Ariel Garcia is a 4-year-old Hispanic boy with brown hair and brown eyes. There is no description of what he was wearing.

He was last seen around 7 a.m. Wednesday in an apartment in the 4800 block of Vesper Drive. Everett police cruisers were seen outside the apartment building and there is crime scene tape in the courtyard. Officers were inside a unit processing evidence. They have since left.

Everett Police officers and search and rescue teams are looking for the child, who may be missing under suspicious circumstances after leaving the apartment with a family member.

Police say he may be in danger. Officers have been communicating with his mother and family.
They way I read it from this article it sounded like mom/family are cooperating but maybe a different family member has Ariel? The article you posted sounds like the mother was missing as well? Not sure what is what, it could just be the wording. IMO

I read it to mean Ariel and his mom disappeared, but mom has since reappeared. Ariel is still missing. JMO

Though the Snohomish County Medical Examiner is working to verify the identity and determine a cause and manner of death, police said it is being investigated as a murder case. What’s more, a car of interest in the case was previously taken into police custody.

An employee at a bar here said police pulled up outside Wednesday night and asked about a car parked in the parking lot.

“We just knew when the police arrived yesterday at around 7 p.m., and there was a car parked in our lot, and wanted to know when it arrived. So we pulled up the cameras, and found that it came about 3:40 in the afternoon,” said Colleen Macaulay, who works at the 3Peaks Taphouse in Ridgefield. “They just knew that they were looking for a child that was missing.”

That bar in Ridgefield is about 3 hours away from where Ariel was last seen, in Everett. What a sad story. I hope authorities quickly find whoever was responsible.

On Monday, Ariel Garcia’s grandmother filed for emergency guardianship, arguing his mother’s drug and alcohol abuse made her “leave for days, at a time, without notice,” according to court papers. She also called the mother’s behavior “very violent and unpredictable.” The grandmother wrote she was able to “step in” when this would happen.

The grandmother, 60, filed for emergency guardianship for both Ariel Garcia and his older brother, 7. She wrote in court papers that the mother and kids lived in Washington until November 2019, then lived in California for a few months before moving back.

“Ariel being so young needs someone to look after him, and his mom is not able to give him the care he needs,” the grandmother wrote. “He becomes scared of her condition and does not want to be around her anymore. I can give him a normal life.”
