Sean Ryan (Down)

Here's the Latest I could find on Sean, there's quite a bit of info in here about the details around when he went missing.

I've never given up hope: Co Down mum still searching for missing son last seen 21 years ago

"A Co Down mother-of-five whose youngest son vanished more than 20 years ago has told how she will never give up hope of him coming home.

Patricia Douglas vowed she will never stop looking for her lost boy Sean Ryan, who went missing as a 17-year-old near the Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare.

Patricia (71) last saw her son on August 31, 1998, when he left their family home in Downpatrick. He had been due back at school the next day.

Relatives spotted him in Galway a day later, and he was again seen near the Cliffs of Moher a few days after that. He hasn't been heard of or seen since."

Very said, but it sounds like he may have been thinking of self harm? (that's based on him being near the cliffs) Maybe he'd taken money out to travel to Galway to commit suicide away from his home hoping that he wouldn't be found?

Bumping up for Sean. I am not sure where to look for updates on his case.

Circumstances of Disappearance
Sean left Downpatrick 2 September 1998 of his own free will and didn't tell anyone why he decided to leave.

In the first week he met two people who knew him, one was his cousin and the other was a Garda. Neither of the two knew that Sean was missing at the time and neither suspected that there was any problem as Sean told them that he was touring around the country for a while.

The two sightings were in Galway and Clare. He was last seen near the Cliffs of Moher Co Clare on 5 September 1998.

Sean was an A Level student but was also interested in Catering and may be employed in a Restaurant.

Sean was last seen on the 1st September 1998 in his home in Downpatrick at 9.00. There were reports that he had been sighted in Belfast. It is thought he might have traveled to Armagh to get a Bus to Monaghan in Eire, and then on to Galway and Doolin in County Clare.

Sean was a very good friend of mine. I've known him since we were 7-8 yrs old. He was my first kiss. I think about him often. I still have hope he's out there somewhere.
