Bear in mind that pentagrams don't always mean Satanic... many modern nature-based/pagan religions use it as their symbol, like the Wiccans. Going to a graveyard on Halloween (or Samhain) would not be too far outside the realm, as it's when the veil is thinnest between the worlds (according to the tradition) for reaching out to the dead. I can see that being something one might want to do on one's own for personal reflection.

Anyway, I have had some luck in the past finding weather for specific locations at specific times. I'll see what I can find.

I was thinking more along the lines of paganism, Wicca, or a general interest in what is generally called "the occult."

I never thought of that... that no car was found.. May be she got there by bus or a taxi?
No bus service in this area, the city closest didnt even get bus service until 1996 and was only local city service only. I believe even now the closest a bus will drop to this location is Garrisonville Va which is in Stafford but about 7 miles the location this UID was found.
Link for bus service date.

A cab is possible I suppose. I wouldnt understand why she would leave herself stuck as no one had cell phones in 1998 and pagers had even died out.
Unless she intended not to need a ride out of there.

I think we have posted some good matches so far. I will put them all on one post and let's relook at each and maybe one of us can submit the ones we agree fits best with this UID.

She could have had a friend drop her off -- maybe she was planning to meet somebody who didn't show up. Or maybe she didn't intend to leave, as you point out.

Though at this point I think it's most likely that the person(s) who drove her there is responsible for her death.

This article has a far better picture of the reconstruction if you go to the third image (couldn't manage a direct link). The distance between her nose and upper lip really stands out to me.

I'm getting better at playing with images - thought seeing both together might help. From that same article:

http://www.staffordcountysun.com/news/article_b4f6e014-8933-51af-a5da-5ecdb93dc8a4.html

The cemetery’s self-appointed caretaker, a Widewater native named Russell Lewis, was hunting about 400 feet from the pond on Nov. 7, 1998, when he came across a skeleton. The bones, covered by fall leaves, belonged to a woman. She was estimated to be between 28 and 45 years old, with brown hair in braids.

The medical examiner’s office could not determine how she died, but forensic scientists said she’d been in the woods for at least a year.

“Her clothes had not been removed, there was nothing remarkable about the skeletal remains,” said Capt. William Bowler of the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. “She was found almost 400 feet from the pond, near the road that goes back to the cemetery.”

I wish there was a back or side view of that reconstruction. It looks to me like they might mean that her hair was in a single braid down her back, not in "braids."

Something about her face shape caught my attention - but after rotating Susan's pic & doing a side by side comparison, not positive that the brow bone or nose-lip distance looks right...

http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/Files/Law-Enforcement/Investigator/Ohio-Missing-Persons/Cold-Case-Missing-Adults/Cummings

Missing since 7/18/1996, Height = 5' 8" ... Susan was last seen in the vicinity of the 2200 block of Hickory Street in Toledo, Ohio. Susan was evicted from her residence shortly before she disappeared. She has not contacted family and friends since that time. She has a surgical scar on her chest. Her teeth were in poor condition at the time of her disappearance. BBM

I wonder how bad her teeth were?

Our Jane Doe's skeleton was found Nov 7, 1998 ...

Margaret M. Tighe went missing Nov 24, 1998 - so I took the liberty of crossing her off the list (hope that's ok)

New York missing has the 1998 date: http://newyorkstatemissingpersons.n...y-ny?context=album&albumId=2551950:Album:2388

As does Charley Project: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/m/moss_janice.html]

I suspect the Namus date must be a transposition error.

I agree - the Namus date seems incorrect and The Doe Network has the age incorrect (wow, if you have a missing loved one you better check the details carefully - it could make a big difference).

http://www.nampn.org/cases/moss_janice.html ...
North American Missing Persons Network also has the date missing as Oct 10, 1989 but the pictures on that same page say Moss, circa 1998 (source info listed as NAMUS) ... either way, I don't see Janice Moss being a match (if she was last seen April 20, 1998 - not sure she would become a leaf covered skeleton within 6 1/2 months, plus that she's AA with black hair) ... jmo

P.S. Sorry to barge into this thread with all these posts - I'm supposed to be working on finances and/or housework so Websleuths is helping me procrastinate:)

Maybe I'm wrong about how quickly a person can decompose to a skeleton ... did a little quick research:

http://www.wunderground.com/news/flesh-bone-what-role-weather-plays-body-decomposition-20131031

Wescott does his work with human remains in central Texas, where temperatures can average in the 90s during the summer months. In the intense sun, the bodies “mummify pretty quickly, within about three months,” he said. “Then it takes a long time for them to decay past that. In shaded areas, after three to four months, they become a skeleton.” In general — though not always — he’s found that bodies decompose faster in hotter, more humid climes than in colder, drier spots.

I would think when they found the body they could tell if the skeletal remains had only the current year's leaves covering it or both the current year and the previous year's leaves (it's pretty easy to tell which year's layer of leaves you are working with - speaking from gardening experience only, not skeleton digging) ... of course, animal disturbance to be factored in also ... so, long story short, I guess when they say over 8 months prior for estimated date of death, there's a good reason for that.

Just about to post & I see Tssiemer's comments - thanks!!!

Thanks, good information.

I would guess Halloween of 1997, personally...

Unless she intended not to need a ride out of there.

I know a lot of people that had cell phones in 1998 including me.

My mom, aunt and sister as well. I didn't get one until I started marching band in 1999 lol.

That must be about when I got mine, too. I had a long commute and the kids worried about me when I got stuck in traffic, so I got the phone so I could call and let them know everything was okay. I didn't get reception any time I went into a valley.

I wasn't the first person in my group to have one, but lots of people didn't.
