Arrest warrant issues for Brian Laundrie. The Family Attorney’s Response: family attorney Steven Bertolino responded to the FBI's arrest warrant, telling Fox News, "It is my understanding that the arrest warrant for Brian Laundrie is related to activities occurring after the death of Gabby Petito and not related to her actual demise. The FBI is focusing on locating Brian and when that occurs the specifics of the charges covered under the indictment will be addressed in the proper forum."

Brian Laundrie manhunt: Woman in Wyoming says she picked him up hitchhiking | Fox News
[...]

Norma Jean Jalovec, a seasonal Wyoming resident from Florida, told Fox News Digital on Friday that after seeing Baker's TikTok video, she realized she had also picked up Laundrie on Aug. 29 and dropped him off around 6:30 or 6:40 MST at the Spread Creek dispersed camping area, where Petito's remains were discovered weeks later.

Jalovec said she spontaneously decided to visit a Catholic church called Chapel of the Sacred Heart in Grand Teton National Park that Sunday for its 5 p.m. MST service. The church is about 1.2 miles from Jackson Lake Dam, where Baker said she dropped Laundrie off after he "freaked out" and asked to get out of the couple's Jeep.

Jalovec said she picked him up around 6:15 or 6:20 past the dam near Pacific Creek Landing. He was walking backward and holding out his thumb, like so many do in that area of the National Park, she told Fox News.

[...]

Laundrie, who sat in the passenger seat of Jalovec's 4Runner, asked if she was going to Jackson. When she told him no because she lives in the opposite direction, he asked her if she'd drop him off at the Spread Creek dispersed camping area, which she agreed to, Jalovec said.

[...]

"Everything's legitimate. Everything's corroborated. I already talked to the FBI," Jalovec said, adding that she didn't realize she had given a ride to Laundrie until after she saw Baker's TikTok video and emphasized the important role social media has played in helping to solve this case.

[...]

Jalovec described having the same small talk with Laundrie that Baker reported in her TikTok. He told her that he spent time hiking near Snake River and that he had a fiancé. He told her he had seen elk and moose but no bison, and when she asked him if he needed any gas money, he said no

[...]

The 23-year-old asked Jalovec to drop him off at the gate of the remote campground, which has a single dirt road that extends miles to various camping sites in the area; at 6:30 p.m. MST in August, there would have still been some daylight to see into the camping area. Jalovec responded saying she could drive him inside, which is when he tried to "get out of the moving car," she said.

[...]

Jalovec said she joked with Laundrie about wanting to impress his fiancé by hiking into the campground rather than hitching a ride, but he only responded by insisting that he be let out of the vehicle.

Search for Brian Laundrie nearing an estimated cost of $1 million
The president of a local search and rescue team said the search for Brian Laundrie could have a price tag of $1 million.

North Port Police said 75 people from 16 agencies searched the Carlton Reserve in Sarasota County Thursday. They had officers join the teams for the first time. Thursday marks the fifth day crews were searching in the reserve.

Crews used swamp buggies, drones, helicopters, ATVs, and airboats to search the area. The cost of all the people and machines adds up quickly.

New Witness Reports Giving Hitchhiking Brian Laundrie a Ride

9/23/21

A second woman has come forward to say that she picked up a hitchiking Brian Laundrie on August 29 and that he tried to “get out of the moving car” when she got to the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping area, where he’d asked to be taken.

The first woman, Miranda Baker, posted a series of TikTok videos saying she and her boyfriend picked him up at about 5:30 p.m. on that day but dropped him off a few minutes later when he became unnerved about their destination.

Norma Jean Jalovec told Fox News that she realized after seeing Baker’s videos that she, too, had picked up Laundrie, about 45 minutes after Baker’s reported ride.

August 29 was two days after Laundrie’s girlfriend Gabby Petito was heard from. Her body was found in the Spread Creek camping area on Sunday.

National security expert expects Brian Laundrie’s parents to be 'summoned to the grand jury' momentarily (cnbc.com)
[...]

"I would expect that to happen momentarily, see them in front of a grand jury, and then if they are not going to cooperate, they can get charged with contempt or obstruction," Figliuzzi said. "There is no parental-child privilege, and I actually thought, by now, we would see them summoned to the grand jury. We now have an indictment, it's a federal case."

[...]

A federal grand jury indicted Brian Laundrie following the death of his fiancé Gabby Petito. Laundrie was not indicted for killing Petito, but for unauthorized use of a debit card after she died.

The indictment alleges that Laundrie made unauthorized use of a Capitol One Bank debit card between Aug. 30 and Sept.1 for purchasing items adding up to more than $1,000.

[...]

"If it's her credit card, presumably, that means that authorities are convinced that Gabby was unable to give permission to use her card. That means they are closer to fixing the time of death…that's why you are seeing 'unauthorized use,' she was likely dead at that time," Figliuzzi, an NBC News national security analyst, said.

An attorney for Laundrie’s family emphasized that the warrant was not for Petito’s death but related to activities that took place afterward.

“It is my understanding that the arrest warrant for Brian Laundrie is related to activities occurring after the death of Gabby Petito and not related to her actual demise,” Steve Bertolino said in a statement. “The FBI is focusing on locating Brian and when that occurs the specifics of the charges covered under the indictment will be addressed in the proper forum.”

Brian Laundrie Arrest Warrant Issued as Cops Swarm Florida Preserve Again in Manhunt – NBC 6 South Florida (nbcmiami.com)
Law enforcement officers and specialized dive teams return to a Florida nature preserve for a fourth straight day Friday with renewed urgency in their hunt for Brian Laundrie, Gabby Petito's fiancé who is now officially a wanted man by the FBI.

The federal arrest warrant unveiled a day ago does not implicate Laundrie in the death of Petito, whose case has been ruled a homicide, but it does ensure law enforcement has the power to hold him on some charge -- in this case one involving debit card fraud -- if they ever do find the 23-year-old man, now missing 10 days.

New details about ‘incident’ between Gabby Petito, Brian Laundrie at Wyoming restaurant | WCBD News 2 (counton2.com)
[...]

On Wednesday, a woman named Nina Angelo, of New Orleans, told the network that she and her boyfriend witnessed a “commotion” between Petito and Laundrie as they left the restaurant. Angelo told Fox News that they were in town for a wedding and that they watched a “full blown incident” involving the couple.

Angelo said that Laundrie’s body language seemed “aggressive,” and that she thought he was arguing with the Merry Piglets employees, who she noted were all female, about the bill or about money. She remembered him walking in and out of the restaurant several times.

[...]

“They like left abruptly, and [Petito] was standing on the sidewalk crying and [Laundrie] walked back in and was, like, screaming at the hostess and then walked back out … And then he walked back in, like, four more times to talk to the manager and to, like, tell the hostess off.”

Angelo told ABC it almost appeared like the couple were getting kicked out of the restaurant, and the dispute may not have been between them, but it upset Gabby so much she abruptly left the restaurant crying.

She added that Petito “seemed kind of embarrassed” and appeared to walk back into Merry Piglets at one point to try to get Laundrie to leave. “I think she was being apologetic towards the restaurant staff for his behavior,” Angelo said, adding that she felt for Petito and also remembered being “freaked out” by Laundrie’s actions.
