Initially a cash-only bail was set for JR, but then it was agreed that property could be used as collateral. There was "something" about this property... I can't remember exactly... maybe the JB family owned property nearby or maybe... just something about it seems to still be roaming around in my brain. Sorry, I'm rambling. We had discussed Lace Party Girls but, IIRC, never the above agency. I can't tell from this article if the charges were in NYC or NJ. It said Hudson County.

NJ Court Records site is down but the one time I checked for any previous arrest for SG, it showed only a "Shannon" Gilbert and that is a male who was slightly older than Shannan Gilbert.

Hudson County is New Jersey (northeast NJ just across the river from NYC).

Really good sleuthing, i didnt know about this. But since he plead guilty by this point we can say it doesnt logically follow that he would have conspired to kill a witness. Also, facing 7, he will prolly do 3ish and probably has bundles buried in jersey somewhere. Anyone want to tail this guy when hes released so we can find out where it's stashed? Lol. Conspiracy to murder doesnt make much sense when you are talking about 3 to 5 years...
What a creeper though, doesn't anyone smile for mugshots anymore? I wonder if the khebabs were any good....

I have always maintained that it is very possible that these are all victims of a "fixer" or a mobster crew who specialize in the disposal of employees who are "liabilities".

Just remember the infamous words written about ALC; "I have friends who can take care of this @%^$".

Ive always believed this to be a very good possibility as well.

Nothing around here gets done unless someone gets a 'campaign donation', politicians come in office with a list of 'favors' an 'debts to be repaid' a mile long.

When you google this JR guy you find him listed as the owner of a number of businesses, particularly escort businesses that have come and gone over the years including one named Lace Escorts, aka Lacepartygirls, which was closed in 2008 and was the name of the company Shannan gave as her place of employment when she was arrested in July 2007 on a prostitution charge at a northern NJ hotel. It was through Lace Party Girls that she met Alex Diaz, a driver for the agency. (at least that is their story). MP claims he and Shannan started working on their own after this, but this new information according to Hoboken arrest records is she has a standing indictment in Hudson County as a co-defendant with this guy working under the name First Professional Referral Services. This may mean Shannan, Alex Diaz and MP were all connected with and still working for Ruiz when he got busted and pleaded guilty to laundering money and running a call girl ring on June 11, 2010, a month after Shannan was murdered. I don't know about the Oak Beach connection but VL has a Hoboken business partner, A.Arezzo who seems to have quite a bad rep. and ?possible? connections to those "families" on Long Island.

Well, he was not sentenced until November 2010 and appears to have been free, on bail or bond, until his guilty conviction/plea in June 2010.

Does anyone else remember in an early interview Mari Gilbert saying she was very suspicious of Alex because he never called Shanan's cell phone looking for her after she disappeared. As if he must have already known he would not reach her. He also gave an interview saying he was afraid of unknown people who he felt were connected to Shannan. This interview was particularly strange because it was listed under a link to Thomasville furniture, believe it or not. Then it disappeared. I did not get a screen shot of the article, but I did make a copy of it. Very strange. It has a caption saying John Munson/The Star-LedgerCharles Hannon, PI, searches for missing Jersey City resident Shannan Gilbert in Oak Beach, Long Island.

Always wanted to mention this to see if anyone would understand what it would mean finding the information on a link to Thomasville Furniture, but the whole thing seemed so crazy I didn't know how or where to mention it.

A Jersey City man who ran a high-price call girl service in the Heights pleaded guilty yesterday to laundering the more than $3 million per year he made pimping out prostitutes and sometimes having drugs delivered to the johns as well, officials said.

Joseph Ruis, 44, of Leonard Street at Summit Avenue, operated World Class Party Girls and faces up to seven years in prison when sentenced on Sept. 17, said Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Devarup Rastogi.

OH STOP IT!!!! Suffolk law enforcement, the courts, and the rest of Suffolk Government is in cahoots with organized crime???? BS. If by in cahoots they hire some firms that are associatted with organized crime; well that is just how business gets done. And it gets done all the time.

Want to really see someone in bed with organized crime? Look at the feds.
One of my old contractors who did work for me is currently indicted under Federal Rico Laws on some BS charges. Guess what he is building right now? THE FREEDOM TOWER, most of ground zero, and recently finished the new Goldman Sachs Tower. So the government is paying him with one hand and indicting him with the other. Look up LaQuila Contractors. Hard working Italian-Americans. I have nothing but good things to say about them; even though the government got jealous of all the money he was making and decided to whip an indictment up. NOBODY in manhattan has the equipment, the know how, or the talent that LaQuila does. Whatever the goverment says about them; they were always good to me and I am proud to be friends with them. I am a loyal guy.

Even though they may be associated with organized crime....they still may be the most equipped and able to get a construction job done. But it still does not stop the feds from trying to arrest them.

Maybe I mixed it up or maybe they changed it, I thought it originally said Alex Diaz thought she was working for someone higher up the food chain.
