His youtube channel

5150 is a police code
Are there any other meanings for this number?

(Not sure if anyone responded to this, still catching up with the thread - 5150 is the name of Eddie Van Halen's studio, plus a Van Halen album, that was named after a California Code for putting someone in involuntary psychiatric hold. Could be either of those things, or something totally different, but I'm leaning towards the recording studio one because of the Steely Dan prefix!)

Gabriel Davies and Justin Yoon pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Pierce County Superior Court. Charging papers alleged they broke into an Orting home in the middle of the night in August 2022 clad in dark clothing, stole firearms and knives and killed Daniel McCaw. McCaw was left dead in his laundry room for days, only to be discovered by law enforcement after he didn’t show up for work. The teens have remained in custody on $1 million bail since they were arrested last year and charged as adults. After their guilty pleas were entered Wednesday morning, Judge Thomas Quinlan ordered them held without bail until sentencing, set for Nov. 3. With no prior criminal history, the teens face a sentencing range of 10 years, three months to 18 years, four months in prison.

Prosecutors will recommend Davies be sentenced to the low end of the standard range, though Quinlan noted he can impose a different sentence. The maximum term Davies and Yoon could see is life in prison.

Davies and Yoon, also 17, said little during the hearing beyond answering Quinlan’s standard questions about whether they understood what they were pleading guilty to and that they were making their pleas freely. Both appeared unrestrained in blue clothes from Remann Hall, the county’s juvenile detention center where they’ve been held.

[..]

McCaw’s mother also declined to comment on the outcome of the case. She and other relatives of the 51-year-old man attended the hearing, along with family and friends of the defendants.

[..]

A motive for the murder is not outlined in case filings, but court records in a long-running family law case showed Davies’ mother, Amanda Olufson, moved in with McCaw in 2018. Davies’ father, Kenneth, who filed to divorce Amanda in 2009, disapproved of the move and raised concerns about McCaw. He said the man displayed volatile behavior and threatened a person his daughter had been dating.

Who FORCED This Teen To Fake His Own Kidnapping?

Aug 1, 2023 #sherripapini #TrueCrime #Mystery

Carlee Russel captured the nation's attention on July 13, 2023 after she was reported missing and possibly abducted in Hoover Alabama. Just like Sherri Papini several years before her, Carlee staged her own kidnapping for reasons we may never understand. In the Summer of 2022, 16 year old Gabe Davies would join the ranks of false kidnapping perpetrators in an attempt to avoid serious charges on an unrelated crime. In this gripping true crime story in collaboration with @WesMoast, we delve into the unsettling events that shook the serene city of Olympia, Washington. It all began with the disappearance of high school football star, Gabe Davies. What should have been a routine trip to practice turned into every parent's worst nightmare when he vanished without a trace. As law enforcement and volunteers scrambled to find Gabe, the city of Olympia was rocked once more by a gruesome murder that had taken place just days before Gabe's miraculous reappearance. Join us on this riveting journey of twists and turns as we uncover the truth behind the disappearance and the tangled web of lies and deceit that surround this tragic and complex story.

I found this bit by the prosecutor today somewhat odd and wondered if this was because Yoon really was the killer as Davies alleged. But in WA, that really wouldn't have mattered.

Dug a bit deeper and seems Yoon was a troubled teen with some prior juvenile issues. Seems he also had several social accounts displaying weapons, etc., that have since been scrubbed from the internet by his attorney. MOO

We know from the court docs that Davies had no priors, and a criminal score of -0-.

ETA: I only purchased Davies's plea docs from the Court. Perhaps Yoon's will be published in the media before sentencing.

I found it odd too because Davies was the one who knew the victim, right?

Yes, Davies's mother was the victim's former fiancee.

At one time, Davies, his sister, and his mother resided with the victim in his house until the father was granted custody of his children.

Davies would have known the lay of the property, the safe location, and where to find the guns and knives that were taken from the residence. JMO

Right so it seems like Yoon wouldn’t have had motive… and there was talk earlier that there was help from some adults in the know… maybe because Yoon had previous issues but he’s a juvenile?

They were both 16 when they murdered Mr. McCaw (17 yrs old now). I don't think they had help -- the victim was intoxicated and they shot and stabbed him and left him on the floor in his laundry room (where he entered). I think Davies planned everything and Yoon was just a good soldier.

I think so too so why would he get less time?

As 16 yr old, the standard range penalty for the offense of second-degree murder is 123-220 months.

If you look at the Plea Agreement document for Davies quoted below, sections IV Criminal History, and V Offender Score, the compilation of the results appears to impact the offender score which influences whether the offender is recommended to serve at the lower end of the range or 123 months, or serve a sentence at the higher end of the range.

Since I didn't purchase Yoon's plea agreement (14 pgs), I can't tell you exactly what his score is but we know that Davies 'Offender Score' is -0-. I think this is why he's being recommended for the lower end of the standard range.

Thank you so much for the response! And yes we only know Davies’ not Yoon’s - that was my mistake. Sorry.

I'm not sure there is any difference in what sentence is being asked for each defendant. The article was focused on the local kid Davies, so pointed out what they wanted and what might happen with him. But from other accounts, it sounds like they each are being given the exact same deal. Since they did the same crime(s), why wouldn't they?

The deal is that a) they plead guilty, (b) the DA will make a recommendation to the judge for a sentence of 123 months, within guidelines, and (c) then the judge will decide whatever he thinks is best (which could be outside the DA limits).

The following quote is illuminating, and explains why there is mention of different possibilities.

"Prosecutors will recommend Davies be sentenced to the low end of the standard range, though [Judge] Quinlan noted he can impose a different sentence. The maximum term Davies and Yoon could see is life in prison."

BTW It shocked me to hear these perps are being allowed to skate so lightly on such a cold-blooded killing. Only 10 years for breaking into a man's house, stealing his stuff, and murdering him? Goodness. If he was my family, I would be outraged.
