Copies of several certificates awarded to KR are at link. She has the time for these jail run programs, just saying...

According to court documents, Judge Mrazik will consider the motion to grant Richins bail as well as any argument from the state prosecutors against the motion on Monday, Oct. 28. A second hearing to consider any additional motions has been scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 12.

What's wrong with letter her out on bail at this point? Is she a flight risk??? She's lost parental rights, correct? As long as there is no unsupervised visitation of the kids, many would probably be okay with letter her out on bail.

Well, she did try to write letters instructing family/friends to lie for her (allegedly). I think witness tampering is generally grounds for denial of bail.

In the 17 months since Richins was taken into custody, her attorneys argued she has displayed "no indications of violence whatsoever," even enrolling in classes, where her participation was described by jail volunteers as "resolute" and "positive."

"The Court can now take that pattern of positive behavior into consideration in determining whether conditions can be set that insure the safety of the community," the appeal states.

I'd say that incarceration is the perfect place for KR. Especially since the last time she was free, she poisoned her husband and then used her own children to tell the story of his death in a children's book. No bail, thank you. JMO

Agree. No bail. She murdered her husband.

So what if she’s doing all this “right” stuff in prison. On the outside, she’s a threat to anyone who might get in her way. Definitely a threat to her children and Eric’s family.

And the book. Gag. For so many reasons.

One, she didn’t have an original thought, and couldn’t create a book without stealing the idea.

I’m looking for the link to what I read way back when, but KR was in an online writers’ group (maybe a Facebook group?). One of the writers wrote a book about her mother who had passed away before the writer’s children were born and was like a guardian angel for them.

This author posted quite a bit about her work, and is convinced KR stole the concept and organization of the book.

I haven’t read either book, so cannot verify for myself. But it sure wouldn’t surprise me, since KR is all about taking shortcuts to get what she wants.

IMO

KR attempted to kill ER previously [if I recall more than once] prior to the alleged successful attempt to murder him.

Additionally, dont her children need stability and having supervised visitation would be less than ideal? Maybe she should have thought about her kids before her own needs... only an opinion, not factual.

Yeh, I'm still on the rope as far if I think she should be free on bail or not.

can she harm someone or is she a flight risk?

Let’s see, she poisoned her Husband to death after multiple tries, allegedly, over money. She assaulted her sister in law, convicted, over money. Kouri Richins convicted of assaulting sister-in-law after violating probation.

I wonder if anyone else in her life has money, her mom or brother, her kids (maybe a trust)?

Edited to add, IMO she is right where she needs to be.

KR didn't write the book, though she claimed to. It was a ghost author. I think it might even have the ghost author's name on the cover. Kouri can't write an English sentence to save her life. I thought this immediately FWIW. I get kinda annoyed how folks keep saying she wrote the book, when it's so obvious she couldn't have. And not just for grammar reasons: as you say, she never does anything legit. She takes shortcuts.

All you have to do is listen to her and read some of the sentences in the book, and it would be clear that she didn't write it. Those sentence couldn't have come from her; they don't sound like her at all. Neither her vocabulary, nor her sentence structures. There is ZERO connection between the "voice" of that book and Kouri's "voice". The way folks write is often a bit different than the way they speak, but you can still generally match the two up. In Kouri's case, the book is neither compatible with the way she speaks, nor (by a long shot) with the way she writes.

In a different life, I might have been a forensic linguist (we didn't have those back in the day, and likely few now). I have the relevant degrees and linguistic facility. A forensic linguist would analyze the language and appearance of text and speech as it pertains to a crime. So, the discrepancies between Kouri's verbals and "her" book jump out at me.

PARK CITY — Prosecutors filed a motion on Friday to dismiss two charges against Kouri Darden Richins, a Kamas woman facing trial for the murder of her husband.

The filing asked the court to dismiss the charges without prejudice, meaning prosecutors would like to have the option to file charges against her again.

I haven't followed this case recently but did the defense attorney walk away?

