28 Feb 2021, Sunday – WC is alleged to have indecently exposed himself to female staff at a McDonalds in South London. The incident is said to have been captured on CCTV. Staff reported it to police that night. 'Had he been arrested he would have had his firearm licence revoked and been suspended from duty', according to a former Met DCI. (SOURCE the Sun). “It is understood that [two] officers had carried out a number plate check on a vehicle after the offence was reported online and obtained the name of its owner. But they had yet to carry out an interview.” “WC was not identified as a suspect in the flashing incident until he was linked to it by homicide detectives after they had made him the key suspect in Sarah’s disappearance and started investigating his background.” (SOURCE Standard). On 13th March it’s reported that there may have been TWO such incidents – “The Met said: "On 28 February the Met created a crime report in relation to two separate indecent exposure incidents at a fast food restaurant in south London. It would be inappropriate to comment further given the IOPC investigation." Eyewitnesses at the burger bar in South London took details of the vehicle allegedly used by a man who flashed at staff before running off. Cops were given CCTV from the incident by staff along with a description and registration of the car being driven by the suspect, a source said today. (SOURCE Irish Sun)


2 Mar 2021, Tuesday 7pm – WC (the accused) began a 12 hour shift, before going on leave. He was due back at work on March 8th. (SOURCE Yahoo news)


3 Mar 2021, Wednesday:-

8:00pm – Note - the reliability of this entry is called into doubt with information received at WC's first court appearance on 13th March - WC finished his shift at US Embassy, Nine Elms. “It is understood PC Couzens worked a 2pm to 8pm relief shift at the US Embassy in Nine Elms, south-west London, on the day of Sarah’s disappearance. He was off-duty during the time she was last seen.” (SOURCE Metro)

9:00pm – Sarah left her friend’s house at Leathwaite Road, Clapham to walk the 2.5 mile distance to her home in Tulse Hill/Brixton.

9:14pm (approx. – calculated from being a 14 minute call) Sarah called her partner JL on her journey and arranged to meet him the following day.

9:15pm – Sarah was captured on CCTV walking alone (SOURCE Yahoo)

9:28pm – Sarah ended her call with JL. “the court heard there has been no further activity on her mobile phone since then, adding that the phone has not yet been recovered. It is not clear whether the phone had been switched off or run out of battery." (SOURCE Yahoo news)

9:28pm – Sarah is spotted on doorbell camera footage on A205 Poynders Road. (SOURCE Yahoo news, following first court appearance. Previously this was thought to have been at 9:30pm) ) It is not publicly known what side of the road Sarah was walking on but locals have opined that it was probably most natural for her to be walking on the north pavement / side of the road (that is the left hand side if you are walking in the direction she was walking) if she had walked on the A205 through Clapham Common, where there is no pavement along parts of the south side. Friends widely report in appeals that Sarah’s last phone signal was located close to Clarence Avenue. (SOURCE missing appeals and several local WS members)

9:32pm – Sarah was “caught on the camera of a marked police car" (SOURCE Yahoo news)

9:35pm a bus camera captured two figures on Poynders Road and a white Vauxhall Astra with its hazard lights flashing. A second bus camera captured the same car with both front doors open. The registration of the vehicle – confirmed to be a car hired in Dover – was captured and tracked by police as it left London towards Kent (SOURCE Yahoo news)

7 Mar 2021, Sunday 2:43pm – Police release new information – Sarah was spotted on CCTV at approx. 2130 hours (9:30pm) walking alone on Poynders Road “from the junction with Cavendish Road, in the direction of Tulse Hill.” (SOURCE Met Police) Specialist Crime Command take over the investigation. 8 Mar 2021, Monday 6:49pm – Police say they have visited 750 homes in the area and they have seized a number of CCTV recordings and renew appeals for doorbell, CCTV and dashcam footage, including delivery drivers, in the Poynders Road area at approximately 9:30pm on 3 March. They say “the investigation continues to be treated as a missing person’s enquiry but due to its complex nature and concerns for Sarah’s welfare it is being led by the Met’s Specialist Crime Command” (SOURCE Met Police). 9 Mar 2021, Tuesday 3:53pm – police start searching drains in Poynders Road. Two police officers with dogs search outside nearby Oaklands estate and gardens in surrounding streets.


