Buildings cleared, FBI investigating country-wide bomb threats

Detroit — Authorities are investigating a threatening email chain sent to buildings in Metro Detroit and across the country Thursday, Michigan State Police said.

"Organizations nationwide, both public and private, have reported receiving emailed bomb threats today," said Shannon Banner, Michigan State Police spokeswoman. "They are not targeted toward any one specific sector."...

Insanity imo - where else other than the US does this type of crime happen? And why?

Wave of bomb threats emailed across US, but none credible
"MILWAUKEE/LOS ANGELES: A rash of bomb threats were circulated via email on Thursday targeting dozens of businesses and public buildings across the United States, but the credibility of those threats could not immediately be ascertained, law enforcement officials said."
"Among the cities where bomb threats were reported by authorities on official Twitter accounts were New York, Detroit, San Francisco, Oklahoma City, Denver and Raleigh, North Carolina."

"Police in Madison, Wisconsin, tweeted an image taken of one email threat found to be circulating that said in part: "Good day. There is an explosive device (lead azide) in the building where your company is conducted. It is assembled according to my guide. It is compact and it is covered up very carefully. It can not damage the structure of the building, but in case of its explosion you will get many wounded people."

That email does not sound like natural English to me, rather someone who has been taught English.

Unfortunately, there is no where in the world anywhere that is immune from this type of stupidity. No country is safe from robo-email threats.
As Jennifer17 suggested, the email's wording does read as a person who's native language is not English.

Unsure if this is connected to the threats experienced in the US, just in the news now..
Police forces around GTA responding to ‘multiple’ bomb threats
"Toronto police say they are investigating multiple bomb threats throughout the city on Thursday."

"On Thursday, the RCMP said bomb threats were sent to car dealerships in Penticton, Vernon and Kamloops in B.C. via email. The unknown sender demanded bitcoin payments.

It is unclear if any of the events are connected at this time.

    More to come."

Authorities: Bomb threats across U.S. appear to be hoax
"NEW YORK - Authorities say bomb threats sent Thursday to dozens of schools, government buildings and other locations across the U.S. appear to be a hoax.
Law enforcement agencies across the country dismissed the threats, which they said were meant to cause disruption and compel recipients into sending money and are not considered credible."
Service resumes on TTC following bomb threat - CityNews Toronto
"There have been bomb threats in multiple cities including Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary, Winnipeg and several in the U.S. They have all been deemed a hoax."
Police investigating ‘multiple’ bomb threats to locations across the city
"Hopkinson said locations around the city began receiving calls describing a bomb threat at 11 a.m. this morning.

He wouldn’t specify what areas were targeted.

“There have been a number of them in the downtown core,” Hopkinson said.

He later said as more than 10 phone call bomb threats have been received and one of them was to a major hospital in the city.

Police are not specifying the exact locations threatened until evacuations are ordered in relation to them."

I agree Jennifer. It sounds like one of those Nigerian letters or emails that get sent, saying you have money coming, but first must send money. That is also the first thing I thought of. Thanks, Katt
