Found Deceased WV - Kierra Jackson, 14, Reward, last seen at home, Princeton, 3 Dec 2022

......
"On December 22nd WVVA learned that Jackson’s autopsy was completed and that Princeton police were present for that.
However, it could take up to 240 days for the entire report to be released. So far not even a preliminary report has been shared.

On Thursday, we spoke with Princeton police chef Tim Gray who says his department does not have information to release to the public at this time."

240 days is flippin ridiculous and gives the appearance of a coverup. WHY is everything about this case shrouded in secrecy? Is the investigation ongoing or are the powers that be simply waiting for the dust to settle so they can get back to business as usual in this town? Inquiring minds would love to know.

A friend recently died in West Virginia and family was evidently told it would be 6 months to a year to get autopsy results?! So I’m guessing it’s an issue state wide and not just this specific case. Very frustrating as with my friend, we don’t know if foul play was involved or not, and waiting that long to begin an investigation if needed is sickening.

A very interesting article speaking to how backlogged West Virginia's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is. The article is dated December of 2021. Sadly, it explains a lot. Take note, the 240 days is just an average.
.......
“OCME’s goal is always to meet the national standard of completing 90% of cases within 90 days of autopsy. OCME currently has an average of approximately 240 days for case closure.”
In a majority of cases, the physical portion of the autopsy is completed and physical remains released in less than 72 hours, with the exception of unidentified decedents where there is difficulty collecting components for forensic identification.
......
"According to Harrison County Sheriff Robert Matheny, autopsy results are usually available for detectives “within a day or two.” Detectives also can be present during the autopsy to take notes and gather information, he said.
Instead, the backlog is mostly occurring in the report portion of the case, according to Holstein. The reasons for the backlog are many and can vary by case, but include a large caseload, physical plant limitations and workforce shortages. A nationwide shortage of qualified full-time forensic pathologists also has affected the West Virginia office, she said."

If I am correct, they have the results. I dont know why they havent updated on precious Kierra. My daughter was friends with her. I am in contact with a cousin of Kierra. I do know her brother is in a great home. Her sister was there but didnt want to stay. I don't think anyone has been arrested. If they have been her cousin wasn't aware of it.

Almost three months have passed since Kierra Jackson's murder. And yet there has been no arrest....

I'd like to know where the hold up is. Is it LE? Is it a delay waiting for the official Autopsy Report from the West Virginia state Coroner? Is it a delay in the actions of the County's DA?

IMO, the good people of Princeton, WV should be asking questions (and demanding answers) to their elected officials.

RIP Kierra, hopefully justice will be coming soon. You are not forgotten.

Nothing. IMO this has been swept under the rug. If locals don't start making a lot of noise and soon this child's death will never be explained and anyone responsible will walk the earth she was removed from unpunished, to harm again.

Agreed. I've seen social media where the family asks people to let law enforcement do their job, so I'm hoping at least the family insiders are seeing attention and progress with the case. But, still.
There are a lot of families involved in CPS services in Mercer County. How's there not a backlash where DHHR has some explaining to do.

I was looking for something else a couple of months ago and stumbled on a WV .gov site (I don't remember what it was or I would link it) that listed out which counties were on schedule for reporting different things to the WV government. I noticed that the whole state was behind, and maybe about 1\3 of the counties were noted to not have procedures at all. For those counties, I think they were supposed to get the procedures and staff in place first, and then catch up.

Maybe they are bottle necked somewhere and need to hire more of some kind of state certified specialist.

I am sorry, but it is completely unacceptable that we've heard nada on this case. I'm so sorry Keirra :(

Not one word. Not from Officials, not from the coroner, not from her mother who seems more concerned with keeping her man than what he may or may not have had to do with her daughter's death. Not from a soul.

I have officially given up checking for updates. I hope you get justice one day Keirra. It may not be earthly justice but may Roderick one day be held acountable.

FINALLY, indictments announced related to Kierra Jackson's murder!

"Sarah Mullins, Kierra Jackson’s mother, was indicted on October 11, 2023 by the Mercer County Grand Jury for Gross Child Neglect Resulting in Substantial Risk of Death or Serious Bodily Injury and further stated that between July 2022 and December 8, 2022, Sarah Mullins committed the offense of Child Neglect Resulting in Death while a parent, guardian of custodian of Kierra Jackson.

The indictment also names a Roderick Neal also committed the offense of Child Abuse Resulting in Bodily Injury on December 3, 2022. According to the statement, Neal unlawfully, feloniously and intentionally abused Kierra Jackson while acting as a parent, guardian or custodian of Kierra."

Interesting, the charges don't include murder.

Sadly, the reason there were no murder charges was because it was determined Kierra had hung herself.

I can't imagine what a horrific and abusive home she lived in on a daily basis. No wonder she had run away before.

May this precious girl Rest in Peace.