9 Mar 2021, Tuesday

4:30pm – Police cordon off a new crime scene outside Poynders Court, a block of flats on Poynders Road-side. A forensic team shows up in a van. The cordon extends for about 100 metres from Rodenhurst Road to Cavendish Road. There is an inner cordon around a parking area to the front and side of Poynders Court and a small communal garden area adjacent, on the corner of Rodenhurst. Traffic is blocked in all directions. Forensics officers appear to wait for dark before searching the road and pavement and a bin area of Poynders Court with UV lamps, place down markers, are seen photographing a drain and kerb. A sniffer dog is also used.

5:05pm – police issue two photographs of Sarah (not from the night she went missing) one depicting her wearing the turquoise jacket she was last seen in and the other depicting her wearing a red waterproof jacket. (The Sainsbury’s CCTV image previously released showed Sarah’s face mostly concealed by a facemask). Police say “we have committed significant resources to this investigation, with assistance coming from across the Met. I want to remain clear that at this time we have no information to suggest that Sarah has come to any harm and we retain an open mind as to the circumstances.” (SOURCE Met Police)

8pm – approx. WC and a female in her thirties are arrested at their home in Freemens Way, Deal, Kent, according to an infographic published in the Irish Sun.

10:10pm – A resident of Freemens Way in Deal, Kent and neighbour of WC tells reporters he came home 'at about 10:10pm and it was all cordoned with unmarked police cars. They arrested two people.' (SOURCE Guardian)

11:54pm – police announced that they arrested two people at an address in Kent in connection with Sarah’s disappearance; a man aged in his forties who is a serving police officer (it’s announced the next day at 3:00pm that this was on suspicion of kidnap), and a woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Police say that Sarah’s family has been kept updated of these developments. DCI Katherine Goodwin says this is a fast moving investigation and we are doing everything we can to find Sarah. Through the night to next day – police with dogs search secluded woodland near Deal in Kent, exact location unknown to press. (SOURCE MyLondon) . A retired farmer of Fridd Farm north of the village of Bethersden says officers visited his property late on Tuesday. His farm is 3 miles SW of the Great Chart golf and leisure complex. Police arrived around midnight. A helicopter flew over about 3am or 4am. Another local resident said most of the woodland is privately owned, police were searching his fields at about 12:30am and they went in his garden with flashlights and dogs searching all the outbuildings.

10 Mar 2021, Wednesday 8:50am approx – Sarah's cousin TE is reported to have said the family hope the arrests will lead to her being found safe. Asst. Commissioner Nick Ephgrave said detectives really hope the 33-year old is still alive. Police will not reveal the exact nature of the arrest of the man but say their enquiries suggest he “was not on duty at the time of Sarah’s disappearance”. (SOURCE Metro)

10 Mar 2021, Wednesday, Mid-morning – About 150 police scour the abandoned Great Chart Golf and Leisure in Bear’s Lane, near Ashford, Kent, and surrounding farmland/woodland. 10 Mar 2021, Wednesday 3:00pm – police announce that the man has been further arrested on suspicion of murder and a separate allegation of indecent exposure (against another woman). Police say they are searching locations in London and Kent, including a property in Deal and an area of woodland near Ashford. (SOURCE Met Police)

10 Mar 2021, Wednesday, 4:24pm – police helicopters fly overhead at the disused leisure complex and a forensics van entered at about 4pm. A white van with blacked out windows arrived at 4:26pm. (SOURCE MyLondon)

10 Mar 2021 – A few reports say that suspect was found unconscious in his cell at Wandsworth police station, with a head injury. He was rushed to St George’s Hospital, Tooting, under armed guard but later discharged back to the police station (SOURCES ITV and Standard). Other reports say this happened on Thursday 11th March. 10 Mar 2021, Wednesday 8:25pm – Met Police Commissioner Cressida Dick gives an update. She says that human remains have been discovered in an area of woodland in Ashford, Kent. (SOURCE Met Police). The woodland is next to an abandoned leisure complex. (SOURCE MyLondon). The Commissioner's announcement can be watched at ITV's YouTube channel here and the full text is as follows:

"As you are aware, a man has been arrested on suspicion of Sarah’s murder. This evening detectives and search teams investigating Sarah’s disappearance have found, very sadly, what appears to be human remains. The discovery was made in an area of woodland in Ashford in Kent. As you can imagine at this early stage we are not able to confirm any identity and indeed that may take us some considerable time. Specialist officers have been with Sarah’s family to update them on the investigation and to continue to give them the best support we possibly can.

