Man pleads guilty to second-degree murder in Roanoke woman's death

Lamarre Maurice Camper, 50, pleaded guilty to an amended count of the second-degree murder of Brittany Adair Kasey Freeny. He was originally indicted in June on one count of first-degree murder in the Roanoke woman’s death.

Through an arrangement struck with prosecutors, he received a 20 year prison sentence. He will also carry 20 years in suspended time.

After the hearing, Freeny’s parents declined to comment on the case other than to say they felt “justice has been served.”
