GUILTY AL - Marco Perez, 19, faked own death, fatally shot Ofc. Sean Tuder, Mobile, 31 Dec 2018

Rest in peace officer.

Now Marco won't have to worry about too many more court date appearances, and neither will his dumb arse mother. He'll get life, hopefully, for taking that cops life away.

This is definitely one case in which we can 100% say the parents are partially responsible.
Tragic and unexpected outcome

Oh have no fear- we haven't heard the end from his wonderful Mommy, who will swear her son is a good boy and didn't deserve this.

I have no respect for any parent that defends their child's criminal behavior. We always told our kids- you end up in jail, you bail your own tail out, then come collect your stuff on the front lawn, as you are out of here. Never would we defend such BS- never. I love my kids, but love doesn't mean justifying or defending poor habits and behaviors. These parents that want to be cool mommies and daddies have no idea what they are setting themselves and their children up for in the adult years.

I am so shocked. I'd seen the whole fiasco of his alleged kidnapping on local news, but I did not anticipate this.

Steelslady, I respect you for your standards! My beliefs are the same and the children were raised knowing where I stood.

Too many mothers and fathers want to be their kids friends. There are no rules or punishments and these kids have never been taught there are consequences for misbehaving. It is found in all socioeconomic classes, unfortunately.

How will this mother live with herself knowing that by helping her son mislead the police, he killed an officer? Is there any chance charges will be filed against her? Accessory before or after the fact?

I had him posted in my missing persons discussion group, deleted him when it was disclosed as fake and I was simultaneously updating individuals who were located deceased. I remember feeling really annoyed that we ( as well as law enforcement etc)had wasted time and energy for this.....
Then moms arrest. .....
But I had to check several different links before I could believe the name on the article I read was this same " kid".

Thank you, and I respect you as well for feeling the same way. There are times in a child's life when you are their worst enemy (in their eyes), that means you are doing your job right. It is much easier to give in and say yes than to say no and stand firm. There were times when I felt like the meanest mother, only to find out later on in years that not only was it the right thing to do, but a couple of my children thanked me for doing so. I know for a fact that one of those times, my child would have been arrested for being with a couple of mischief makers, had I backed down- and you know, to be honest, who's to say my child wouldn't have been in the wrong? Sometimes, kids do something that they know is wrong because their friends are doing it, and they don't want to appear chicken. One particular time, I let my son out with a couple of friends, and an hour later, he came home on his own. I asked him if he was ok, and he said "yeah, I'm good, I just didn't want to hang out with them tonight". I found out later, they were doing something wrong, and had they been caught, they would have been arrested- they got lucky. I was proud of him for coming home on his own, and after that, he stayed friendly with them, but didn't hang out with them again.

So, do the right thing, raising them. Forget being their friend- if that is why you are becoming a parent, get a dog or cat instead. Kids need lots of love, guidance, patience, and at times, an enemy raising them. Being their friend and covering for them can be very costly later on in their life. Not all kids will murder, but they will get involved in things they shouldn't, given too much freedom and encouragement.

The father spoke at the beginning in the first article. Neither parent wanted to be on camera because they felt they might be the brunt of retaliation.

So, was the father bad too or just Mama?!

If he was in and wasn’t fooled by both of them, he‘s just as bad as mom.

Authorities: Police officer gunned down in Mobile, Alabama | Daily Mail Online

[...]

Perez’s history with law enforcement is lengthy as he was arrested in July 2018 for his role in a rash of 18 car break-ins.

This time, he was wanted by MPD for filing a false police report and theft of property as well as other probation violations.

His mother, Tiffany Perez, was arrested Thursday night after police said she helped Marco Perez fake the kidnapping in so he could evade police. She's charged with filing a false report.

Mobile Police said 20 officers wasted a total of 90 hours searching for Perez after he was reported kidnapped.

'This is a time for grief for us,' Battiste said. 'We are trying to make sense of how we could have another brother lose his life in less than a year. We're thankful to those who have reached out to us so far, but this is a hard time for us.'

More details have been released:

<snip>

Officer Sean Tuder wasn't scheduled to work Sunday, but he went above and beyond when he got a tip from a confidential informant saying Marco Perez would be at the Peach Place Inn.

Officer Tuder has been working diligently over the last month to try to take Mr. Perez into custody. We have arrested him previously on a number of breaking and entering charges.”

<snip>

However, Sunday afternoon he wasn't running from the law. Chief Batiste says he charged directly at officer Tuder within seconds of his arrival.

<snip>

“Because Marco Perez approached him, he had to take action before his back up arrived one scene.”

Chief Battiste says Officer Tuder immediately identified himself as a police officer, but Perez kept charging.

<snip>

“We believe, at this time, Officer Tuder never had an opportunity to fire a shot.”
