I’m at Liverpool combined courts this morning for the first appearance of Thomas Cashman, 34, who was charged with the murder of Olivia Pratt-Korbel on Saturday. As you may expect there is a heavy police presence as well as a pack of photographers and camera crews

We’ve received the court list for this case, listing the charges. Paul Russell, charged with assisting an offender, is accused of driving Cashman to an address and disposing of his clothing, according to the wording of the charge

Russell is escorted into the dock, wearing a black Under Armour t-shirt. He confirms his name and address. He is represented by John Rowan.
Mr Rowan stands and informs the court there will be no application for bail.

The prosecution outline the reasons for an application for Russell to be remanded in custody. These cannot be reported at this stage

The offence is in indictable only, meaning Russell will not be asked to enter a plea today, as the case can only be heard in the crown court. The case has been sent to Liverpool Crown Court where he will appear on October 31. Russell is taken back down to the cells

Cashman will be next in court. He will be represented in this hearing by solicitor Thomas Keaney. The court clerk calls down to the cells and asks for the defendant to be brought into court

Cashman, wearing a light blue T-shirt and jeans is brought into the dock. He speaks to confirm his name and address

The magistrates court cannot consider bail for an offence of murder, and it will have to be heard in the crown court. There is discussion about whether the case can be heard there today or tomorrow

There is a pause while the court explores whether the first crown court hearing will take place this afternoon or tomorrow. Cashman sits in the dock with his head bowed.

Cashman will now be appearing in the crown court this afternoon at 2pm. He is asked to stand where he is told he will be brought back in a few hours. He is escorted back down to the cells

Cashman appeared wearing a grey t-shirt at Liverpool Crown Court where he was remanded in custody.

He spent most of the 15-minute hearing staring at the floor and was told his
provisional trial date had been set for March 6 next year.
David McLachlan KC, prosecuting, said the trial is expected to last four weeks.

Judge Neil Flewitt KC said Cashman will appear at the next hearing via video-link.
He also told him: 'In the meantime you must remain in custody.'

Does anyone know when Paul Russell will be in court? Does his case follow Cashmans? Not sure how it works
