If convicted of his charges, as this State has no death penalty, any idea of what his long term incarceration might look like?
He is only 39 years old.
Would he be put in the general population?

Yes, it would be likely that he would be put in GP at some point - it’s just a matter of what prison he would go to. I’m pretty sure that based off the nature of the offense he would either be sent to Waupun or Boscobel, with the latter being Supermax and the most likely option - that’s where the guy that killed Jeffrey Dahmer is serving out his sentence.

2007 Meth Documentary, Crystal Darkness
DB was featured in this film.
"
He told filmmaker Logan Needham about his struggles with methamphetamines and his failures as a father.
“I thought I would be this wonderful father, the greatest dad ever … I’m going to give him everything that I didn’t have. Then it’s like, reality setting in. You actually become the drug,” Brooks said in the film of his addiction."

"Needham ... recalled Brooks “seemed very genuine” in his desire to turn his life around."
“...But with [Brooks], I felt like he definitely had remorse. And I think he felt bad about the decisions he had made to land him where he was."

^ NY Post Darrell Brooks' long life of crime before Waukesha Christmas parade attack

Based on DB's actions on Sunday, some of us disagree w filmmaker's ^ assessment of DB and his remorse. Disagree quite strongly. my2ct.

Tattoos. Smock.
@Ched :)Thx for post w NY Post link. Except for the image of a cross, I can't quite make out his tattoos. Anyone?
But I do see he's decked out in a safety smock.* I wonder if he showed warning signs of being at risk of self-injury or if the safety smock is standard issue at this jail's intake.

I believe the tattoo on his schoulder says "BSB player".

YOU DON’T DO WELL UNDER PRESSURE,’ SAYS JUDGE

Addressing a sobbing Brooks, the judge at Tuesday’s hearing criticized the “smallish bails” that have been set for previous crimes.

“You don’t do well under pressure,” the judge said.

“You don’t respond well to what is common sense within our community.”

Brooks was out on bail for a different crime when he drove into the Christmas parade.

“Those smallish bails you were out on didn’t do very well,” the judge said.

Parade suspect may face sixth murder charge after eight-year-old boy dies

WISN 12 News reporter Nick Bohr spoke with someone who at one time knew him well — the mother of one of his children.

Long before Brooks became an international villain, he was a boyfriend to a Milwaukee woman, and they had a child.

Now, she wants to see him punished for the carnage in Waukesha.

"He didn't seem like he was in his right mind," she told WISN 12 News reporter Nick Bohr by phone.

She doesn't want to be identified.

"He did a monstrous thing," she said. "Throw him in jail, under the jail, hang him, if they had the death penalty here, I would be for that."

'He did a monstrous thing,' says ex-girlfriend of parade suspect

7 chilling details of parade suspect who 'spoke to self & rapped about murder'

From the article:

He was "always a little off," one neighbor, who didn't want to be identified told The Sun.

"He must've snapped," another neighbor Ebony told The Sun. "The whole thing is messed up but it doesn't surprise me."

They always say something is off about them. I do not think he snapped. Many mass killers think about committed their evil actions.

It is looking more like Darrell Brooks is an injustice collector. Injustice collectors see themselves as victims and are often constant complainer.

Are They an 'Injustice Collector?'

Examples of injustice collectors are wide ranging. They can be Jodi Arias, Lori Drew, Casey Anthony, Yoselyn Ortega, Betty Broderick, Angela Marinucci, Dora Cisneros, Gertrude Baniszewski, Theresa Knorr, Aileen Wuornos, Patrick Purdy, David Berkowitz, Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, Dean Corll, Elliot Rodger, Eric Harris, Nikolas Cruz, James Huberty, Adam Lanza, Campo Elias Delgado, Seung-Hui Cho, Martin Bryant, Omar Mateen, Stephen Paddock, Anders Breivik, and Osama bin Laden.

Another term for injustice collector, grudge hoarder. It is really the same thing as they are at heart extreme narcissists.

Grudge Hoarders and Mass Murder

Personally, I think it's more accurate to call them hoarders than collectors. They fully internalize grievances to the point where they find both solace and an identity in their long lists. They develop a pathological need to control others (like hoarders with objects), and the more grudges they accumulate, the more unforgiving they become and the more insulated they feel from the world’s uncertainties. Their fantasies feature them "winning” against those who’ve done them wrong, shored up with righteous justifications for whatever they decide to do.

Grudge hoarders view perceived affronts as a show of disrespect. Couple this with an attitude of narcissistic entitlement, and you have a simmering pot of resentment, ready to boil over into rage. Getting armed for action is but a short step away.

Agree with you. In my opinion, although many will call him insane, I don't think he is at all.
I also do not think that he is a terrorist.
I do think that this was a hate crime.
It doesn't matter what color your skin is, if you hate people who have a different color of skin then you, and, you purposely kill people with that skin color, then it is a hate crime.
The exact same thing is applicable if you kill people who don't follow or, agree with your particular religious beliefs.
A hate crime. JMOO

Thank Goodness. Thank you for the updates. Thats exactly the news I wanted to hear.

I don't think it means he had never thought before about possibly ramming into a crowd.

We know that he was arrested for ramming his ex-girfriend with his car. He ran her over with his SUV.
So it was not a new idea for him to decide to do it again.

I think he had a lot of repressed anger, since we know he shot at his nephew, ran over his girlfriend and threatened to bomb a casino, and I am sure many other things.

I am pretty sure he had thought about or fantasised about driving through a crowd before he actually decided to make it a reality. JMO

Thing is…. he is a sex offender, domestic abuser, child abandoner. I don’t know for sure what race all of his victims before the parade attack were. But some were probably his own race.

I don’t think he cares about people - at all. He destroys humans. It’s hard to label this creature, let alone charge him appropriately.

He is an annihilator of humanity.

I am a local and can confirm that over half the people he hit were not white. Any racist speculation is just to further an agenda at this point - he is just someone who gets his thrills on unspeakable death and destruction.

I think many of us are speculating because we are searching for a motive. There may be not be a single motive, but coming off of the heels of the Rittenhouse verdict, and based on DB’s social media, it’s not a stretch to consider a hate crime based on race or political agenda. It was an attack on a Christmas parade, the most beloved of Christian holidays. Again, it’s not a stretch to consider religious hatred.

Until the investigation is complete, we won’t have answers. Maybe we will never have more in-depth answers, because there aren’t any. As you noted, his attack was an opportunistic mass thrill kill.
