FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Law enforcement in Wisconsin has released new composite sketches of an unidentified woman found murdered in a Fond du Lac County creek nearly ten years ago in hopes someone will recognize her.
'Jane Doe,' as Fond du Lac County deputies have named her, was discovered by deer hunters in a shallow creek back in November 2008. An initial investigation revealed she was murdered.
This week, with the help of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, authorities released the new sketches of what the woman looked like. She's described as Caucasian, 5'1'', 120 pounds and between the ages of 15 and 21.
Police are hoping someone across the Midwest, or even the country, will be able to recognize the woman depicted in the sketches.
Investigators are also planning to exhume Jane Doe's body later this week for additional forensic testing of her remains.
"We're hoping to get some historical data of either where she grew up or may have traveled to and resided throughout the United States because we're not sure if she's from Wisconsin," said Fond du Lac County Detective Pete Vergos, lead investigator on the case.
Anyone who recognizes 'Jane Doe,' or may have any information on her murder, is encouraged to contact the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office at 920-906-4777.