The news today that it was a Metropolitan Police Officer who was arrested on suspicion of Sarah’s murder has sent shockwaves and anger through the public and through the Met. I speak on behalf of all my colleagues when I say that we are utterly appalled at this dreadful, dreadful news. Our job is to patrol the streets and to protect people.

The investigation is large, it’s very fast moving, extremely determined. We have had and continue to have hundreds of officers and staff working around the clock. Sarah’s disappearance in these awful and wicked circumstances I know are every family’s worst nightmare. Londoners will want to know that it is thankfully incredibly rare for a woman to be abducted from our streets but I completely understand that despite that women in London and the wider public perhaps those particularly in the area where Sarah went missing, will be worried and may be feeling scared. 11 Mar 2021, Thursday – morning – Sarah’s uncle NE says Sarah did not know the arrested officer and that the family are baffled as to how he is linked to her disappearance.

11 Mar 2021, Thursday - The Telegraph reported that footage from a TfL bus on Poynders Road had been obtained by detectives earlier this week. (SOURCE MyLondon). The Sun reported that it was this footage which is believed to have led to the breakthrough in the case. (SOURCE Sun). It’s then reported on 13th March in the Times and the Sun that bus camera footage “took days to secure” because TfL are closed at weekends. (SOURCE Sun)

11 Mar 2021, Thursday 6:02pm – Sarah’s family say they are grateful to the police and ask the public to come forward if they have any additional information. Police say the arrested man has been further detained in custody at a London police station after an application to extend his detention was granted at Wimbledon Magistrates’ court. Police also say that a woman in her 30s who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail to return to a police station on a date in mid-April. 12 Mar 2021, Friday 9:15pm CHARGES ARE ANNOUNCED. CPS announces by Tweet “We have tonight authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Wayne Couzens with murder and kidnapping in relation to the death of Sarah Everard” and “CPS Head of Special Crime Rosemary Ainslie said: “Criminal proceedings are now active and nothing should be published that could jeopardise the defendant’s right to a fair trial.” The full statement by CPS :

“Rosemary Ainslie, Head of Special Crime at the CPS, said: “Following a referral of evidence by the Metropolitan Police related to the death of Sarah Everard, the CPS has authorised the police to charge Wayne Couzens with murder and kidnapping.

“He will appear at Westminster magistrates' court tomorrow (13 March) for his first hearing.

“The function of the CPS is not to decide whether a person is guilty of a criminal offence, but to make fair, independent and objective assessments about whether it is appropriate to present charges to a court to consider.

“Criminal proceedings are now active and nothing should be published that could jeopardise the defendant’s right to a fair trial.”

12 Mar 2021, Friday 9:32pm - Met Police update:

“A serving police constable was tonight charged with the kidnap and murder of Sarah Everard.

Wayne Couzens, 48 (20.12.72) is due to appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 13 March.”

“In the interests of clarity about these exceptional events, we are releasing further details of Couzens' employment with the Metropolitan Police Service.

Wayne Couzens joined the MPS on 10 September 2018. His first posting was to South Area where he joined a response team covering the Bromley area. He then moved to the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command on 1 February 2020 where his primary role was on uniformed patrol duties of diplomatic premises, mainly a range of Embassies.” (SOURCE Met Police)

12 Mar 2021, Friday, 10:44pm – Met Police tweets a media advisory notice - which reads :

The Attorney General confirms the requirement not to publish material which could jeopardise a fair trial.

Following the disappearance of Sarah Everard on the evening of 3 March, a police officer has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The Attorney General Rt. Hon Michael Ellis QC MP wishes to amplify the importance of the requirement not to publish any material that could create a substantial risk that the course of justice in these proceedings could be seriously impeded or prejudiced. This includes publishing information online. Publishing this information could amount to contempt of court and could affect the fairness of any future trial.

In particular, the Attorney General draws attention to the requirement not to publish material that asserts or assumes the guilt of anyone who has been arrested. That is an issue to be determined by the jury if in due course there is a trial. The Attorney General also wishes to remind journalists and members of the public that it can amount to contempt of court to publish information relating to untested and unconnected allegations against the suspect, and matters adverse to his character, the admissibility of which a Judge in due course may need to determine.

Editors, publishers and social media users should take legal advice to ensure they are in a position to fully comply with the obligations to which they are subject under the Contempt of Court Act 1981.

The Attorney General’s Office is monitoring the coverage of this investigation.

