AB Canada: Jordyn Dines, age 16, body found July 4, 2025, homicide

  • #41
If the car was stolen in Calgary on Friday morning to transport Jordyn to Southern Alberta, then she was not at the Chinook Mall prior to leaving Calgary. She was somewhere else.

Jordyn was at the Chinook Mall on Thursday. The car was stolen on Friday. She could not remain at the mall overnight Thursday.

She could have left Calgary in another car on Thursday. That suggests the car that was stolen on Friday was for the specific purpose of moving her body to the location where the abandoned stolen car was found.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit is investigating the death because it has been deemed suspicious. There is evidence that Jordyn's death was not an accident.

Interpreting what we know can be tricky.
  • There was an abandoned car 200 km South of Calgary.
  • The car was stolen on Friday.
  • Jordyn's body was found in the car on Friday.
Where was the car was before it was stolen?
  • Was the car stolen in Calgary?
  • Was the car stolen in Southern Alberta; e.g.: Lethbridge, Pincher Creek?
Jordyn was last seen in Calgary on Thursday.
  • Did Jordyn leave Calgary on Thursday, or Friday?
  • Was the stolen car used to transport Jordyn from Calgary to Southern Alberta?
  • Was the car stolen in Southern Alberta to transport her body to the location where the car was abandoned?
"The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) manages and investigates:
  • homicides,
  • suspicious deaths, and
  • missing person cases where foul play is suspected."

Very odd indeed, such a wide request for assistance from the RCMP.

“The RCMP has asked for assistance from the public in determining what Dines was doing between being seen at Chinook Centre on July 3, and being found dead near Glenwood the following day.”

Yes by now forensic investigators should be able to determine if she died inside the 2009 Toyota or was her body staged in the vehicle later, raising the possibility her death occurred some other place on Thursday night.

Bodies are found in a field or ditch 20 miles in some direction outside of a city, but a body in an abandoned stolen vehicle is unusual. Why did the suspect leave the body in the stolen car?

The stolen vehicle adds another level of evidence, so it must have been necessary rather than a choice. Why was a stolen car necessary? Suspect doesn't own a car? Suspect owns a car but didn't want it near the body? Two people were involved - one to move the body, the other to drive two people away from the body? Why not put the body in one car, leave it in a field?

Were two cars used to take Jordyn from Calgary and Glenwood, or one???

Two cars means the suspect drove his own car out of Calgary with Jordyn, then used a stolen car to move her (body). It also suggests the car was not stolen in Calgary.

One car means the car was stolen in Calgary, and Jordyn left Calgary on Friday - so someone must have seen her after she left the Chinook Mall on Thursday. Where did she sleep? This suggests that the suspect does not own a car, but wanted to abduct Jordyn and take her to an isolated location.

Two cars means she probably left Calgary on Thursday.

Any thoughts on why a stolen car was necessary?

No updated news reports today.

The way it’s being reported, the body found in an ‘abandoned’ car is unusual. Without reading further to learn the vehicle was stolen earlier in the same day as she was found, one could assume the car was abandoned on the side of the road on some earlier date and the body placed inside. LE are also not asking for information connecting this vehicle to Chinook Centre or travelling from Calgary. That’s why I’m led to believe it seems it was not stolen in Calgary.

But there must be a good reason LE are intentionally not releasing much information about it, specifically the location it was stolen from. Two other people could’ve been involved or it’s not very far to walk into Glenwood, and phone to ask for a ride from a buddy if the first vehicle was dumped near the location where the 2009 Toyota was stolen from, re - ran out of gas or mechanical malfunction. My questions - when it was stolen was it unlocked, keys inside (anybody know about that?) or was it locked, broken into and hot-wired. Would a 16 year old rebellios girl know how to hot-wire a vehicle? Details about this vehicle will unravel this investigation IMO.

