Medina-Zelaya was the first of two Kent-Meridian High School students fatally shot in a three-day period in June 2024.

Hazrat Ali Rohani, 17, was shot June 5, 2024 outside a Big 5 Sporting Goods Store in Renton. Aaron Brown Myers, of Newcastle, faces a second-degree murder charge in that case. Myers is on electronic home detention and faces a trial date of Sept. 9, although the trial date has been continued numerous times at the request of attorneys.

TY for this update, making note for myself for later when the projected September trial date approaches

hoping Mr. Brown is still on track for trial September 9th. I look forward to Justice for his victim. Burns my butt he has been walking around a free man since last July. Let's hope he isn't still doing "overwatch" or employed as security with judgement like his.

12/19/2025 10:30 AM Omnibus Calendar - MTHRG CHANGE OF VENUE IN 3G @ 9 AM

I wonder what the ruling ended up being. the docket gives no indication. currently this is calendared for trial on 1/20/26 but I have no doubt it will be yet again delayed. The docket is suspiciously light on entries aside from teh requisite occassional omnibus calendar hearings which appear to be little more than status hearings that shed no light on where we are with this case. No discovery entries, motions entries (aside form teh one I mentioned above, no subpoenas for trial. nothing. Just endless nothing. I fear justice will not be served in this case. Everyone involved appears content to just wait until interest fades completely. I smell an eventual plea :( Meanwhile Myers continues to walk the street out on bond (2 million).

I still want to know who paid that and I want to know what about Myers warranted all those glowing character witness statements from the likes of Newcastle council member Steve Tallman, journalists, attorneys, a consulate and U.S. diplomat and more. This whole situation reeks of coverup to me and I do not like it.

a motions hearing was held on 1/23/26 pertaining to discovery. Trial is currently docketed for 3/16/26 but I imagine there will be plenty more delays as Mr. Myers goes about his life a free man out on bond.

I will need to backread and refresh my memory, do we know anything about this alleged prior 2022 incident referenced in the BBM portion?

Ah, thank you, that's right. I recall discussing that now. Mr. Myers appears to have really been looking hard for quite some time (years) for some opportunity and "reason" to shoot someone. JMO

I can't locate an article that tells the race of the 2022 unarmed bicyclist, but strongly suspect the defendant in this case has a type/profile for those who he considers to be a potential threat. :(

Am I reading correctly?

Tries to get $10,000 bond then doesn't get it but no worry he then posts a 2 million bond?

Do I need my eyes examined?
I have a very fuzzy understanding that some forms of bail perhaps set by the Court, or perhaps contracts with a bondsman, allow money and / or property placed to be leveraged towards a larger amount. As a result, the defendant only needs to come up with a portion the amount.

Perhaps this is an example of leveraged bail conditions?

I personally think his friends in high places, perhaps a few that wrote him glowing character testimonials for the judge, came up with his bond. The question is, why?

I think his attorneys argued to reduce bail to $100,000 but were unsuccessful. His post of the $2 million bond is almost certainly through a bail/bondsman. The bond might be only 10% or something, that can vary. But if he doesn't show, the bondsman is on the hook to the court for the full $2 million.

High profile connections or support from political activist groups are possible. But I don't think this particular defendant has high profile connections, nor is he benefiting from political activists presenting his case (circumstances are just too stupid).

Rather, I am thinking that as @PrairieWind mentioned, arrangements with a bondsman led to a deposit being leveraged.

I don't see him knowing people that would put of $2 million on his behalf. So I am sure this is a surety bond of some sort/ bondsman arrangement. Now, maybe he knows people that put up the 10% (or whatever the court there accepts on bail bond/surety bond). That is still a hefty chunk of change.

Attached in the defense’s motion included 36 character witness statements from Myers’s friends, family, neighbors, and professional and personal relationships. The list of character witnesses for Myers included Newcastle council member Steve Tallman, journalists, attorneys, a consulate and U.S. diplomat and more. “I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand Aaron’s unwavering commitment to public safety and community well-being,” Tallman wrote in his statement to the court.
