Does anyone think Stacy Peterson will ever be found?
First of all, Welcome to the board, LilOne1st!

As far as your question......... While I sincerely hope and pray that Stacy's loved ones will know what happened to her and be able to finally lay her to rest (as sadly she is no longer with us, she didn't run away and leave her loved ones to wonder where she is) I suspect that Drew made certain she will never be found. It pains me to say that........ I wish it weren't so.......

"It's a very high bar to get a new trial," said ABC7 Legal Analyst Gil Sofer.

Drew Peterson is also serving a 40-year sentence for trying, from prison, to have the Will County state's attorney killed.

He is the prime suspect, though he has never been charged, in the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacey Peterson. She has now been missing for 16 years, and her body has never been found.

Norma Peterson, who married to Drew Peterson's brother, believes he is guilty. She now heads a group called Document the Abuse, helping victims of domestic abuse.

"We would like to see justice at some point. Don't know that we will ever get it," she said. "If we can keep one other family from going through this, change one person's outcome so it doesn't get to that extent."

Another former Peterson attorney, Steve Greenberg, said he wished his former client success in court.

Drew Peterson is now represented by a public defender, who asked the judge for a psychological evaluation, a step in the process of asking for a new trial.

"A new trial will be very difficult to get," Sofer said

3/6/24 Update: Peterson did not appear at the Will County Criminal Courthouse Wednesday morning as several hearings got underway. The Will County State’s Attorney’s Office asked for a special prosecutor to handle a case involving Peterson’s former attorney Joel Brodsky, who they said violated a 2022 gag order. The judge accepted the motion to appoint a special prosecutor in the case. The state said the reason for the recusal is that Brodsky may be called as a witness to future post-conviction proceedings. The state believes Brodsky violated the order by speaking to the media & violated his attorney client privilege. Though Brodsky denies the allegations in court, the state wants him held in contempt of court. Brodsky filed a motion to dismiss the petition. Peterson is fighting to get his conviction overturned, saying he did not receive effective counsel & that his former attorney did not allow him to testify. Peterson wants a new trial. Peterson’s team wants doctors to do an evaluation to see if he’s mentally fit & whether his recent national media interview could be used as part of the evaluation. The judge quashed the subpoena request for the footage. The judge said the plan for the next hearing is to go over the evaluation & if deemed necessary, bring Peterson to court. The next court hearing for Peterson & his former attorney is scheduled for 4/1/24.

The former Bolingbrook police sergeant claims his former attorney Joel Brodsky poorly represented him at 2021 trial and did not let him testify on his own behalf.

Peterson, now 70, was convicted of killing his third wife, Kathleen Savio in 2004.

He's also serving time for plotting a murder for hire from prison to kill Will County States Attorney James Glasgow.

He also remains the prime suspect in the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacey Peterson who vanished in 2007. However, he's never been charged in that case.

ABC7 Legal Analyst Gil Sofer said the odds are against Peterson getting a new trial.

"He has nothing to lose," Sofer said. "Won't try everything he can to get out."

Peterson will be represented by public defenders. At a status hearing last month, his attorneys said he recently underwent a mental health evaluation to determine his competency. The results of that evaluation have not been released.
