Probe as human remains found at property

"Human remains have been found at a house in south-west London, prompting an investigation.

Police made the discovery at a property on Nowell Road, Barnes, after concerns were raised about the occupant.

An analysis of the remains have confirmed they are human and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled.

The Met's Specialist Crime Command is working to establish the identity of the deceased and anyone with information is asked to come forward."

A teenager has been charged over the death of a vulnerable man who was found stabbed to death and his body dismembered.

Police found 53-year-old William Algar's head and torso wrapped up in sheets with both his arms and legs missing.

[...]

A post-mortem exam found the victim, who has yet to be formally identified, had suffered around 20 stab wounds, including a fatal 8cm deep injury to the chest, and was then cut up with a knife.

The youth, of Kensington, was remanded in custody ahead of plea and trial preparation hearing on March 25.

Teen charged with murder after man found decapitated with legs and arms missing

"The body itself was wrapped up in a sheet knotted twice. Both of his arms and both of his legs had been removed. They have never been recovered.

"The torso and head remained. The fatal injury was an 8cm deep stab wound to the chest which penetrated the heart.

"There were a further 20 stab wounds to the body of the deceased and a large area of damage to the scalp consistent with knife tip chopping down on the skull."

I wonder what the motive of this horrific act is going to be

A post-mortem carried out on a man whose remains were found in a house in Barnes gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.

The 53-year-old has been formally identified as William Algar, pictured above, and was known to friends and family as Blaise.

Mr Algar lived at the address where he was found in Nowell Road and was discovered during a search of the property on January 3.

Post-mortem reveals man found dead at his house in Barnes died of stab wound to chest

On Saturday, police began a search seven miles away near Edgar Road, close to Hounslow Heath, where human remains were found that are believed to be parts of Mr Algar’s body.

Detective Inspector William White of the Met Police said: “This is a significant development in our investigation to establish what happened to Blaise.

“The location of our search is in a residential area, close to Hounslow Heath.

“Were you walking on the heath? Did you see anyone carrying anything?

“I am urging anyone who saw anybody acting suspiciously to come forward and speak with us"

Detective Inspector White said he is also keen to hear from anyone who had contact with Blaise during November and December 2018.

“He was known to visit the local shops in the Castlenau area – did you notice him or speak to him?" he added.

During the course of the search, human remains were found. Whilst identity has not been confirmed, Blaise’s family have been updated and continue to receive the support of specially trained officers.

A scene remains in place and officers are expected to be in the area for several days.

Superintendent Richard Smith, of the South West Command Unit, said: "The murder of Mr Algar has caused considerable concern for local people in Barnes and across the borough of Richmond upon Thames.

"Local officers have been working closely with detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command and the local authority to progress this investigation as quickly as possible. My thoughts remain with Mr Algar’s family and friends as they come to terms with the terrible events of the last few weeks."

UPDATE: Fourth arrest in connection with Barnes murder

Others have previously been arrested and either re bailed or released under investigation, only a 17 year old has been charged, makes sense the accused didn’t act alone, after the grim reading of what happened to the poor man,

What an horrific case. And 17 year old to dismember someone... London is getting mad.
Definitely another defendant light at the moment, no way did a 17 year old kill, dismember then dispose of a body on his own, watch this space me thinks!

From link above:
...a large area of damage to the scalp consistent with knife tip chopping down on the skull
Truly gruesome.
Also says tha man had "long standing mental health issues and drug addiction", maybe some crazed acquaintance?
And where are his legs and arms and why remove them?
Poor man, and his poor family. Sickening!

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Tuesday (August 17) that Emeka Dawuda-Wodu, 19, Simon Emmons, 40, Janayo Lucima, 19, and Marc Harding, 45, were convicted of perverting the course of justice in relation to the dismemberment and disposing of Algar’s body parts between 16 December and 20 December 2019.

Emmons and Dawuda-Wodu along with Zimele Dube, 33, were also convicted of murdering 35-year-old Ebrima Cham in Hounslow following an ongoing drugs dispute on 19 December 2019. He was attacked while he was sleeping.

  • Emeka Dawuda-Wodu was sentenced to custody for life with a minimum term of 31 years.
  • Simon Emmons was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 31 years.
  • Janayo Lucima was sentenced to three years and three months.
  • Zimele Dube was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 28 years.
  • Marc Harding was sentenced to three years and three months imprisonment.
Algar’s home was being used as a base to sell drugs in the months leading up to his death. It is believed he died as a result of being unable to pay back drug money owed to Dawuda-Wodu and his associates.

More details at the link; I'm glad these men are safely locked up.
