Expert consultant says there was evidence that ML was scalped, which is an “extremely rare method of torture”. I was aware LE found scalp material in AA’s backyard, but just assumed it was part of the desecration/ cover-up. I’m hoping the expert was speculating & not savvy to new info. Horrific.

If scalping occurred before death, I can only recall one other case with that element: Iana Kasian/Blake Leibel. I really pray this was a post-mortem thing.

10/7/19 Update: The judge scheduled a two-day preliminary hearing for March 11 – 12, 2020. Evidence will be presented at the preliminary hearing to see if the case will advance to trial.
3/2/20 Update: Preliminary hearing 3/11 has been postponed. Rescheduled for 4/27. But was rescheduled again for 3/9 & 3/11. 3/9/20: Waived his right to a speedy trial. Ajayi will appear in court again on Wednesday 3/11 at 9 a.m.

He seems like a hustler- the book, modeling, airb&b, dating apps, working the college & military systems. Can’t imagine he’ll break that pattern for the justice system- jmo.

You're probably right. But they have so many things he is charged with, and look how chunky he is now.

SALT LAKE CITY — Defense lawyers for the man charged in the death of University of Utah student Mackenzie Lueck are sorting through new information roughly a year after the 23-year-old Lueck went missing.

Attorney Neal Hamilton said Monday in Salt Lake City’s 3rd District Court that his office recently received a batch of evidence in the murder case for 32-year-old Ayoola Adisa Ajayi.

Ajayi has not yet entered a plea to aggravated murder, a capital offense and first-degree felony.

During the brief hearing Monday, 3rd District Judge Vernice Trease set another scheduling date for June 29. She similarly postponed a hearing in the case last month after prosecutors said they continued to sift through evidence.

The initial date of article was July 15, 2019. I believe the July 29, 2020 court date to be accurate. Although this article does reflect it was updated Apr 22, 2020, I don't believe the content or news video is from 2020. For example, we know that there were no spectators in the courtroom due to the virus and the defendant also appeared by video.

It was more so the early morning hours of this past morning(Wednesday) that was the anniversary. Still breaks my heart. With the advent of social media....and only being a few years older. MacKenzie seems like someone I would have been friends with(a lot of similar music interests and other things). 1 year later.....all I can say is RIP. And hopefully we all can see justice for her in this case soon.

Now we have secret doors disguised as bookcases? Man, everything I read about this case convinces me more and more that AA really did intend to turn this house into a dungeon of horrors for himself and his renters to enjoy. This is the sort of thing that pops up in tv shows and movie scripts, but here's an example of a guy actually trying to do it. And who knows how much longer he might've gotten away with it, too, if he hadn't messed up and killed ML (which I don't believe he wanted to do that night when he abducted her--I think she was more valuable to him alive than dead). Poor ML really did just run across a monster.

I mean, I like figuring out creative ways to make use of space, too, but I get the feeling that AA wasn't planning on using these little nooks and crannies to store his old tax returns, for example.

Whatever he planned to do there, I think he'd end up filming and selling it as well. MOO.