12 Mar 2021, Friday 10:08pm - It's reported that WC was taken to hospital today for a second head injury in custody, and again discharged back into custody following treatment. (SOURCE Express)


13 Mar 2021, Saturday 10:00am - it’s reported that WC arrived at court. He “appeared to have a red wound on the top of his forehead.” “The court heard the officer is accused of kidnapping Ms Everard in the Poynders Road area of Clapham.” (SOURCE Standard)


13 Mar 2021, Saturday - morning - first court apearance - Flanked by two police officers, Couzens sat with his head in his hands while wearing a grey jumper. He was remanded in custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on March 16.

Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring said: "Mr Couzens, I am sending your case to the crown court sitting at the Central Criminal Court, what you might know as the Old Bailey.

"You will appear there for your first appearance on the 16th of March. I don't have the power to consider the question of bail. That will be considered should you wish to make an application to the court on the 16th of March.

The accused:- Born in Dover, [the accused] did not join the police until later in life. He spent 20 years working at his family's garage business, BCB Dover. In between leaving the family firm and becoming a Met officer, [the accused] did a spell in the territorial army [2002-2004]and worked at the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, where he had firearms training, as part of the team protecting Dungeness nuclear power station. It saw him equipped with a Heckler & Koch G36 rifle as he accompanied nuclear material being transported around the country by road, rail or sea. But the prestige role came to an abrupt end when he suddenly failed his yearly fitness test. It meant he was effectively demoted to guarding the power station building with the travel halted. By 2008, he was a traffic officer with Kent Police in Folkestone. (SOURCE Daily Mail). [The accused] joined the Metropolitan Police Service on September 10 2018. His first posting was with a response team covering the Bromley area. 9 Mar 2021, Tuesday :-

Unknown time - “a member of the public finds two number plates stashed in Rodenhurst Road and they are placed in evidence bags.” (SOURCE The Telegraph)

3:53pm – Police start searching drains in Poynders Road. Two police officers with dogs search outside nearby Oaklands Estate and gardens in surrounding streets.

4:30pm – Police cordon off a new crime scene outside Poynders Court, a block of flats on Poynders Road-side. A forensics team shows up in a van. The cordon extends for about 100 metres from Rodenhurst Road to Cavendish Road. There is an inner cordon around a parking area to the front and side of Poynders Court and a small communal garden area adjacent, on the corner of Rodenhurst Rd. Traffic is blocked in all directions. Forensics officers appear to wait for dark before searching the road and pavement and a bin area of Poynders Court with UV lamps, place down markers, and are seen photographing a drain and kerb. A sniffer dog is also used. (MyLondon photographs - kerb/road/drain, and sniffer dog) One (possibly uncorroborated) report in MyLondon suggests that one of the flats in the block was also of interest - "Officers were deployed to a block of flats in Clapham on Tuesday, with one property being of particular interest. 5:05pm – Police issue two photographs of Sarah (not from the night she went missing) one depicting her wearing the turquoise jacket she was last seen in and the other depicting her wearing a red waterproof jacket. (The Sainsbury’s CCTV image previously released showed Sarah’s face was mostly concealed by a facemask). Police say “we have committed significant resources to this investigation, with assistance coming from across the Met. I want to remain clear that at this time we have no information to suggest that Sarah has come to any harm and we retain an open mind as to the circumstances.” (SOURCE Met Police. 8:00pm – approx. The accused and a female in her thirties are arrested at their home in Freemen's Way, Deal, Kent, the time taken from an infographic published in the Irish Sun. The Telegraph reports that the arrests were made at 8:30pm. The Daily Mail reports that the woman is aged 39. A neighbour relayed that when police arrived at the house in Freemen's Way there was some shouting and someone threw something out of a window. Police then examined the ground at the front with a torch. (SOURCE KentLive). Police are understood to have taken a memory card as part of their investigation. Detectives are said to have found the micro SD card during a search of the semi-detached property. (SOURCE Daily Mail). “it was suggested last night that plain clothes officers may have been secretly monitoring the suspect's movements for days.” “Events moved quickly on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Neighbours noticed a Land Rover parked close to [the accused's] house in the Kent coastal town of Deal, and thought it was being watched. 10:10pm – A resident of Freemen's Way in Deal, Kent and neighbour of the accused tells reporters he came home "at about 10:10pm and it was all cordoned with unmarked police cars. They arrested two people." (SOURCE Guardian). "I came back last night from a motorbike ride about 10pm and there were a load of plain clothes police officers in the street. 'They had arrested [the accused]. I saw him in handcuffs being put in the back of an unmarked silver car." (SOURCE Daily Mail)

