I agree it would be a dumb move unless you elaborately prepare to make sure you aren't captured or identified. I think the suspect was unprepared for that door nest camera to capture him. Especially if he already believed that he had disconnected it.

Can't tell what the thing that moved is. From some drone arial photo just looks like she has some rocks and the purple lantana plant on that side nearest the walkway, but I can't find a good image taken from the right viewing the entryway to tell. There is a pot to the left of the door on the ground. Also, agree that it looks like something is being held in the right hand of the non-backpack wearer.

So if NG was taken over the border in the days after the abduction, where did they stay during those days in the US? Some sort of temporary housing, motel, airbnb? Doubtful that they sat in a car in the desert for days on end. In Mexico, they could simply ask NG "what meds do you take? And then just go buy them without a prescription." This would favor not spending too much time in the US before the border crossing (if that did happen) to ensure that she got the medications she needs.

I think this is key, too. He's making a scene to be seen. Lantana Man is not putting much effort into getting in to the house or to quickly take out the camera.

I think the moment he thought that door cam was recording him after he reached the front door he knew he had to remove it and that is immediately what he began to do. When he couldn't remove it right away he began looking for something suitable to help him remove it. When he turns away from the door he immediately looks down to the left and doesn't see anything there. Then he goes toward the walkway where he sees the lantana and picks it.

But if there was someone who entered the house from any entrance other than the front door where the camera was, they could open the front door and reach out with their hand and either remove the camera or cover it with something so that it could be removed without being seen on camera at all.

I went through the early PCs recalling the sheriff saying exactly that. Could not find that PC yet. Perhaps someone can chime in on it.
During the PC a journalist had asked how it could be that the bell cam had been disconnected and yet showed movement again minutes later. The sheriff explained the cam may have been taken off the bracket reaching from the inside through the open front door. He replied to the journalist, that the cam (off the bracket now) had been laid down and picked up again later.

I will keep looking for that PC. I was not aware that the cam may still record after taken off the bracket.

Not her DNA. Jury actually accused her of being a surrogate. Enter DNA specialist. Woman had two DNA present in her body. She kept her children.

DNA accused man of murder, but he was 100% in prison at time of murder. He had a twin. Identical twin's DNA did not match his either. Prosecutors had no idea. Dropped charge.

Alaska man needed a bone marrow transplant, but he had atypical DNA. Match found in Germany. Surgery to his arm. Four years later the man had completely become the donor's DNA - completely.

The Lydia Fairchild case (Washington state woman - The Case of Lydia Fairchild and Her Chimerism (2002) | Embryo Project Encyclopedia ) is fascinating to me. In a criminal sense, chimeras (organisms, including some humans that have two different sets of DNA, or the genetic material that contains instructions for the development and functioning of an organism, present in their bodies - What Is Chimerism?) would make it nearly impossible to identify suspects via DNA. It's VERY statistically unlikely that NG's perp has this condition, but it is possible. JMO.

Here’s what I think we know, from the media reporting and official information. It’s all linked and discussed up thread so I’m not including all the links again – just putting the info in one place.

The 1:47 am camera disconnection event mentioned early on in the timeline from the sheriff was said to involve the “doorbell camera”. The report of a disconnection was likely an alert on NG’s iPhone – my speculation, coming from the fact that the timeline was made public too early to have come detailed analysis.

NG had multiple cameras. We know some of them were collected later and there’s still work being done to recover server-side footage, per sheriff’s interviews yesterday.

TMZ claimed to have confirmed that the video footage we see of the perp came from the later 2:12 am event. (Edit: it clearly came from the doorbell camera that was previously said to have disconnected at 1:47 am.)

That footage was recovered from Google’s servers, meaning that the real doorbell camera was online and transmitting perfectly well some time at or after 2:12 am. The doorbell camera itself hasn’t been recovered.

So no answers about what exactly happened at 1:47 am. A temporary Wi-Fi jamming event? Someone inside rebooting the router? Brief loss of broadband from the supplier?

1000 POSTS LATER, people speculating on AI vs real images and 2 perps...I dont think there were 2 perps. As everyone knows by now, I have felt from the beginning this was a kidnapper who had a delusional fascination with SG. She is his fantasy girlfriend .He is a marginalized, socially inadequate, man who has a poetic soul and finds his meaning in life through movies and TV. He is fixated on SG. Probably has an area in his home, like an altar, that has her photo, articles about her etc. He thinks when she is on the TODAY show that every word she speaks is CODE, directed at him. He became restless and decided he must have her but he can't. He went for her mom, instead. NOW HE HAS SG's attention. He also has a trophy..SG's mom. He may also have other trophies he took from the home, family photos, or lingerie from SG's old bedroom, for example.

MOTIVE will solve this case, imo. Obsessed stalker. Someone knows him and his devotion to SG. Watching the Today show daily, saving every program she is on, perhaps mentioning her during casual conversations once too often. This is not a 2 perp crime. This guy acted alone. MOO JMO

The only thing that makes me not vigorously consider this theory is the ransom demand. If obsession - why ask for millions in Bitcoin?
Why not negotiate to meet with Savannah (his obsession) in person etc. ?

I mean this theory could work though if you don't believe the perp sent the first ransom note.
