Re how NG would have reacted, my take on it is that I'd expect her, or anyone, do most likely do exactly as instructed, when being held at gunpoint.

I wouldn't be surprised if LD's mom was behind the TV interview. Imagine being a 77-year-old lady, minding your own business in your own home, when suddenly a SWAT team swarms the house, apparently without any explanation, then proceeds to break down doors and ransack the place. I imagine she wasn't happy with everyone in the community knowing it, either. I could definitely see her saying, "Oh yes, you will go on TV and clear our name, boy."

My feeling is LD's appearance may or may not mean anything. I think it would be the norm to want to appear clean cut, considering the purpose of LD and his mother granting the interview in the first place. I've also heard that LD's clothes might be typical "business casual" attire in the region. And desert temps change drastically, warm during the day at that time of year, but quite cool in the morning and evening. That might also figure in.

And/or, LD could have been trying to cover up, whether his general shape, tats, heroin tracks or evidence of having been in a fight or a struggle with a rough environment.

It would be so great with these cases to get a peek behind the curtain and be able to know what LE knows. Guess we'll just have to wait for it to appear on Dateline again, though.

That poor lady. My god, what is wrong with people. :(

Totally agree. In addition, we know that the federal warrant wouldn't have been approved by a judge unless there was persuasive and convincing evidence that LD could have been the perpetrator. I feel that the FBI and LE were doing their job and there is nothing to apologize for. While I don't necessarily believe LD is the perp, he hasn't been cleared by the FBI and LE and he still could be a suspect.

A federal warrant is a legal document authorized by a federal judge or magistrate based on probable cause, empowering federal law enforcement (like the FBI or DEA) to arrest an individual for federal crimes or search for evidence of violations of U.S. federal law. These warrants are typically issued after extensive investigations or grand jury indictments.

Key Details About Federal Warrants
  • Types:There are two main types:
    • Federal Arrest Warrant: Authorizes the arrest of a specific person to be brought before a federal magistrate.
    • ,,
    • Federal Search Warrant: Authorizes agents to enter, search, and seize property (evidence) from a location.
  • Scope: Unlike local or state warrants, federal warrants are valid nationwide.
  • Issuance: They require federal law enforcement to present a written affidavit proving to a judge that a federal crime has occurred and that evidence or the suspect will be found at the designated location.
  • Validity: They do not expire and remain active until the suspect is in custody.
  • Execution:These warrants are often executed by US Marshals or special agents from federal agencies.

If a federal warrant is issued for you, it generally signifies th

He wasnt arrested. It appears they had a federal warrant for searching .He wasnt arrested. 2 kinds listed above. I don't see, in light of the high profile of this case, that it would be that difficult to get this warrant. It, imo, was a search warrant. LE knows who the friendly judges are. IMO, this aspect has been conflated. JMO

LD is a convicted felon that is currently out on lenient parole and has another current pending case for drugs and possession of a firearm by a felon. I don't feel too "terrible" for him if they went by a federal warrant. CP with his family at the time has my understanding.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that he (LD) deserves sympathy of any sort. I mostly just meant that if he *isn't* responsible for NG's disappearance and was working on getting his life back on track, that sucks for him.

Seemed a bit defensive to me, as he said:

Still not the best messaging. I don't understand the need to explain some things in detail, yet say you're not commenting to maintain the integrity of the case. We have a PIO member on here that can perhaps further comment on this.
Yes - posted upthread earlier today about what I would have advised him to say. :)

This is attention seeking behavior. It’s disrespectful. Two was random people out treasure hunting in front of a kidnap victim’s home. IMO

Random Things that puzzle me:
If she was asleep, how did the blood spatter containing mucus end up outside her front door? If this occurred while she was asleep, did she get up and answer the door and get punched in the face? If they pushed her back inside, disabled her and took her out through the garage in the trunk of a car, that would explain the blood and no footage of her exiting the house—I would think LE could rule out exit paths from the footage they have.

If she was asleep, and rudely awakened, could she have been startled and had a heart attack and died?

How do the kidnappers think they are going to get the money and escape?

I think the demands for 100,000.00 was an idiot who was trying to jump on the bandwagon.

Jen Coffendafer (sp) flat out named the son-in-law and said she had fbi source that she trusted. I found that odd. The next day the sheriff said info from streamers was incorrect. Did the FBI asks her to do that to “rattle the cage” so to speak?

Two days later, LE impounded a vehicle from the family.

Someone mentioned that the Tucson Rock and Gem show was happening around that time; said Guthrie’s $$$ came from gemstones. Said neighbor was involved with the show.

I typically think LE has info they’re not releasing but I think an arrest would have been made by now—but without a body—can’t make a case.

I tend to think it may be a woman; that mustache looks like it was drawn on by magic marker. Hard to tell with the low quality. Would a man wear a pistol pointing at his crotch? Odd placement. Perhaps inexperience? Would be odd for a woman to do this.

