“Anyone with information regarding Jones, whose date of birth was May 24, 1993, is asked to call Cold Case Unit Detective Andrew Davis at 615-862-7720,” MNPD said.

“MNPD would like to thank retired Detective Matthew Filter, the Medical Examiner’s Office, DNA Investigative Solutions, Othram Lab, University of North Texas Center for Human Identification (UNTCHI), National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the media for their assistance with this case.”

Just saw a Facebook post that tells Yadezia's story. Her family thought she was still alive and said that they had seen the Vandy Jane Doe posters but that they didn't think the reconstructions resembled Yadezia :( She had a troubled life and was never reported missing because Yadezia's friends told her family that they had allegedly seen her.

About the Vandy clothing - Yadezia stayed at Vanderbilt Hospital and got the clothes from there. Seems like we were looking at the wrong Vanderbilt.
The Hospital is part of the school, but you would think maybe the police dept would be aware that when the hospital gives clothes to folks the clothes come from their in house store? I kept thinking it was someone who went to a game and purchased everything... the clothing is all very expensive....but now I'm thinking back to visiting family at the hospital there and their gift shop is loaded with branded apparel.

I hope they find out more about who could have done this to her. I initially thought she was a runner and this was a hit and run. Nothing in the namus report leads me to believe there were fractures associated with trauma. Unfortunately, a lot of folks will try to dump the body of a "friend" who has suffered from an OD just to save their own skin. I'm not saying that is what happened here, but it's a strange case with family not reporting her missing because "friends" said they had seen her around. That in itself is suspicious behavior to me.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, as part of a longstanding collaboration with Othram, has now identified a 2018 Jane Doe previously known as Vandy Doe, as Yadezia Jones. An investigation into her death continues.

After Eight Years, Vandy Jane Doe is Now Identified
Nobody wants to get the news that their loved one has passed, but the family has answers now. Our sincerest condolences to Yadezia's family.
We will announce this during our Websleuths YouTube Live broadcast tonight. ASAP, we will have an Othram rep on to discuss the case.
Thank you. I love our Othram team.

There is a man on her personal Facebook page claiming to have information about what happened to her. I’ve contacted detectives although I’m sure they should be watching her page. Just in case.

I wonder about “friends” and a possible OD, too. Happened to one of my students’ mom.

Do we know when she was at Vandy hospital? I’m surprised they gave out clothes like that. There’s a former Vandy football player serving 29 years in prison for extensive charges involving raping a teenager in 2023. It was a grooming situation of a family friend’s child, but it was the second time he was charged with that type of crime (previous victim was another teenager but not a family friend). The first time he had agreed to plead guilty to statutory rape, but charges were dismissed after 2 years of supervised probation. I’ve always wondered if he could be connected, even though he was never violent (in a murderous way…statutory rape is inherently violent) and Yadezia doesn’t quite match his victim “type.” And now that we know she was 25 years old, it lessens the likelihood he was involved.

'In their press release, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department shared their gratitude for the numerous agencies who assisted in the investigation over the last seven years.

They emphasized that they are still investigating Yadezia’s case, and ask anyone with information to call Cold Case Unit Detective Andrew Davis at 615-862-7720.'

FYI you need to hit the little 'Report' at the bottom of the post and request it to be done.
In this instance I've just done it.

I'm glad she has been identified. I hope she can get some peace in death that each of us struggle to find in life.

DNA Investigative Solutions - not a company I'd seen mentioned before. This is the only public solve listed on their website DNA Investigative Solutions

When speaking directly to MNPD, they state their inhouse genealogists solved this, PD is adamant DNA Solutions did not solve this case. When I reached out to DNA Solutions to ask for an interview, they declined.

The DNA profile in this case was built by Othram. Othram did the uploads to the genetic genealogy databases and did the initial genetic genealogy research. A report with leads was produced and sent to the agency and the agency used their own in-house resources to complete the work and identify the woman.

This is all outlined here: After Eight Years, Vandy Jane Doe is Now Identified.

It is always good to talk directly to the investigating agency. They will always know most completely what happened.

A websleuther had actually suggested Yadezia to Detective Filter many months before the solve.

Impressive. That would not be the first time someone on this platform made a recommendation that was right.

She had a court case dismissed about a month prior to her body being found. With the court history, it appears she had some issues going on. Hopefully the murdered will be found and justice will be served.

So honestly, it was that websleuth who solved this case rather than DNA. Oftentimes there will be a new lead in the middle of DNA work. Kudos to them.

That person generated a lead but DNA testing and a full investigative process was necessary to solve the case. Many leads on this site don't pan out.
