This lady, Jessie M. Tanner, is quite a bit older (67) but disappeared from a Spokane rest home around June 14, 1954. Police think she went into the river. I don’t believe she’s ever been found.

It's certainly possible - I don't know how much stock I'd put into age determinations back then.
