Police and fire crews are scouring the River Severn in Shrewsbury in their search for a 'high-risk missing person' who was reported missing after a night out.

Nathan Fleetwood, 21, was last seen in the early hours of Sunday having left Albert's Shed in Shrewsbury town centre.

The emergency services have maintained a large presence in the Quarry park, near the Kingsland toll bridge, since Monday morning, and West Mercia Police is searching a number of areas around the town centre. River rescue teams have been piloting a boat in the river.

The police appeal said: "Nathan was last seen at around 2.30am [on Sunday] after he left Albert's Shed in Shrewsbury town centre.

"He is described as having short blonde hair and was wearing a white t-shirt with a black hoodie, and black jeans and white Nike trainers.

"Anyone with any information that could help find Nathan, please call 999."

The West Mercia Search & Rescue unit said: "Specialist search teams are en route to the Shrewsbury area to support West Mercia Police with a high-risk missing person."

Officers investigating the disappearance of Nathan Fleetwood from Shrewsbury have issued new information to help with their searches.

The 21-year-old was reported missing on Sunday 27 March, after he failed to return home following a night out in Shrewsbury Town Centre.

Nathan was reported to have last been seen in the town centre at around 2.30am after leaving the Albert Shed on Barker Street.

Following our initial appeal officers have received further information that Nathan was sighted shortly afterwards in the Kingsland area of the town between 3am and 5am.

The family of Nathan have also issued a second photo of him to aid with searches.

Nathan is described as having short blonde hair and was wearing a white t-shirt with a black hoodie, and black jeans and white Nike trainers.

As part of the search officers are working with West Mercia Search and Rescue to search the area around the Kingsland Bridge, as well as following up a number of enquiries around the town cente.

If Nathan was spotted in Kingsland 3am to 5am it would mean that Nathan crossed the river Severn bridge. Its only a 10 min walk from the 2.30am time when he left the Alberts shed venue.

I think a friend of his is organising a search this Sunday and gathering parties and those with any knowledge of tracing via all means. If you google on FB under Nathan's name you should find.

Officers searching for Nathan Fleetwood are appealing for two men to get in touch after we believe they tried to help him book a taxi.

The two men, who are both described as in their early 20s, were seen helping the 21-year-old on the Kingsland Bridge on Sunday 27 March, between 3.30am and 4.15am.

The first man is described as white, around 6’2” with curly brown hair in a curtains style, and wearing light blue jeans and a black Berghause fleece. The second man is also described as white, around 5’8”, with a short beard and wearing a beige jacket with the hood up. Both are described as well-spoken.

Detective Sergeant David Bettison of West Mercia Police said: “Firstly we would like to thank the public for all their help since we issued our first appeal as we have heard off a number of people who have helped us with our searches.

“We are now eager to speak to these two men, who were seen assisting Nathan on the bridge, as we are led to believe they tried to help Nathan book a taxi so he could get home.

“There is no evidence to suggest the two men have anything to do with Nathan’s disappearance, but we do believe they could hold vital information in helping us better understand Nathan’s movements in the early hours of Sunday."

Family have said that Nathan lives in Castle Fields, so going to Kingsland is not on the way home. It does look from the police post that there was interaction with 2 individuals who have yet to come forward on Kingsland Bridge.

These 'helpers' were seen at club, so what was going on? They 'tried' to get cab? so which taxi company did they phone? Or was something else going on?

The friends and family search gets underway first thing tomorrow morning. I rather think the feeling is that they are looking to recover Nathan and bring closure. I do hope something comes out of it. Now gone 7 days and the circumstances are not optimistic.

Volunteers from West Mercia Search and Rescue were put on alert to go to the Victoria Avenue area at about 10am on Saturday to "locate a high-risk missing person".

Specialist kayak search teams were again sent out on Sunday morning. A search for missing 21-year-old man Nathan Fleetwood was also arranged by the community on Sunday.

It follows searches that were conducted in the River Severn by Shrewsbury's Quarry park on Monday, as part of the search for Mr Fleetwood.

Businesses including the Armoury and the Sabrina riverboat were open and operating on Saturday but a section of Victoria Quay from the area of the Riverbank bar to the toilets in Quarry Park was cordoned off at about 11am.

Dilwyn Jones, of the Sabrina boat, said: "The first part of Victoria Quay is open but it is closed off from the Riverbank bar into the Quarry.

"I am told that none of the rescue teams have gone into the water yet but they are searching the bank of the river."

West Mercia Police has been invited to comment.

Hundreds of people turned out in Shrewsbury to search for missing 21-year old Nathan Fleetwood a week on from his disappearance.

Young and old, family and friends, about 400 people in all, gathered on Sunday on the banks of the River Severn, where Nathan was last seen in the early hours of March 27.

As they searched on dry land, kayakers from the West Mercia Search and Rescue unit surveyed the river itself.

The search was centred on the Kingsland Bridge, where police believe he was between 3am and 5am on the Sunday.

