Just running a wild thought over in my head and sharing. I'm not saying this is what happened, I'm just throwing what little we know up in the air and seeing how it falls.

If we suspend our notions of what is likely for one moment, and accept that someone other than NB could operate her phone then it becomes only an assumption that she herself clicked on the phone link for the teams meeting (camera and audio off). It is possible to send a text on someone else's phone which appears to be from them if they have access to it. The only witness sightings were from a distance (dogs interacted but did they interact?), then the last physical interaction with NB for definite would be dropping the kids off at the school as the kids and teachers/other parents could not be mistaken. Could it be that it was someone other than NB in the field but dressed up in the same clothes, of the same size, same hair, with local knowledge, who would be able to control the dog as they had walked it before? The bench scene then being staged. Whatever happened to NB having happened immediately after the school drop.

Please do tell me if there are obvious holes in this so that I can put it in the discarded list.

I'm still leaning towards a possible abduction, having abandoned the river as a theory.
Out of all the contacts in NB's phone, would a look-alike have time to scroll through the texting history and find a conversation that related to a playmate, to which they could reply? If that conversation even existed; the idea could have originated with NB.

Moral support.

That was my initial thought that the last face to face encounter NB had was at the school and only the dogs interacted in the field.
These two seem to have dropped out of the news:

"A friend who wishes to stay anonymous, told the Mirror she has spoken to a pair who believe they were the last people to see Nicola before she went missing. She said: "They say she was laughing and joking with them as she went by."

I wonder who this old red Renault transporter type van belongs too… source Elaine willcox ITV PA is driven through the village as reported on Twitter 3 feb 2023 …
The school where NB dropped the kids off is on Hall Lane where the "tatty" red van was spotted by the barn. Was it spotted by multiple people at the same location, or in multiple locations. I can think of a few abduction cases involving "a van you could live in".

Still worth reporting it in my opinion. At least it will be logged by 101 service.
it's been reported multiple times according to The Sun, The Times and according to LancsPolice themselves.

As per Supt Riley when discussing their workload - at the last presser - and how many calls and reports they've had, I personally wouldn't re-report a sighting that's already been reported multiple times. ( If that's what you meant)

I can't find any other reference to the mystery friend who said this nor the two people who had walked past her moments before she vanished. Very odd that this detail has dropped off the known facts, given how crucial that would be.

The morning ring bell looks like nb in my mind but whether a date change could happen or such I have no idea

Isn't that her dog Willow in the back? What makes you discount this as NB?

Just the side view of her face in other images shows different cheek bones & of all her own selfies etc on social media is the only time we’ve seen her with hair ties back, just something not right

Where Nicola Bulley police went wrong, by a top murder detective

If officers can’t prove she drowned they shouldn’t say it, says the man who caught the killer of Nicole Smallman and Bibaa Henry… a top retired Met Detective is critiquing the strategy employed by the police in this case… paywall article: Where Nicola Bulley police went wrong, by a top murder detective

It’s an interesting perspective from someone experienced in assisting families and managing the media.

If I could get one answer to one question- it would be how easily does the dog allow the harness back on? The harness was found between the bench and the river and I have even seen quotes today stating it was down the bank part of the river- any which way it wasn’t on the bench. A dog that is even just slightly giddy when getting it’s harness on can cause you to stumble on uneven floor. We have several dogs- some will sit and wait and others we are leaning over and holding, whilst others get themselves into it as we hold it.
My Jack Russell stands still as a statue while I put her harness on. Takes 10 seconds for us.

In the Channel 5 interview last night Paul Ansell stated he had called NB phone and WhatsApp. He'd received a call from school at 10.45. And then he'd called the police (999) from the car on the way to the river. In the summing up from the show the host laid out the timeline and he stated 10.45 call from school and 11.00 call to Police.

So is this 15 minutes between the school calling PA and him calling police in the car? Does this seem a long time?
I thought the river was 10 mins from their home?
Maybe he had to get his shoes on, find keys, phone his sister in law for advice etc. As he was working from home he might even have been at the computer in his pyjamas/ dressing gown.

I don’t even think the Police have setup a crime room for this, seems really odd , no description of the clothes she was wearing or a drawing of how she may of appeared of even a direct phone number to ring if you have information?

Also the dog harness location is subject to reporting inaccuracy.

If it was found there later and the dog was not tied up then it seems possible the dog may have been agitated and picked up and dropped the harness.

Who are we to say that the dog didn't deliberately drop the harness in the closest location to where he last saw the MP? They are intelligent animals.

When I saw the door bell stills, none of which show NB's face, I immediately thought it was not NB, but her friend. I'm not saying it was but that was my first impression. Perhaps it was because I'd just seen her friend interviewed wearing the same coat that NB was wearing. I'm not reading anything into that as friends can mirror each other in attire.

Is there a school in the village they live in? I wonder if they are attending an out of zone school. If the school they attend is their zoned one I would be surprised if they are not served by school transport. We are based in another part of the UK and we operate school transport to all the rural village schools. Primary School children are entitled to free transport here if they live 2 miles or more from school and Secondary School children are entitled who live 3 miles or more from school. Where we are, if children are attending out of zone schools (so not the school they are supposed to attend in their own catchment area) they are not entitled to transport.

I hope a local isn't responsible, that would be frightening
With the presence of caravan and static lodge parks (including Wyreside and Rowanwater) locally, there's a possibility that someone could have knowledge of the area, know local people, and yet have a main residence elsewhere.
