Hello!

I have just discovered this section of websleuths and wanted to say hello to everyone but I get started. It's lovely to read the introductions here, what an amazing talented diverse bunch of people! I'm really honoured to join you all.

I've previously worked in various aspects of law enforcement and intelligence services. I've got an undergrad and postgrad degree in Psychology, I chose to specialise in Investigative and Forensic Psychology. I'm currently in working in secure acute inpatient mental health at a local hospital providing theraputic groups and individual theraputic work.

In my personal life i'm obsessed with my three dogs <3

Hi, my name is AlyCatArtist or Aly lol. I joined today and I can't wait to meet some of you! I am a fan of mysteries and while I am currently taking a break, I am studying criminal justice.

Hello everyone!
I've been going by the name Elvee for over a decade online. I am a 50 year old retired truck driver currently living in the high plains. I have two grown daughters and a terrific husband. I am about to become a grandmother in March! I also have 2 dogs. One is a huge derp and the other is a tiny retired truck companion.

There is no specific case driving me to be here. I just... thought perhaps between the transportation experience and my military background along with my OCD tendencies to organize everything in a logical way, I might be able to help someone in some small way. Or, as my husband says, "use those criminal mastermind powers for good".

I'm honored to be here, and I look forward to working with all of you.

Welcome to Ws AlyCatArtist and Elvee, looking forward to each of your posts !!

Hello, I saw this thread and decided I should introduce myself.

My name is Lucas. I'm 26. Born in Peterborough, Ontario, but currently living in Hamilton, Ontario.

Like most of my family, I have an interest in how the criminal mind works, though none of us have any formal education in the subject.

I discovered this website recently, and was at first skeptical, but after doing some research, I can say that I'm very pleased with how genuine you all are, and that you all truly want to help solve these cases.

I noticed how hard everyone here was working to help solve these previously unsolvable cases, and wish to say thank you, to all of you, for all your hard work and dedication.

I don't know how much help I could be here, but if it helps bring some comfort and closure to victims' friends, family, amd others close to them, I'll do what I can.

Welcome to Ws JR!
Do you have any particular cases from Georgia in mind, if there is one that is not listed here, a thread can be started.
In the meantime, this forum includes many cold cases from Georgia..

I didn't realize this thread existed or what it was for until now. I've been here since early 2017 right after my cancer diagnosis (Multiple Myeloma). I was home, bored and web surfing when I came across the Turpin case. I have really enjoyed Websleuths for the online friendships and the professionalism displayed. Everyone is knowledgeable, respectful and kind.

If anyone needs to learn the ropes, here are a few threads I've found helpful, especially when posting sourced information. If you want to be a verified insider, or think a poster may want to be, here is the link for how to do that.

I have multiple established podcasts that cover murders(solved & Unsolved)and Missing Persons cases.
If you are the loved one of a victim, or an investigator on the case, I'd love to have you on my podcast(s) to bring awareness to the case.
Additionally, if you are an author or blogger that has done extensive work on a case, I'd love to hear from you. Feel free to PM me.

I was working on a story about the demolition of a house that was about a mile up the road from where I grew up and wherein occurred a notorious and brutal unsolved murder.

During that time, I recalled that the parents of the victim had been friends with the parents of a friend of mine.

Long story short, I asked him about it and it led to me meeting an amazing group of people, some from law enforcement, some from national politics (circa 1960s-80s) and some who were friends and or neighbors of the central figures in the story.

Along the way, thanks to said people, I stumbled upon a suspect whom I believe not only murdered an extraordinary number of people (some of whom were victims of one of the most infamous killers in US history) but the US justice system has known about it since the day that said suspect's wife gunned him down and has worked to keep it covered up for five decades and counting.

It all started with a simple question, who murdered Valerie?

Hello all, I'm new here. I joined the site a few months ago but was too busy to dig in. I'm a semi-retired TV editor, fledgling writer and bachelor. For the past 10 years I've been running my own private investigation of my dad's 1972 murder cold case. Since 2018, things have really been heating up. I've uncovered some quite startling information and it just keeps coming. I'm currently leaning hard on the San Francisco Police Department and the District Attorney to re-open the case, which they closed under suspicious circumstances. I've still got a lot of loose ends to tie up. After reading "I'll Be Gone In The Dark" by Michelle McNamara, I realized that I could have really used some help before, and for damn sure, I could use some now. Hoping to get some insight and help from the community of sleuths here and maybe share a thing or two that I've learned. Cheers!

Is there a thread on here for your father? You can get set up as a Verified Insider and that would probably be very helpful.

I just signed up today! My name is Scott. I'm an attorney in the North Texas area. I lead a pretty boring existence but if you must know, my interests include music, fitness activities, and football. I got interested in cold cases due to wanting to know more about a double homicide that involved 2 classmates of mine from high school (neither of whom I knew) that occurred during my junior year. The case has still not been solved 40 years later. I've created a case file with everything I can get but the police department handling the investigation has all but dropped it. They either know who did it and do not believe they can prove it, or have no idea who did it and have exhausted every conceivable (in their mind) lead. I have a couple of very obscure (and possibly bogus) leads but have been unable to follow up on them due to other events I'm involved in. After hanging around this forum for a while, I plan to open up a thread on this case and hopefully get some help on this matter.

Welcome to Ws @AngelMartin!
Have not read full article yet, but is it this case?

I didn't know this thread existed! Better late than never! I have been lurking here for many years! I think I signed up last year and just recently started posting. I am Florida, born and raised. I have been watching/reading/researching "true crime" since the early 90s at least. I received my BA in Legal studies and intended to continue to law school, but life had different plans. I ended up with a M.S. in Data, Research and Social Media Analytics. However, before I could find my dream job, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Last year my Dr's advised me to stop working. So now I am stuck at home full time, bored out of my mind, fighting for disability. I am exploring my former hobbies, trying to find something to keep myself occupied. Thanks to everyone who has already been welcoming. I love having this community to share opinions and research with. So many other environments have become so toxic it is demoralizing.

No. As I stated, it is an unsolved double homicide. It also had nothing to do with a school. The victims just happened to be in my HS class -- one was roughly my age while the other was listed in my class due to credits earned but was a year or two older.

I did read that article, however. I have never heard of that case even though I've lived in Texas all my life and am not much younger than the people in that class. I'm a little dismayed that someone who murdered another person, even though he was a juvenile, can practice law when others who've committed a much "milder" felony (for lack of a better way of putting it) are permanently barred. If you are an 18 year old college student who, while drunk, did something really stupid and ran from the cops, you might get tagged with a felony. Though its likely that would be pleaded down to a misdemeanor, but if you had done something else (say, you had a gun or drugs on you), you'll have a felony rap sheet, barring you from practicing law in Texas. This guy kills his 8th grade teacher and gets a pass due to being a few years younger. Sorry, but I'm out on that deal.

Read your initial post too quickly, never mind the link!

My name is Linda Dunn. Screen name Lindun26. This is in response to a cold case from 1978. In 1978, my 16 year old cousin, Karen Whiteside was brutally murdered on her way on Spring break to stay the night with a friend. She never made it. Her body was found on school grounds by a janitor. Autopsy revealed she was 8 weeks pregnant. I have heard nothing in a while. She had been beaten and strangled. Her parents are buried next to her, and never lived to know who did this horrible crime. Her child would have lived to be about 38, and Karen about the age of 54. It still hurts not knowing who and why.
Hi Linda. I’m sorry about the loss of your cousin. Was it ever revealed who the father of her baby was?