Among the volunteers, thought to number 400, were men who played football with Nathan when he was in the Shrewsbury Juniors Under 18 team. They said Nathan was "someone you could never argue with".

"He is one of the nicest lads there is, always has a smile on his face," Alfie Page said.

Mark Reynolds, who managed the team Nathan was in and who joined his team mates in the search, said it was good to see so many people turning out to do what they could to help.

Sam Dorset, whose niece is friends with Nathan, said it was the least she could do to help the search.

"His family thanked us for taking part in the search and said they had not realised how many people knew and loved Nathan," she said.

"Various items were found but of course they may not be connected."

One group of young people said they knew Nathan from being out in town in the evenings.

"Shrewsbury is a small town and everyone knows someone who knows Nathan," Emily Lambert said.

The organiser of a search for missing Nathan Fleetwood says he was "overwhelmed" at the number of people volunteering to help.

More than 400 people turned out to hunt for Nathan on Sunday, scouring the area around the Kingsland Bridge in Shrewsbury in the hope of unearthing clues as to his whereabouts.

It is now more than a week since the 21-year-old was last seen, having been reported missing on Sunday, March 27, after failing to return home from a night out in Shrewsbury.

In a bid to try and locate Nathan, friend Toby Owen, from Shrewsbury, arranged for people to meet up on Sunday to try and find any sign of him.

Toby, 25, said that although they had not made a breakthrough, he is planning to arrange another search, and a Facebook group will be set up to update people on the progress.

He said: "Until we get closure this will not stop. I am looking at organising another public search to cover some more areas that we didn't cover on Sunday."

He added: "I was just overwhelmed by the response we had. We are still pushing on and it was really heartening to see so many people wanting to help."

Toby knew Nathan when he was younger, and also played football with him for the Telegraph last year, describing him as a "loveable

He described him as a "lovable" and "really great lad".

Friends of missing Nathan Fleetwood are planning to launch another mass public search for the 21-year-old who hasn't been seen for more than a week.

On Sunday, April 3, more than 400 people scoured the area around the Kingsland Bridge in the hope of unearthing clues as to his whereabouts.

Toby Owen, a friend and football pal of Nathan, said there are also plans to put thousands of leaflets through town doors.

Many lampposts in the town have also had leaflets fixed to them, and a new Facebook group has grown to more than 4,300 followers in a matter of hours.

"The plan now is to get back out and flyer every house in the area," said Toby who is desperate to get answers for Nathan's mum, dad and sister.

"We just need someone to come forward with that crucial piece of information that will bring it all together."

Toby, 25, said he and the family had been staggered by the support they have received from "amazing people" who have offered to pay for leaflets, T-shirts.

"It is going in the right direction," he added.

Searches for information have so far centred on what happened to Nathan on or around the Kingsland bridge between 3.30am and 4.15am on Sunday, March 27.

He was seen in Shrewsbury town centre at around 2.30am after leaving Albert's Shed.

He is then believed to have made his way towards the Kingsland area of the town.

Anyone with any information that could help police searches are asked to call 101 or visit the West Mercia Police website quoting incident 347i of 27 March.

Friends and family of a missing Shrewsbury man say they're desperate to find out what's happened to him.

Nathan Fleetwood hasn't been seen since Sunday 27th March where he was walking along Kingsland Road in the early hours of the morning.

The 21 year old was seen in Shrewsbury Town Centre at around 2.30am after leaving the Albert Shed on Barker Street. He is then believed to have made his way towards the Kingsland area of the town shortly afterwards, and was seen on Kingsland Bridge.

Police searching for him are now appealing for witnesses to come forward who may have seen him walking along Kingsland Road.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area between 4am and 6.30am on Sunday 27 March, as they may have vital information about Nathan’s movements that night.

Speaking to us, Nathan's friend, Toby Owen, says; "We have three options. One, he went down the steps towards the river unfortunately. Two, he walked towards the top of Kingsland...or three, he's got in a vehicle. We know his phone pinged at 5:52am."

A search party was organised last weekend (Sunday 3rd April) which Toby says around 400 turned out for, with more being planned.

'We want answers', Nathan's family tell ITV News Central

Hundreds of people have taken part in a huge search to find a man who went missing after a night out in Shrewsbury.

Nathan Fleetwood was last seen walking along Kingsland Road on March 27, Mothering Sunday, after a night out with his friends.

Family and friends of the 21-year-old have been left devastated by the news and have organised public searches in a bid to try and find him.

They have also set up a Facebook page called Help Find Nathan Fleetwood to share information, which has already got more than 6,000 followers.

Officers from West Mercia Police have launched an appeal and are calling on anyone who may have information to come forward.

Carol Fleetwood, Nathan's mother, said: "We have had amazing support, we can't thank people enough for all they have done and continued support. There are numerous people we need to thank, too many to mention.

"Obviously it's ongoing. We are just trying to add it all together with what's happened and we obviously want answers.

"There's a missing link in our family at the moment and we just want him home and he needs to give me his Mother's Day present."
