In the US, as far as I know, it's against the law to start that type of fire with gas lines around and so forth. We don't burn down structures as far as I know. We have them taken apart and the land is cleanly reclaimed and vacant.

It is a place where death and great harm was inflicted one night, but if we knew the histories and addresses of many homes, we might find out that they once had a violent event ending in murder as well. There are people who will purchase and live in a house where a violent crime occurred and they are aware that it happened. Some people have little to no awareness or personal perception of violence and horror... We are all different.

Time will tell and we may never know what happens to the house. It could stand empty and decay on its own. IDK the legalities, if any, regarding vacant property in that area.

In some areas fire departments will do it for you for training purposes. You can even get a tax write-off as a donation to charity. Of course the IRS has been trying to stop this deduction.

From what’s bizarrely been stated in multiple places... the parents got divorced on 2008, and they moved out, both Deborah and patruck moved out,, The boys stayed behind..... what .....wtf.

The youngest child is 11 and you both move out ... something isn’t being answered.

What was divorce about and who raised jake from 11 to 18....

Again, not blaming parents, but bailing on 11-15 yr old boys doesn’t sound legal : ethical or sane..

Pizza rolls for breakfast/ never clean room and do whatever...

I thought JP's dad lived there until JP went of to the Marines and then he relocated to be closer to his job? Maybe I misunderstood?

I observed the same thing, so I definitely agree with that.

Basic training can expose mental issues, but it doesn’t cause them in the first place.

Thanks for sharing your info... I’m guessing there’s a fitness ramp up... it’s not just 10 mph on treadmill day 1. But after 4 weeks you’d think cardio would be up to speed .. or at minimum 3/4 weeks in it’s clear fitness wise you can make it???

I think any major change in life can result in the beginning of mental health symptoms. Graduating from high school, going off to college, etc. This is one reason why the Personality Disorders are not diagnosed until age 18. A child can show traits for years and the onset doesn't fully present until a major life change is made. Between that and his failure to make it to boot camp, this may have triggered the beginning of more severe symptoms. Imo

Good point. And some Mental health issues don't even start showing until later in life like schizophrenia.

Respectfully, it's the only choice you have if you want to survive. Otherwise why bother with therapy?

If it were as easy as “choosing” to get well, people would not struggle with it. I’m wondering on what planet it’s ok for anyone to suggest that recovery from trauma is a choice, that mental health is simply a choice. It’s not. I wish it was.

I agree with you. JC was shot behind the door. Even if JC had a gun, JP would’ve very likely killed him exactly the same. At that point, it was seconds to him being in the house. I feel like they just had no warning, no time to react other than as they did. Your brain would go into straight panic mode after hearing the first shot. These are things we can never know how we’d react unless placed in the exact same circumstances. It’s completely tragic and emotional, jmo.

Just a note on the comments concerning JC and DC escaping. The way most ranch houses are laid out (especially one that small) there is one small hallway that connects bedrooms & bathroom. You would literally find yourself face to face and bumping into anyone in that area. Regardless, it is what it is and no one knows how they would react in such a situation.

Yeah, it’s incredibly regimented.

First, you have to take a fitness test so you can even go to boot camp. You have to meet a minimum level.

Once you’re there, it’s a slow build up, so even if you’re not entirely ready fitness wise, you will get there.

I think his issues were mental health ones, and not physical. Here’s the thing though, you don’t go from training to being booted out.

You go from training, to a holding platoon, to out.

The fact that he was only there for five weeks, means that he certainly would have spent more time in one of those holding platoons, as opposed to a training one.

I think that he probably only lasted a week or two, before he was dropped from training.

I’ve seen both multiple times ... below is where I saw one of the quotes... it states they were left there... then foster care.. if both parents bail on kids at that age... that’s extremely sad.... especially after divorce...
if you can confirm what really happened let us know ...

Yes, that one can be really late. People can work for years and be really successful and then start having symptoms. It's scary. Imo

Well since I live on this planet...I'd have to say this one. I didn't say your feelings or stress ever go away. I meant how you deal with it is your choice. It is my choice every moment of every day how I deal with my private hell. I do that the best I can. My choice is not to give up and strive to do that. That is simply what I meant.

I agree. I tried to deal with my PTSD on my own for years. I ended up almost successfully committing suicide. I still didn’t go to a PTSD specialist for many years. After I did, it’s been the best thing I’ve ever done. There is no willing trauma away with positivity. That’s a farce. I have full confidence that Jayme will get all and any of the help she needs. It will always be hard, but she can learn to manage it and live happy. Jayme is surrounded by a strong extended family that love her. That support goes a long way towards a positive outcome for her. jmo

This discussion of whether LE should have stopped the red Tauras only works because there was one car that pulled over when they went past. What should the protocol have been if there had been three cars or seven cars. Never mind that if they had stopped the car and spent 10 minutes there they would not have been available as back up to the other first responders at the scene of a crime. They would not have had probable cause to search the trunk and they would have probably been engaged in a shoot out.

I’m keeping my mind open on the foster care issue. As far as I can see, it was only mentioned once, by one neighbor. (And then quoted all over the place.) For all I know, the neighbor got the Patterson family mixed up with someone else.

Have I missed anywhere where “went into foster care” is well documented?
