GUILTY UT - MacKenzie "Kenzie" Lueck, 23, Salt Lake City, 17 June 2019 *ARREST* #20

Also, I'm beginning to think that he tasered her as soon as she got in the car or otherwise incapacitated her. Otherwise, why would she turn off her phone a minute after meeting him? My son said he could think of no scenario where he would be asking a girl for her phone or to turn off her phone (especially at 3 AM in a deserted park). He said every girl he knew would just say no. Also, under what pretense did he convince her to take a Lyft to a park that's farther from the airport than his house? He could have lied and told her the park was a half-way point to his house. Otherwise, why would she agree to that? Wouldn't she just say she'd take the Lyft to his house? I mean, we know why HE didn't want that, but what reason did he give her not to take the Lyft directly to his house but to a park instead? Did she have no intention of going to his house at all? Seems too much of a coincidence that her phone went silent the minute after she gets in his car. Maybe the police got all this out of him during his confession. I would imagine they did. Guess I'll have to wait for the book - where's Ann Rule when you need her?
Mackenzie never had a chance. AA had already decided he was going to kill her before she ever got inside his vehicle.

If I recall correctly, it may have been ML that chose the location for them to meet as she reportedly had used this park (Hatch Park) before for meet-ups. This was discussed extensively earlier during the investigation.

AA will never see freedom again and that's the best we could hope for. Hope ML's family is surrounded by love and support. Such a horrific tragedy.

ITB, Makenzie.

ML reportedly texted AA, and a minute later she turned her phone off and it was never turned on again. I don't think we know if she was in his car when her phone turned off. AA turned off his phone when they arrived at his house.

Ayoola Ajayi pleads guilty to killing University of Utah student MacKenzie Lueck

Neal said Wednesday that Ajayi and Lueck first met in 2018 on the dating website. They had chatted and decided to meet at the park, Neal said, without specifying whether that was the first time they had seen each other in person.

Lueck’s phone was turned off at the park after she texted Ajayi. His phone, which investigators later tracked to the park at that time, was turned off when he arrived back at his home in Salt Lake City.

But why meet up at the park at all? His house was closer to the airport than Hatch Park. Why not just take a Lyft to his house from the airport? What did he tell her to convince her to meet somewhere other than his house? That's why I thought maybe she never had any intention of going to his house. They were supposed to meet at the park, do whatever there, and he'd drive her home or she'd take another Lyft home. Again, that's why I think he incapacitated her in the car immediately - turned off her phone and drove her to his house where she never had any intention of going.

I don’t think we’ll ever make sense of what ML was thinking, her logic, rationale, plan. We don’t have access to her electronic communications, nor will we hear about them, because AA’s guilty plea will take him straight to sentencing. So unless she left clues, and her family feels to make them public one day, we’ll never know. I do feel she probably convinced herself she was in control of the situation, and the men she met. Imo, the SBSD lifestyle “sells” that myth to the degree ML herself promoted it to other young women. It’s horrific what happened to ML that night. I hope her family is surrounded by kindness & healing.

There's no logic here. It's a fact that ML was involved in risky behavior and hope others are using a buddy system today after knowledge of what happened to ML. We will never know what ML's intentions were. MOO

I believe this perp was well on his way to becoming a serial killer. I'm sorry the DP is off the table, but I find some comfort in knowing he will never be free again.

Perhaps once sentencing is finalized, the Lueck family can begin to try and move forward with their lives.

If I was her mother, hearing him say he's sorry for what he did, like he accidentally stepped on her shoe would've sent me over the edge. God bless the Lueck family, they are far braver than I could ever be.

The man who admitted earlier this month that he killed of 23-year-old University of Utah student Mackenzie Lueck was sentenced Friday to life in prison without the possibility of parole, KSL reported.