11:54pm – Police announce that they arrested two people at an address in Kent in connection with Sarah’s disappearance; a man aged in his forties who is a serving police officer (it is announced the next day at 3:00pm that this arrest was on suspicion of kidnap), and a woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Police say that Sarah’s family has been kept updated of these developments. DCI Katherine Goodwin says this is a fast moving investigation and we are doing everything we can to find Sarah. Through the night to next day – Police with dogs search secluded woodland near Deal in Kent, exact location unreported. (SOURCE MyLondon) . A retired farmer of Fridd Farm north of the village of Bethersden says officers visited his property late on Tuesday. His farm is 3 miles SW of the Great Chart Golf and Leisure complex which is also a disused paintball centre. Police arrived around midnight. A helicopter flew over about 3am or 4am. Another local resident said most of the woodland is privately owned, police were searching his fields at about 12:30am and they went in his garden with flashlights and dogs searching all the outbuildings. Early morning – Police erect a tent in the front garden of the house in Freemen's Way in Deal, Kent. Two black cars, a Seat Exeo and a two-door Peugeot 107, are lifted from the driveway and transported away. (SOURCE MyLondon and Daily Mail)

8:50am approx – Sarah's cousin TE is reported to have said the family hope the arrests will lead to her being found safe. Asst. Commissioner Nick Ephgrave said detectives really hope the 33-year old is still alive. Police will not reveal the exact nature of the arrest of the man but say their enquiries suggest he “was not on duty at the time of Sarah’s disappearance”. (SOURCE Metro)

3:00pm – police announce that the man has been further arrested on suspicion of murder and a separate allegation of indecent exposure (against another woman). 4:24pm – Police helicopters fly overhead at the disused leisure complex and a forensics van is noted to have entered at about 4:00pm. A white van with blacked out windows arrived at 4:26pm. (SOURCE MyLondon)

Evening - A few reports say that suspect was found unconscious in his cell at Wandsworth police station, with a head injury. He was rushed to St George’s Hospital, Tooting, under armed guard but later discharged back to the police station (SOURCES ITV and Standard). Other reports say this happened on Thursday 11th March. 8:25pm – Met. Police Commissioner Cressida Dick gives an update. She says that human remains have been discovered in an area of woodland in Ashford, Kent. (SOURCE Met Police). The woodland is next to an abandoned leisure complex. (SOURCE MyLondon). The Commissioner's announcement can be watched at ITV's YouTube channel here and the full text is as follows:

"As you are aware, a man has been arrested on suspicion of Sarah’s murder. This evening detectives and search teams investigating Sarah’s disappearance have found, very sadly, what appears to be human remains. The discovery was made in an area of woodland in Ashford in Kent. As you can imagine at this early stage we are not able to confirm any identity and indeed that may take us some considerable time. Specialist officers have been with Sarah’s family to update them on the investigation and to continue to give them the best support we possibly can.

The news today that it was a Metropolitan Police Officer who was arrested on suspicion of Sarah’s murder has sent shockwaves and anger through the public and through the Met. I speak on behalf of all my colleagues when I say that we are utterly appalled at this dreadful, dreadful news. Our job is to patrol the streets and to protect people.

The investigation is large, it’s very fast moving, extremely determined. We have had and continue to have hundreds of officers and staff working around the clock. Sarah’s disappearance in these awful and wicked circumstances I know are every family’s worst nightmare. Londoners will want to know that it is thankfully incredibly rare for a woman to be abducted from our streets but I completely understand that despite that women in London and the wider public perhaps those particularly in the area where Sarah went missing, will be worried and may be feeling scared. 11 Mar 2021, Thursday :-

Morning – Sarah’s uncle NE says Sarah did not know the arrested officer and that the family are baffled as to how he is linked to her disappearance. (SOURCE MyLondon)

Morning - The Telegraph reported that footage from a TfL bus on Poynders Road had been obtained by detectives earlier this week. (SOURCE MyLondon). The Sun reported that it was this footage which is believed to have led to the breakthrough in the case. (SOURCE Sun). It’s then reported on 13th March in the Times and the Sun that bus camera footage “took days to secure” because TfL are closed at weekends. (SOURCE Sun)

6:02pm – Sarah’s family say they are grateful to the police and ask the public to come forward if they have any additional information. Police say the arrested man has been further detained in custody at a London police station after an application to extend his detention was granted at Wimbledon Magistrates’ court. Police also say that a woman in her 30s who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail to return to a police station on a date in mid-April. 7:24pm - Police announce that the Met has made 5 self-referrals to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). The IOPC’s determinations in relation to each referral are printed in red.

