Circumstances of Disappearance
On Tuesday, September 10, 2019, Barnhill told his live-in girlfriend he was going to run errands. He sent several text messages after leaving the house but never returned. His girlfriend reported him missing on Thursday, September 12, 2019. His truck was located on Casper Mountain off the roadway on Saturday, September 14, 2019. The vehicle was well off the roadway and had clearly been driven through brush to arrive at its location. The area is sparsely populated and surrounded by BLM (Bureau of Land Management) and private property.

Following & hoping for a good outcome but it’s windy right now and cold. Snow forecasted for tomorrow and bitter cold temperatures in the next few days.

I grew up up in this area & learned to ski on Casper Mountain. It’s a beautiful area but not a good place to get “lost”
 
I wonder if his motorcycle was left at home or otherwise accounted for?

Another WY case, Aubree Corona, went missing with a truck with a motorcycle in the bed. Sadly they found her truck in a very remote area along with the motorcycle and eventually found Aubree deceased. It appears she got lost and tried to walk out (her autopsy results still pending though). This case made me think of her case due to the circumstances. When I saw that photo of Jay on a motorcycle it made me wonder if perhaps it could have been in the back of the truck. But they would probably include that info if his motorcycle was also missing. MOO.

There's not much in the media about him - I only found 2 articles. Apparently there is concern about his medical condition, according to the Sheriff's Department investigator.

According to Sheriff’s Department Investigator Taylor Courtney, the vehicle was reported as being suspicious, when reported to officials. The vehicle was located near Sheepherder Hill, in Natrona County.

Since then, the NCSO has been assisting in the search for Barnhill, after the man’s truck was found close to Sheepherder Hill, near Muddy Mountain.

Sheriff’s Office officials say that cadaver K9s were brought in last weekend, but the dogs did not alert on anything during their search. Use of the K9s has since ceased.

A couple of elephants in the room. Normally, if someone is going to "run errands," they would be expected back the same day, not two days later, when the girlfriend reported him missing. Also, if the vehicle had "clearly been driven through brush," it doesn't sound to me like Jay was "lost." JMO and all that.

I hope I'm wrong and he shows up very soon, unscathed, but at the moment, I'm leaning toward self-harm. :-(

Details of Disappearance​

Barnhill was last seen in Mills, Wyoming on September 10, 2019. He told his live-in girlfriend he was going out to run errands. He sent several text messages after leaving the house, but never returned. His girlfriend reported him missing on September 12.

On September 14, Barnhill's truck was found near Sheepherder Hill and Casper Mountain in Natrona County, Wyoming, in a sparsely populated area surrounded by private property and property owned by the Bureau of Land Management. It had been driven through brush and parked well off the roadway. There was no sign of Barnhill at the scene. His case remains unsolved.
