I am amazed that a trial date is set so fast. Hawaii could teach California, Florida, and many other states that we have seen trials pushed back for YEARS!

But [the victim’s] attorney […] told the judge the restraining order was now unnecessary because Konig was being held without bail during the criminal case against him. The attorney] said his client may refile petition if Konig's custody status changes.

A Maui couple involved in a high-profile attempted murder trial want to keep their divorce case private, but the judge won’t let them.

Their lawyers are also objecting to media coverage, but the judge says cameras will be allowed.

Agreed. The cameras will not be allowed on when discussing the children thought in the divorce hearing.

“Judge Rouse said there is no law saying that divorce proceedings must be private.

He said he won’t allow cameras when they are talking about the Konigs’ children.”

Their poor little kids.

I am just glad their mother is alive, and their psychopath father is not their primary caregiver, as it happens with so many of these stories....where the wife/mom doesn't survive "hike".

A case here in Australia.
Murdered his new wife by pushing her over a 50 metre cliff (164 feet)
Sentenced to a maximum of 33 years.

Will never forget this statement. Ex-husband and I were hiking near a drop to a river when he said, "I could push you off there, and no one would ever know."

The defense wants access to all of the victim's social media.

"On Monday, his lawyer argued for access to his wife's phone and social media records, saying it was necessary to build the defense's case.".

The judge said some would be allowed, but not all. And the defense attorney needs to provide details about why the records are needed.

Fortunately, the trial starts in September. And then, Dr. Koenig can be found guilty, and go directly to prison.

Don't see how he isn't going to be found not guilty. No visitation for the kids if he's in jail. What can there be to talk about re: kids.

Well. Let's just terminate his parental rights completely. After all, he tried to kill their mother.

When Subway Jared's wife sued for divorce, she had his parental rights severed. No right to ever contact or see his children.

From 27 January 2026:
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A heated courtroom exchange erupted on Monday before a judge temporarily sealed evidence against Dr. Gerhardt Konig.

The Maui doctor is accused of trying to kill his then-wife, Arielle, on Oahu’s Pali Lookout trail in March 2025.

Although I think what his first wife has to say is important, I can also see why it's prejudicial.
It's okay. There is plenty of other evidence in this case, IMO.

From 27 January 2026:

This trial snuck up on me. I've been waiting and waiting....

For the defense to say, “I know he’s not, or else he wouldn’t have done it to begin with." First, I detest it when someone says this. 😡

Second. Yes, the Judge blocked the document from public view, but only until a future hearing could be held. That is not a win for the defense.

Glad to hear in February the document did not remain permanently sealed!

If you need help raising your blood pressure, listen to the Defense's opening statement.

It is some of the worst victim blaming I've ever heard.
