Officer shot and killed perp ... she was following him trying to catch up with him, he turned and raised his knife, she shot him.

They believe there was one perp.

The officer who shot him is a senior police officer (an inspector).

No motive or ideology yet known.

A lone female police inspector who was nearby rushed to Westfield Bondi Junction, Sydney, upon hearing of multiple stabbings. She shot the perpetrator dead. He has murdered 5 people. More are in a serious or critical condition, a police press conference has just heard.

Sounds like many of the staff in the shops were fabulous ... potentially saving lives themselves. They calmly crammed people into storage rooms in the back of their shops, and locked the doors.

  • The offender entered Westfield Bondi Junction at about 3:10pm before leaving shortly after
  • He returned to the shopping centre around 10 minutes later and "engaged with about nine people"
  • A single unit officer inspector who was nearby attended the scene
  • She confronted the offender on level 5 from behind
  • The man turned to her with a knife before the inspector "discharged a firearm"
  • "That person is now deceased," the assistant commissioner said of the interaction aftermath

Good for her. I like that it was a female police officer that shot that evil scum dead.

Awful attack, thoughts to the victims families.
