Who are you, Pipeline Pete? :(

What about Theodore? Seeing his hair and sideburns reminded me of Pipeline Pete. I’m still a little confused by the different stats for Pete though. NamUs has his estimated height at 5’3” to 5’4” and Doe Network has 5’5” to 5’7”. Theodore was about 5’8” or 5’9”, so would that make him too tall?

Clawson, circa 1981

  • Missing Since 07/17/1981
  • Missing From Fremont, California
  • Classification Endangered Missing
  • Sex Male
  • Race White
  • Date of Birth 09/02/1956 (64)
  • Age 24 years old
  • Height and Weight 5'9, 170 pounds
  • Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian male. Brown hair, brown eyes. Clawson has broken several bones. He has a half-inch scar above his eye.
    Details of Disappearance
Clawson was last seen in on July 17, 1981 in Fremont, California. He had traveled there from Sedalia, Missouri in order to visit relatives. He has never been heard from again.

Clawson is missing under suspicious circumstances; foul play is suspected in his disappearance. He may be driving a brown two-door sedan with a gold stripe, a CB antenna mounted on the trunk, a rainbow and a wooden block with "Z-28" carved in it on the read window, and a Masonic emblem on the license plate frame; it had Missouri license plates numbered JLT814. Awesome that he has been identified. Are you related? If so, can you tell us more about Jack?
TIA
Yes. Jack was my dad's youngest brother. He disappeared when I was 3. I didn't know him well, but my mother has always described him as a very smart and caring person. <modsnip: inside info> He was visiting siblings in California and went missing on the way home. His car has not been recovered and cause of death couldn't be determined. There's still a bit of mystery, but It's good to have some amount of closure for the family. His DNA was matched with that of his living brother. That's about all the info I have.

Jack's body has been identified through DNA comparison with a living brother. He was known as Pipeline Pete to the authorities. Thank you all for caring.

Pipeline Pete was identified??? Can't see any articles backing this up. He's still on NamUs.

I'm surprised that Pipeline Pete actually turned out to be a missing person. The height and weight were really off and the recon doesn't really look like Jack Clawson either.

Pipeline Pete was measured at 5'3''-5-4" and 130 lbs; Clawson actually measured 5'9" and was around 170 lbs.

The circumstances didn't seem to match either; I read Clawson's case and I thought he must've drove into a body of water because his car was never found.

I don't think he is Jack Clawson, I think this is a mistake honestly. The relative isn't verified, there's no news on it, neither Clawson or Pipeline Pete have been taken off NamUs.

Though of course an ID for Clawson, if not this UID, could be underway against another set of remains.

OR... as we've seen many times, the recon, estimated heights etc are totally off. Not unheard of.

The stats are off for sure, but that's absolutely not unheard of and he was very decomposed.
