Specialist search officers drive a boat along the River Wyre

Specialist search officers are looking on the River Wyre for any sign of Ms Bulley
She speaks with an Essex accent and was last seen wearing a long black gilet jacket with a hood, black jeans and olive green ankle wellies.

She went missing while walking her dog, a brown-coloured spaniel, which was later found close to where she was last seen.
As well as Inskip and St Michael's, Ms Bulley also has links to Thornton Cleveleys, Lancashire Police said.
Police searching a graveyard

Detectives say they are "extremely concerned" as they search for Ms Bulley

Police searching for missing woman, 45, who vanished three days ago reveal her phone was found on bench.....

Police said this afternoon her phone was in use at the time she went missing, and that her dog was found nearby about an hour after she was reported missing

I note the two police search team officers are photographed in that piece overlooking the weir - again suggesting this as the likely area of the last sighting.

Her phone being on the bench seems to rule out an accidental slip into the river. She may have still gone in after the dog I suppose, you would probably place your phone down if you were planning to enter the water.

I wonder if it was found on the ground by someone who picked it up and put it on the bench?

Actually, where I live it is common to lift items you find on the ground (that someone has obviously lost) to the nearest bench, fence or stone - to make it more visible and to possibly lessen the damage to the item. Bit odd to do it with a phone as it can be linked to the owner easily (unlike a glove or headphones), but possible that the item was moved. Like if she slipped while holding the phone and it fell near the edge of the water.

It also made it sound slightly like possible suicide, but I just cannot see that with the circumstances known so far.

Foul play and accident are still both on the table for me.

Sorry if I missed it but who actually reported her missing?
Police press conference just says family.

Her phone was found whilst still on a conference call though, bit unusual to pick up a phone which is on a call mode and not speak to someone on the other end.

I'm local. While the river can swell and break banks in the area Nicola has gone missing, it's at times of very high rain fall and high tides. Tide was low at the time she went missing (low tide at Fleetwood where the River Wyre meets Irish Sea was 09:30) and rainfall has been generally low. The river at St Michael's is relatively narrow, and the land is fairly flat, considering the time spent with experts searching the river and surrounding area... There's a bad feeling locally that it's something quite sinister and not a slip/ fall into the river accident.

Interesting. A call with who? Did she work around there?

If you know the walk, the only bench I can find seems to be behind a fence where she or anyone else walking that trail doesn't appear (from the data) to go. There doesn't seem to be any benches, at least on Google maps, <modsnip - no source link for information posted as fact>

'We do believe the likelihood is Nicola has gone missing, this is not a crime inquiry.' Metropolitan police officer gives an update on the missing dog walker in Lancashire.'
Um why the hell are the Met involved? They're London Police. This is the other end of the county.

Oh nevermind. She's a Lancashire Sup - they obviously still wear the old uniform for higher ranks. No Met here.

I've just seen this case on the news. The phone being found on the bench is strange but I wonder if the dog has wandered off near the waters edge and she has followed to get the dog away and slipped or something similar. Logically it seems like the water will hold the key unfortunately.

Police said Nicola was on a conference call with other people shortly before her disappearance but then placed her phone down, leaving the line open

This gets stranger and stranger and even more worrying! Be interesting whether the dog did get into some difficulty and she went over to help ? I just cant see that if im honest. Or whether someone tried to get her attention, she was obviously comfortable putting her phone down and wasnt expected to be away from it long

Yes i do understand the dog situation and the possible slipping. But if she did slip, then what ? Possibly bang her head and fall unconscious and drown ? I feel if that was the case the police wouldnt still be looking 2 days on.

I think it's possible. Maybe she wasn't a good swimmer. We also don't know what the undercurrent is like in that water or how deep it is or how much foilage etc it has underneath. There's a river fairly local to me that looks peaceful on the surface but underneath the current would make easy work of most people.

The water is very cold, the banks look very high in some parts, soaking heavy clothing, wellies full of water and maybe the currents are strong. The dog managed to get itself out of the water in the end IMO.

Absolutely fair point.

If the dog had gone into the water and she went to look for it maybe she actually said something on the conf call?

Maybe why Police say they're not treating it as suspicious and why they are scouring the water.

They are also asking for dashcam footage etc. Which makes me think that they think there's a chance she could have ran off. As bizarre as that seems.