Skye did, yes. I miss her sashaying around the courtroom in her delectable outfits. Those lemon-colored pumps with 6-inch stiletto heels added a je ne sais quoi element to the proceedings.

Case & court info from 6/5/23 thru 8/27/24 reference post #317 here:

9/23/24 Update: The case has made international news & defense attorney Kathy Nester informed a 3rd District Judge Richard Mrazik at a pretrial conference Sept. 23 she 7 her team plan to motion for a change of venue. One way to keep the case in Summit County but still avoid concerns about impartiality could be to draw jurors from neighboring counties. “Candidly, if we can keep the trial date 7 ask, reasonably, Salt Lake County jurors to drive up here,” Judge Richard Mrazik said, pointing out Summit County jurors may need to drive long distances regardless of the venue, “I'd rather do that than move the case to Matheson [Courthouse].” Motions re jury selection. Jury selection will begin on 4/28/25 thru 5/1/25. Items discussed: deadline for briefs re jury selection; limit public access to selection. Any specific questions; how many jurors? Utah has 8 jurors for non-capital cases. Defense wants 12 jurors & no alternate numbers discussed. Defense said they would file motion for 12 jurors. How many challenges for each side. Her attorneys also said they plan to ask the court to separate the charges into multiple trials. Richins has been held without bail since her May 2023 arrest & June 2023 detention hearing. Her attorneys want the court to reconsider that decision. A hearing is set for 10/28/24 @ 3:30apm and, if the documents are filed, will be when Judge Mrazik considers whether Richins should stay in jail ahead of her trial. Another hearing was scheduled for 11/12/24 @ 9:30am to hear other motions.
10/22/24 Update: In a new petition filed Oct. 22, attorneys for Richins say it’s not right to hold Kouri in jail for two years, while she’s presumed innocent. Richins attorneys argue that while in custody, Richins has proven she’s not a danger to the community. They want 3rd District Judge Richard Mrazik to consider developments from the past year & a half. Summit County prosecutors have charged Richins with aggravated & attempted murder, drug distribution & financial crimes. If convicted, she could spend the rest of her life in prison. Mrazik previously ruled that Richins was a flight risk or a danger to the community in part because, at the time, she was facing the death penalty. Her attorneys also say new evidence presented during August’s preliminary hearing should factor into his decision. Mrazik will consider the new information at a hearing 11/12/24, where he could set bail. If released, Richins proposes living with her brother & sister-and-law in Salt Lake County & participating in court-supervised visits with the children.
11/8/24 Update: Prosecutors filed a motion on Friday to dismiss two drug charges against Richins. Filing asked the court to dismiss the charges without prejudice, meaning prosecutors would like to have the option to file charges against her again. The motion comes before a hearing Tuesday morning where attorneys are expected to debate multiple other motions — including requests from Richins' attorneys to split the charges into separate trials, to have 12 rather than eight jurors & to reconsider whether she can be released on bail.

2 counts of 2nd degree mortgage fraud (Iron Bridge Financial & Boomerrang Finance)
Snipped for focus

It would be just like Kouri to mis-spell boomerang. And who, with any sense, takes out a loan from a money lending outfit called Boomerang? Your deal will come back to hit you in your head, and may kill you?
Come to think of it, Kouri shoulda just blamed a boomerang loan shark for the murder. She'd be on the hook for her killer borrowing practices, and perhaps not making a killing on her properties and thus splotching red ink hither and yon, but not the real actual killing thing with red blood (so to speak). Am I right?

Darn it! I was hoping to hang the spelling error on Kouri! And I was eager to run with the whole idea.

  • A Utah judge denied bail Tuesday for Kamas mother Kouri Richins, who is charged with aggravated murder in her husband's death.
  • The judge ruled there should be a separate trial for her mortgage fraud charges, but not for her attempted murder charge.
  • He also ruled on other motions as attorneys prepare for a jury trial planned for next April.