Moo..the person did not report it stolen. So maybe car went missing Friday or Thursday or whenever. Decades ago I was a prairie girl, to party you either hitchhiked or got a ride (in probably stolen or sort of stolen auto) and often went a 100km to party. It's kind of a prairie lifestyle. Moo

Stolen Vehicle:

Vehicle was not reported stolen, but had been missing since Friday morning. Body was found in car later on Friday.

"RCMP say the vehicle where she was found had not been reported stolen, but the registered owner said it had been missing since Friday morning."

Peculiar right...
What would stop u from reporting your car missing???

Maybe u had a clue who had it??

Timeline from 2:45 PM on Thursday to Friday is missing time.

"RCMP investigating the suspicious death of a 16-year-old girl have released a photo of the vehicle where her body was found.

Officers discovered Jordyn “Rylie” Dines lifeless inside a 2009 Toyota Camry on Friday, July 4. The vehicle had been abandoned approximately 1.5 kilometres west of Glenwood, a village about 30 kilometres northwest of Cardston., Alta.

The Alberta RCMP major crimes unit says Dines was last seen alive at Chinook Centre in Calgary at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 3.

Investigators are working to determine the teen’s activities after that time."

The owner might have used the car in the morning, parked behind the house, didn't need the car during the day, then heard from police that it was 200 km South of Calgary.

The owner has confirmed that the car was at home on Friday morning, but didn't notice that it was missing.

Moo .who knows when car was taken? They didn't report it

Moo...it is not unheard of to let family of friends use auto.... but if stuff happens...well damn...sure I saw auto last nite, parked as normal

Apparently it was noticed to be missing since Friday morning. Question is why didn’t the registered owner report it stolen, assuming he/she hadn’t given anyone permission to take it. Why wasn’t that person alarmed upon discovering the car was missing?

I wonder do LE believe the register owner’s story? Maybe somebody other than the registered owner had possession of the vehicle and it went missing from a different location. That would throw a kink into the investigation, trying to figure out from where the 2009 Toyota entered the picture.

I don't see anything strange about someone not noticing that their car is missing during a few hours one day, especially if the garage is a separate building in the backyard, or if the car is typically parked on the front street. Not everyone uses their car every day.

The owner knows that the car was where it should be on Friday morning. The owner doesn't know when the car was taken. The car was found later in the day South of Calgary. We don't know where the car was when it was stolen, but we know that stolen car and abandoned body happened during daylight.

Who saw Jordyn at the mall on Thursday and was there any CCTV footage of how she left the building. For example, was she seen on CCTV getting into a car.
The owner of the car said the car was still there on Friday morning, so presumable that means Jordyn didn't get into the car and leave the mall in it the day before.

Jordyn was last seen on Thursday at the shopping mall at 2:45 P.M. Police don't know anything about her movements after that sighting.

CCTV has probably provided some information about how she left the mall. There are gaps between Jordyn at the mall on Thursday afternoon, the car stolen on Friday morning, and Jordyn's body in the car 200 km South of Calgary later on Friday.

Jordyn may have left Calgary on Thursday, which suggests that the car was stolen on Friday morning in Southern Alberta. Alternatively, Jordyn was somewhere in Calgary until Friday morning, which suggests that the car was stolen in Calgary.

We don't know where the car was when it was stolen. I assumed that it was in Calgary, but we can't be sure.

If the car was stolen in Calgary, that means that Jordyn left the mall and met up with someone who caused her death. The person who caused her death then stole a car and fled to Southern Alberta on Friday morning with Jordyn in the car. That suspect abandoned the car, and then went somewhere in Southern Alberta that feels like home.

If Jordyn died overnight on Thursday in Calgary, then the person she was with should have called 911. If that person instead stole a car (because that person doesn't own one) and fled the city with the body, then it becomes a suspicious death. That also suggests that the car was abandoned close to the suspect's home, or close to a home where he is welcome. I think that also suggests that the car was stolen close to the location where Jordyn died.

The two car idea doesn't really work for me.
