"There is nothing that has brought us to any conclusion that somebody did this to Kathleen," said Lake County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Sgt. Christopher Covelli. "We don't have any evidence somebody caused this to happen to Kathleen."

Because they don't have evidence, doesn't mean it doesn't exist; it could merely mean they haven't found it (yet). IMO.

Thank you.

Wasnt this said by LE sometime back anyway?

Unfortunately, there are many cases like this one. where LE doesnt have evidence. That's why it takes sometime years or even decades to solve the cases.

The destruction of her vehicle, and to her own remains removes the evidence badly needed to declare it as a homicide.

If it was suicide the children would already know that. Before burial or cremation can occur an official death certificate has to be issued listing the manner, and cause of death.

If it was determined to be a suicide that is exactly what would have been stated clearly on the DC. Her husband would have been issued certified copies. IMO it does not list suicide.

It probably states undetermined, but if they rule it suicide at anytime the DC must be amended. The husband, and children would be advised of any changes, and given the ammended DC.

I do believe the children, and her husband would accept it if it was truly suicide. Imo, they do not, and I think the reason is her death has not been ruled as a suicide.

Imo, the reason she died is still being investigated, and like many other cases, sadly it may take a long time to determine it.

Imo, its no different when LE has come out countless times over the years, when someone goes missing, and say they have NO EVIDENCE the person has met with foul play. Yet later on, even months or years later they say the opposite, and do believe foul play is involved after further investigation.

Official statements seem to be saying: (1) No evidence yet of foul play; and (2) nothing yet to rule out suicide. The condition of the remains is one reason, I'm sure, for the lack of progress in solving this case. I doubt she was car-jacked in WI and driven to the general area in which she had already planned to go, killed there, and then left inside her car. How would the car-jacker get back to WI? I also bet they've ruled out the obvious suspects. No wonder they're completely baffled.

I think they know. But it's a sensitive matter.

Regardless of whether I'm right, this case has opened my eyes a bit more to human suffering and the lengths to which some are driven, to end the pain.

Who said she was carjacked in WI.?

This is no suicide. She was going to a happy event. I'm sure her sons would say it is an insult to say it was suicide.

There is no chance Kathleen committed suicide. She loved her grandbabies. She had just bought gifts for them and was bringing them to the kids at this game.
Her husband and three boys miss her terribly.

It doesn't feel like a suicide to me. It doesn't seem like the way a loving grAndmother would end her life, IF she was going to end her life. A body in burning car is usually indicative of a very angry person, wanting their loved ones to get an angry, vindictive message with their suicide.

I don't see that with this woman, at this point in her life. JMO

Maybe the carjacker didn't want to go back to WI? Maybe they left the car close to their desired destination?

Or maybe someone just really really was desperate to get away from WI. So they took a ride with her, maybe as an acquaintance, or a fake friend, and had to get rid of her at the end of the ride?

You have, I am sure, all of our sympathies; these abide with you no matter the cause of her death.

But there are many questions, and, at Websleuths, we, in order to understand, do ask them.

Do you mind if questions directed to you are asked?

I cannot even imagine the pain of losing someone I love in this manner. I continue to keep Kathleen’s loved ones in my heart and I hope for answers, and justice, for them.

She sounds like she was such a wonderful, loving woman. I can't begin to comprehend the pain you all must feel. I pray that answers will come.

Is it known that she always drove down to these games alone or had she ever taken anyone else along?

Since your sister left early to possibly go shopping for snacks for her grandkids, I hope they check the cameras at all of the store's parking lots along her route. I said in a previous post, myself and others leave their car unlocked while puting a cart away and someone could have gotten in her that way.

Was she a lady who helped others, someone others sought out because she was a good listener? Would she have suggested to someone to ride along so they could talk? Was she known as a comforting shoulder to kids at her school or through her church? Was she involved in any organizations in which she would do that kind of outreach?

This tragic event may remain a mystery.

What isn't a mystery is learning how deeply loved this wonderful woman was and how the tremendous loss of her has impacted her loved ones and the community there.

My heart is with her loved ones during this unfathomable loss.

There is no evidence I've seen that KR was suffering or in pain. No evidence she committed suicide. There is plenty of evidence she was a kindhearted woman enjoying her life to the fullest. If LE thought this was a case of suicide, they certainly would not be expending resources to continue investigating.

What sort of investigation are they doing now? Are they telling the family?

  • #840
They tell the family nothing which is why it's so perplexing.
