WA WA - Richard 'Cody' Haynes, 11, Kittitas, 12 Sept 2004

If you can't join the search today, please lift up your thoughts and prayers that those on the ground find Cody, if he's out there!

:praying:

What an adorable little boy he was in 2004!!!

My eldest son is a similar age to Cody. This story breaks my heart. He looked to be such a gorgeous boy, full of fun. How could any parent not love him?

I hope he can finally be found and laid to rest in a dignified way, and I hope those responsible finally get the justice they deserve. His poor sisters too, imagine witnessing that and being unable to do anything about it.

Prayers and positive thoughts for Cody and the searchers.

This story is heartbreaking. As a mother of four children, I cannot imagine not knowing their whereabouts. It is one of my ultimate fears. I am sending positive thoughts and energies to the searchers.

Children are a gift and meant to be protected, nurtured, and loved. I think I was very naive to the harm that can/does come to children at the hands of those meant to love them when I joined this site.

I hope most of all that the family, Cody's loving family and Cody, can find some peace and closure. If something happened to Cody that ended his life - may justice and punishment be brought to those responsible. My heart is heavy but hopeful that something positive will come from this situation. :please:

Glad you got his poster I made for the search. Thank you Moderator! The search today started out hopeful but ended up empty. Another place checked off the list. We will keep searching and we are hopeful that K-9 forensics will be of help to us. They will be here after they wrap up with the Dylan Redwine case. I will let everyone know how that goes. Thank you for all for the support. I have put together a large poster of the missing children in Washington State. You can get updates of this photo at a Facebook page my sister and I run. Beautifully written and mirrors my thoughts exactly. Many failed this angel and I hope they are held responsible. This should just not happen, EVER. I'm sadder than sad but madder than mad for this child.

Don't think this website has been posted yet:

Mods, I'm new to WS so please let me know if I'm not allowed to link this. For some reason this little guy has gotten into my head and every time I log in,his precious face just breaks my heart. Someone knows something, obviously, it must be very difficult to carry it around for so many years - it must be a very heavy burden.

Maybe, if you're reading, you can release that burden and let Cody come home to those who love him? Please...

The Kittitas County prosecutor’s office says initial reports indicate bones found Monday during a private search for a missing Kittitas boy appear to be animal remains.

A private investigation firm from California working with Haynes’ mother said in a Facebook post Monday that the bones were believed to be human remains.

Kittitas County prosecutor Greg Zempel says the sheriff’s office told him Monday night that the remains would be sent to an anthropologist for review, but they appear to belong to an animnal.

The searcher is Wendy Kessinger of K-9 Forensics, the same one who claimed her dogs found "human flesh" and blood in the Tammy Salle landfill search. Police testing revealed the "flesh" wasn't flesh, and wasn't human, and the blood wasn't human. Tammy's remains were found some time later a distance away in a river.
