Perhaps the strong belief that she is alive stems from the fact that she wasnt killed right at the home with her parents? If they wanted her deceased too wouldnt they have just done it at the house and left?

I think LE will continue the investigation in hopes that she is alive until they have a reason to believe otherwise. Jmo
