You need a location to search, and there very well may be searches going on that we know nothing about.
John Miller was talking last night about how they’re doing everything at once, and not focusing on a single avenue.
So you’d have investigators looking at the ransom, people close to the victims, convicted offenders in the area, analyzing phone data/surveillance etc.
Ah ok, so the fact that they aren't searching the actual land means they are probably still searching surveillance and analyzing data, and once they have answers from that 'search' they might start searching land.
In Haro's case, they had their prime suspects so they probably analyzed some data and used that to find a location to search. Although they have not in fact, sadly, ever located the poor baby himself.
