Well I got lost and was late enough to miss much of the action. Disaster for me. Got the last seat in the gallery.

<modsnip: Name calling not allowed> is indeed in HMP Newhall, looking very glum in a bright blue shirt. Her eyebrows were constantly sadly raised looking sorry for herself. She looked around occasionally. She had toilet rolls conspicuously positioned on her desk, presumably to show she might cry.

HMP New Hall will resume the video call when the judge returns.

Journalists were upset and confused about potential reporting restrictions, but happier that it will only take the judge 20 minutes or so to formulate the court order.

A journalist brought up LL’s convictions being questioned in the media, Judge Goss was very dismissive saying with the internet, everyone can be a reporter.

I couldn't say online but when I first spoke to the lass who said she was on the Holly House wing at New Hall, I had it checked through a colleague of mine and confirmed it. She's there indefinitely too pending more intensive psych evals.

"Women with the most complex and challenging mental health issues are housed in Holly House, which is situated above the prison's healthcare unit.
'Holly is staffed by a group of dedicated officers who have no medical training but who deal with some of the most difficult behaviour daily,'
the report says.
'Their compassion and care for those in their charge is exemplary and most commendable.'

It continues:
'Although not necessarily the prison's fault, the inability to provide an appropriate environment, particularly for those with complex mental health needs, remains an issue.'

Healthcare at the prison is overseen by health and social care provider Care UK, which said the most serious issues it faces is the ongoing shortage of nurses and mental health specialists."

This is the first I've read about LL having a part-time job at a well known high street stationary company. Can't stop thinking about the love of notes now I've read this. The link to the article is the three letters in blue. JMO

Dr Dewi Evans was in the media about many more dislodged breathing tubes when LL was on shift, dating back to 2014. This could be extra evidence to back up the Baby K retrial.

Dr Dewi blabbing to the media probably compromised that evidence though.

I’ve got to admit I don’t think the prosecution should work with him again. He’s a liability

So has she had a "dicky fit" when she returned to prison to avoid transfer.
Is she trying her luck for an easier life in case her hopes of appeal fall flat.
Marvellous how she appears again to watch when it involves "herself"

That to me reminds me of funerals I've been to of young mums where they left young children behind and so many women getting into the drama of it and one even nudging me frantic with excitement when she saw one of the young children arrive at the funeral saying "There she is! There she is!". I was horrified by this on the day but have seen it in numerous females (didn't notice it in the males). I think some women find tragic death fascinating and want to gossip about it. I think this is a sick-in-the-head view on death to be honest. JMO MOO

Judge says can report the charge to be retried, and that prosecution don’t intend to retry other charges.

Can say the proposed length of the trial is 2-3 weeks.

Cannot report any evidence of Baby K charge, or anything relating to it.

The court has resumed following an adjournment.

11:30am

The judge confirms what can be reported to the media, in that the prosecution intends to seek a retrial on the attempted murder case of Child K, listed for June 10, 2024, expected to last between two and three weeks.

Judge says the other five charges are not officially on file, because she’s appealing and if her convictions were quashed, she’d have to have a retrial.

They’re basically on file though.

The media have to say something like “prosecution don’t presently intend to proceed with the other five charges”

Sorry if this question has already been answered. Is it also today her defence are putting forward her appeal request?

Sorry I’m totally out the loop, I’ve taken a step back from reading since a few days after her conviction as it was completely overwhelming.

On Monday, the Crown Prosecution Service said it wanted to pursue a retrial at the same court on one of the outstanding charges – that Letby attempted to murder a baby girl, known as Child K, in February 2016.

A provisional trial date of June 10 2024 at the same court has been fixed, with an estimated length of two to three weeks.
