was this killer (like Napper) also a serial rapist before he started killing his victims?
Napper was believed to have stalked/watched Samantha Bissett, she didn't have curtains.
Napper confessed to raping a woman to his mother and she reported it to police. Not every mother, family member or friend would. One of the retired police officers in charge of the investigation of Eve and Lynne's murders stated 10 years ago that it's unlikely that the perp hadn't spoke to someone, let something slip.

"It's inconceivable the killer of Eve and Lynne has kept the perfect secret for 40 years.

I don't think the killer would neccessarily confess to anyone.

DNA related arrests in recent years have shown us that many murderers keep their awful secrets to themselves.

It probably depends on their personality or mental health state.

Not the clearest photo of Lynne Weedon, obviously contributed by Lynne's family to the police and Crimewatch. I have seen precious few colour photos of an older Lynne, so many are of her looking childlike, rather than the woman she was becoming.

Some of these are a challenging read. So I have tried to add as much relevant info.
Do we know Eve Stratford's height? She looks petite in the photo with her boyfriend.

Lynne was 7stone petite 5ft 1" (google will convert for anyone unsure).
That evening Lynne had brown, short hair, (looking at photos, light brown, she looks almost blonde in some), blue denim jeans, blue and white tank top, blue and white wool mixture cardigan, brown platform shoes with blue leather uppers.

Two boys walked Lynne part of the way home, they along with the other friends she met that night had all been at school together. The boys stated they saw nobody following them. They usually walked Lynne home, but that night she said she was fine and they parted ways at the junction of Lower Sutton Lane and Great West Road near the Master Robert Hotel (still there). This is further than I previously thought she had walked alone. While out she had drank 2 x ½ pints of cider, she met her close friend Rosemary there, there were 7 friends who had all been at school together. Lynne's boyfriend of around 2 months who was a couple of years older had gone elsewhere that evening, to a hotel with friends.

The 17 year old daughter of the school caretaker saw her from the kitchen window and called her mother to say someone was lying down outside and the mum called her husband. The Mum thought Lynne was already dead, her and her husband went out to the substation to check her face was badly marked and her face and head covered in blood, she was naked from the waist down.

Lynne had a wide circle of friends and was nice to everyone, was well liked.

Lynne's mother stated she knew the boys couldn't possibly have anything to do with it, and that they were very nice young men.
The father says if he finds who did it he won't be responsible for his actions.

Police thought the attacker used a heavy metal object like a hammer or Jimmy (crowbar), I have read she had two fractures in one piece, facial lacerations and hypothermia. (I know she had lacerations on her breasts too from other sources already added, so did Eve Stratford).

They police say it was a ferocious and brutal attack on a young girl and that the person was very determined. Not just the force used to harm her, but lifting her over the fence. They also believed his clothing would have been heavily stained with blood.

I notice most accounts don't mention she had a small piece of clothing shoved down her throat, it might have been a sock, or the scarring of her breasts, that her top was pulled up above her breasts, that she was posed (To cause shock? To defile her further?). I need to find other descriptions, as I think I recall something about signs of her also being bound, I don't want to say outright incase I am mis-remembering.

Some people comment that he may have been disturbed, he seems to have plenty of time to do what he wanted. I doubt he had a knife on him or he would have used it.

I know Lynne's parents told her never to use the little lane running down the side of the school, Short Hedges, and just because Lynne said she didn't use it, doesn't make it so. It would have cut time and distance off her way home, she had had a little to drink and must have been dealing confident to tell the boys walking with her not to walk her home, she was ok.
Teens don't tend to think of repurcussians and death too much unless they're in dark circumstances.
There had been talk of flashers and wot not in that lane previously. Probably some people jumped in there to have a pee too. I think it's just as possible the perp was in there waiting for an opportunity.