  1. Mandatory referral, linked to the conduct of the man arrested. IOPC determined this should be locally investigated by the Met Police.
  2. Voluntary referral, linked to the conduct of the man arrested. IOPC determined this should be locally investigated by the Met Police.

“Rosemary Ainslie, Head of Special Crime at the CPS, said: “Following a referral of evidence by the Metropolitan Police related to the death of Sarah Everard, the CPS has authorised the police to charge Wayne Couzens with murder and kidnapping.

“The function of the CPS is not to decide whether a person is guilty of a criminal offence, but to make fair, independent and objective assessments about whether it is appropriate to present charges to a court to consider.

“Criminal proceedings are now active and nothing should be published that could jeopardise the defendant’s right to a fair trial.”


9:32pm - Met Police update:-

“A serving police constable was tonight charged with the kidnap and murder of Sarah Everard.

Wayne Couzens, 48 (20.12.72) is due to appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 13 March.”

“In the interests of clarity about these exceptional events, we are releasing further details of Couzens' employment with the Metropolitan Police Service.

Wayne Couzens joined the MPS on 10 September 2018. His first posting was to South Area where he joined a response team covering the Bromley area. He then moved to the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command on 1 February 2020 where his primary role was on uniformed patrol duties of diplomatic premises, mainly a range of Embassies.” (SOURCE Met Police)


10:44pm – Met Police tweets a media advisory notice - which reads :

The Attorney General confirms the requirement not to publish material which could jeopardise a fair trial.

Following the disappearance of Sarah Everard on the evening of 3 March, a police officer has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The Attorney General Rt. Hon Michael Ellis QC MP wishes to amplify the importance of the requirement not to publish any material that could create a substantial risk that the course of justice in these proceedings could be seriously impeded or prejudiced. This includes publishing information online. Publishing this information could amount to contempt of court and could affect the fairness of any future trial.

In particular, the Attorney General draws attention to the requirement not to publish material that asserts or assumes the guilt of anyone who has been arrested. That is an issue to be determined by the jury if in due course there is a trial. The Attorney General also wishes to remind journalists and members of the public that it can amount to contempt of court to publish information relating to untested and unconnected allegations against the suspect, and matters adverse to his character, the admissibility of which a Judge in due course may need to determine.

Editors, publishers and social media users should take legal advice to ensure they are in a position to fully comply with the obligations to which they are subject under the Contempt of Court Act 1981.

The Attorney General’s Office is monitoring the coverage of this investigation.

Morning - Flanked by two police officers, [the accused] sat with his head in his hands while wearing a grey jumper. He was remanded in custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on March 16.

Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring said: "Mr Couzens, I am sending your case to the crown court sitting at the Central Criminal Court, what you might know as the Old Bailey.

"You will appear there for your first appearance on the 16th of March. I don't have the power to consider the question of bail. That will be considered should you wish to make an application to the court on the 16th of March.

1:00pm approx. - “Police officers have cordoned off a large area in Sandwich as part of the ongoing Sarah Everard murder investigation.” “Police have cordoned off The Rope Walk between Malcolm Waites Garage / Cow Leas Meadow and all the way through the town.” “It is understood police are awaiting specialist teams.” (SOURCE Isle of Thanet News)

3:40pm - Sandwich Town Council put out a notice to local residents not to gather at a specific location being investigated by Kent Police.

5:00pm – “A new search focussing on a waterside path and recycling bin has been opened by police investigating the death of Sarah Everard.” “Met Police teams have today cordoned off a part of the pathway alongside a stream in Sandwich in relation to the ongoing investigation.” "I'm told police raced down and were seen arriving on blue lights and have not been letting anyone through.” (SOURCE Kent Online)

I noticed the case was listed for mention at the old Bailey today - under contempt of court. He’s obviously used this opportunity to indicate he wants to plead. Probably the only decent thing he has done.
 
Last night it was reported that 26 Met Police colleagues of Couzens have been convicted of sex crimes, including rape and possessing indecent images of children, since 2016.

Two of the officers were jailed in April, a month after Sarah Everard was raped and murdered by Couzens in Kent.

Additionally, five Met officers carried out sex attacks while on duty since 2010 and one was recruited last year despite a conviction for indecent exposure.