Anyway, just some thoughts. So far the only fact I’m aware of is the video and the car being impounded.

Just some thoughts.
There was mucus in the blood?

To be honest I am worried that Nancy will not be found for a,very long time if ever.

Sorry if this has been covered, but has there been any discussion of a system such as Life Alert at NG's house? One might think that with her age and mobility challenges, having a system installed in case she fell might be a good idea.

If there was a system like that, would the perp have to know that it existed?

Also, I can't take any credit for this idea - a friend outside of WS mentioned it and I thought it was interesting.

MOO.
Legitimate question!
I believe it was stated here in the past that Nancy did not have Life Alert and probably partly relied on surveillance cameras and pacemaker instead.

I don't think anyone here knows NG's traits, how she deals with situations. SG would have a fairly good idea how NG would deal with this situation. We know her physical condition, health, mobility etc. For example had she been in the army, police etc. we could make some reasoned comments as to what she might do in a particular situation.
I agree, the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. So discussing NG's history with her family is the best thing to do. But I would also suggest that NG's friends be interviewed as well. Sometimes female friends will know more about a woman's personal issues than the kids.

If NG's blood was found at the crime scene, it raises the issue of how that happened.

And also none of us know what exactly we would do in horrific emergency conditions. We can feel certain about how we would react, but until it happens, we don't know.

As a therapist I have talked with people who have undergone severe emergency situations who were shocked by their own behavior. Some people freeze and cannot move. Others pull kids out of burning cars. Often totally out of character.
Sometimes people don't even have a memory of what they did, but witnesses tell them what happened.

I wonder this too. The longer this case goes on the more I think it might've just been 1 perp. If there were 2 perps maybe the getaway driver was solely given the responsibility of getaway driver and lantana man was the only one responsible for entering

I wish they'd just say Porch Guy.
Using the initials PG made me thing it was a Guthrie family member they were talking about, and I lost track and got confused.
Is there a list of what all these abbreviations mean? I’m constantly seeing numerous different ones and have only figured out a few.

Ooh, that's a good idea since we now have a forum. I think I've seen other abbreviations lists somewhere (not this thread/forum) that explained like IMO, MOO, JMO, etc... Maybe someone good with creating lists and knowing the players could create one??

I prefer Lantana guy to Porch guy, I like to think it will chip away at his ego. He will always be remembered as the idiot fumbling around with the Lantana. I hope it kills him inside.

His old car (the Dodge Charger) was sitting in the driveway, with severe damage to the front. The warrant would have been for that one, you’d think. The fact that it wasn’t taken (except by the insurance company, later) suggests they had something significant in mind about the Range Rover. It didn’t pan out, obviously.

I can't get the damaged Dodge Charger out of my mind. Isn't it common for perps to get into crashes from the adrenaline, distractions, and panic in the heat of the crimet? We see it all the time. What if that car was the one that should have been inspected? It was the vehicle he owned on the day of the NG abduction.

Perhaps LE was tipped off to check out LD, and since the RR was his vehicle on record at the time of the SWAT raid, they focused their search in the RR when they should have been looking at the Charger.

I didn't know he was working to get his life on track?

He was just arrested 10 months ago (1,000 opioid pills + felon w/firearm 9mm semi auto) while on parole with a jury trial coming up on May 19, 2026 and that case will likely send him back to prison (he prior served 18 months in 2019). I mean I'm all for giving people a third or fourth chance, but idk.

Did he get the range rover back? (I think he said he did in the interview).

Wow. This was amazing. JF was one of the former FBI profilers that BE had on for an interview. There are a couple of other episodes focused on Nancy that I also found interesting, but this episode is a message directed to the perp or perps.

I think they have their people and it’s coming. LE only get one chance to make this stick and with the intense media and online scrutiny on this case they need it to be rock solid. They’re gonna find who did this and bring Nancy home.

I hope you are, right but this, case is bizarre-- as far,as we know there has been no communication with the kidnappers and despite pleas from Savannah Guthrie and up to a million dollars for information as to her whereabouts dead or alive it seems there has, been no progress--- I hope and pray there are things happening we are unaware of that will end this mystery and bring Nancy home one way or another

1. If there is no blood in the home, then it is possible NG came to the front door and was punched in the face there on the porch?

2. If she was frightened in bed by the intruders and died suddenly, how did her blood get on the porch?

3. I admit I had the same odd thought about Lantana Man being a female trying to look like a man. All the added on clothing. The double masks. Strange eyebrows. A mixture of gender behavior. And the crotch placement of the gun was a brilliant and humorous touch.

I'll be honest, I don't know a lot about him. I stopped digging into him after we were asked (by Sillybilly) not to continue to speak badly of him and his mother.

It sounds like his vehicle was returned to him, as mentioned in the interview by his attorney in this interview with BE. That's all I have to say on the topic of LD. If he turns out to be the person responsible for NG's disappearance, I will join the hoards of people who dislike him.
