It's possible I suppose that at some point she grew suspicious and voiced those suspicions to the police without having any knowledge per se.jmo

Fielke confirmed the boy's grandmother, mother and younger brother had been on the property at the time Gus disappeared

It doesn't mention the other grandparent?

That’s the problem, though - you’re relying on QLD laws. In SA, search warrants were much much harder to obtain before the November 2025 laws passed.

I’m sorry, it’s a huge thread, but when was Gus last seen by his father or anyone besides the mother and the grandparents in person or by video chat (proof of life)? Has this been reported in a news source?

It is bad reporting …. They do mean 3 adults, but as you can listen here to what the Detective Inspector says at 27:18 (in the presser …..) he lists the four persons that were at the home at the time… “Gus’ grandmother, grandparent, the mother, and the younger brother”

Just to clarify …

I am just reading The Advertiser (local statewide MSM) and it says that Fielke stated that Josie and Shannon Murray, Gus’ mother Jessica and Gus’s younger brother Ronnie were all on the property when Gus disappeared.

I am not sure what that means though. The property is huge. It could mean the original story is correct. It could mean that it is not.

He stresses that Gus' parents are not suspects in Gus' disappearance.

Shannon's lawyer says they have been cooperating but they aren't commenting (to the media).
Josie's lawyer was contacted for comment. Presumably they haven't heard back as there is no comment from him in the article.

I think it’s possible his mother did know something. Maybe not directly what happened but.. they said to wait to call and —- left and we called when they were back, he was gone for longer, they were abusive, they told me to say we were with the sheep because little brother would be taken… I don’t know, something version of that.

I think she finally came forward with what she knew.

Which cleared her as responsible or knowing factual information or just manipulating story a bit and allowed them to take steps forward

I asked this a while back, as it’s normally a piece of information that is given to media by police.
I find sometimes it helps to look at what has NOT been said

If Jessica and Josie were shearing sheep miles away from the house, as stated, they were still on the property, so that does not clear much, apart from clearing that there was no one else but family around that day.

Yes, I think that is what he meant. Because he went on to say that they had determined where everyone else was (neighbours, locals, etc).

I don't think there would be a helicopter at Yunta, maybe Port Augusta. But is it free to come, or busy somewhere else? How long before they get on to a pilot? And a doctor?

Yes, confirmed family members were the only ones on the property, but LE has already stated that the parents of Gus were not involved. So that only leaves the 2 grandparents as potentially involved. Perhaps only one of them, who knows?

Depends whether they meant "property" or "homestead".

There's another possibility as well. One that I'm leaning towards...

It's possible that Jess and her baby were asleep, the night before Gus was reported missing.

. And something bad happened to little Gus that night---possibly Josie lost her temper and accidentally punished Gus too severely? Or an accident of some kind maybe?

And so the GP'S, or maybe just Josie, disposed of the evidence and the child that night...maybe using the motorbike?


Then early the next morning Jess fed her baby, and she probably thought Gus was still peacefully sleeping? And Josie said "let's get an early start on the furthest fields today---and go mend those outer fences."

And so Jess had no idea. She expected to be back that afternoon to see her 4 yr old for supper.

Ours is on standby 24/7 with both pilot and Medical Team, so unless they are on another job they will come …. They will also divert if there is a more serious/urgent job somewhere else … a child in great need (paediatric trauma) would out triage most other emergencies…..

But yes, I was assuming a helo would come from a larger town…..

IIRC there was a Police chopper called in the first night?? So not unachievable…
