The Canadian military, among other things, is planning airlifts. Google Maps and Images showed that a huge percentage of this town on the tundra live in tightly packed mobile-home communities, which has me thinking that much of the population is seasonal, or itinerant (contract workers on nearby mines, that kind of thing).

The town of Enterprise, which is a couple hundred miles southwest of Yellowknife, was largely destroyed by a wildfire in that region.

Here's a link to other stories; I accessed it last night because I was curious about how they were going to handle hospital patients. In short, they're dealing with things as conditions change.

One week later: I'm not seeing much information about Yellowknife, which has me thinking the people in that area are largely out of danger, at least for now, but Hay River, on the opposite side of the Great Slave Lake, is not.
