The timing of the arrest seemed significant too IMO. NB had a burial. And people like him will stop at nothing to find their 'evidence' of foul play. So I am very glad that the police have acted. JMO.

And then there is the inquest . Can be delayed beyond set time frame. I hope this one is not for the sake of the family. One of my family member’s inquests - killed by drug driver has been opened and adjourned for a long time now. Not helped by the perp going back to the USA.
That is so shocking !Sorry for you loss in such a manner

I mean the police/authorities don't usually order the shutdown of social media accounts, that's out of their purview. That would usually be done by social media company itself, if it violates their TOS. IMO only.

Yes I think you're right but it's not just about their TOS it's about the law as well. I mentioned in an earlier post my view about potential legislation changes. This was changed in the UK recently wrt the Online Safety Bill and I'm of the view it needs looking at again in light of what we've seen in this case - ie. platforms rewarding the posting of controversial/harmful material.

There's also the litigation route as well I suppose, eg. Martin Lewis settles lawsuit against Facebook over scam ads

All MOO.

What are you suggesting that he would have stalked the funeral or burial plot?

There may have been officers there to prevent that from happening.

But yes, people do sometimes attend funerals or take videos of 'body recovery' scenes, with the intent to post on the internet for all to see. It's a shame but not uncommon.

Some of these ghouls on mainstream SM will stop at nothing to get hold of what they call 'evidence', whether it be photographing things illicitly or digging in certain areas. So yes, I'm glad that the guy who has done both these things is now not allowed anywhere near the churchyard. JMO.

I completely agree with you and have always found that line about NB's struggles causing challenges for her family, disturbing, almost with an air of blame attached to NB herself. Odd wording, as if it had been said in some sort of protesting or defensive or explanatory way by somebody in her family who was trying to justify some action of their own. MOO.
Interesting. I did not read it in the same way though. I am sure a person with alcohol issues causes challenges to their family , male or female.
Especially when there are young children in the family.
We do not know anything about NB or PA. We do not know who made the call which prompted the concern for welfare visit. It could have been a neighbour hearing a row ,loud noises etc.
Also it was not stated who the concern for welfare visit was for, only that it was to the address.
Would we be so outraged if it was Paul who was the one with alcohol issues,

Just posting this example of cold-water shock.

This young man, with an impressively developed musculature, died of cold-water shock, when he dived into cold water, dressed and ready for swimming. His friend nearly died trying to rescue him. He couldn't drag the victim out as he also succumbed to the cold water. It's surprising, I think, that the water doesn't even need to be really cold.

"Hines-Rager is believed to have drowned due to cold-water shock, which is a physical response to sudden immersion in cold water that can occur in water up to 77 degrees Fahrenheit, but is most common in water 59 degrees or colder."

Yes it’s not hypothermia which takes 30 mins to develop but a gasp reflex that fills the lungs instantly with water.

It is very common on hot days when people of any ability jump into cold water. The water doesn’t have to be freezing either. Locally a fit 16 year old lost his life jumping from a very low foot bridge into a calm lake last summer in front of his school friends. Absolutely tragic and totally avoidable if he had waded in an acclimatised before jumping.

Only 20 days before NB went missing, approx 47min away this happened in Lancashire:

"Police have issued a CCTV appeal to the public after a woman was chased along a canal path in Barrowford.

The woman in her 30s had been running along a canal path on January 7. Around 11:25am, a man approached the woman along the canal on Barrowford Road. Police say he attempted to chase after her and even tried to stop and grab her. A member of the public managed to help the woman."

The conspiracy theories are as wild as ever on various parts of social media - if anything, worse than they were before. A lot of people are going to be really disappointed when they hear the results of the inquest later this year! I've never thought that there was any suggestion of foul play whatsoever in this case, but there are still three things which bother my mind from time to time: these are all MOO.

1) Why did NB's parents say this about her health, when what came out shortly afterwards via the police seemed to contradict it?
They said the disappearance of the 45-year-old mum from in Inskip, Lancashire, was totally out of character, Ernest saying she had no health problems and was in good spirits enjoying her job.

<modsnip - insinuations against a person not named POI by LE>

3) Why, if it was an accidental fall into the water near the bench, did no police diver or SGI specialist find her body in the first two weeks?

Why did PA talk in general terms in his TV interview about the last morning and who usually loaded the car, rather than be specific about who did it on that particular morning, ie, NB? Why did he twice mention changing into his gym clothes before going out to search for her?

In reply:
1. - Perhaps the parents did not know about any struggles NB was having. Adult children (and their siblings) tend to hide alot from ageing parents.
<modsnip>
3. It is very difficult to find a dead body in water.

1) Actually I am sure it would be difficult not to notice ! They blamed her stopping the HRT treatment for her " problems" ?
Also they said later that she had been the centre of their lives . I remember thinking at the time what an odd thing to say when you have another daughter .
