Food Network announced that the late chef’s final season of 'Worst Cooks in America,' starring co-host Gabe Bertaccini, will premiere on Monday, July 28
Anne Burrell’s final season of Worst Cooks in America will air just six weeks after she died at 55 on Tuesday, June 17.

The Food Network star took co-host Gabe Bertaccini under her wing for what would be her last season of the competition show, airing on Monday, July 28, on Food Network. In the series, the two celebrity chefs each manage their team of amateur chefs called “recruits.” One person from both teams is eliminated during each episode until one champion remains, who receives $25,000 and (hopefully) cooking skills that bump them from being considered one of the Worst Cooks in America.

Burrell, who had helmed the amateur-focused series since it began in 2010, “was so invested in it,” the Ciao House star recalled to PEOPLE. “It was her baby. She wasn’t there for the paycheck,” the 39-year-old said...

Anne Burrell cause of death has been revealed five weeks after the celebrity chef died at 55.

I thought that would probably be the case, but it's really sad to see it confirmed :( Poor Anne.

How very sad.

The circumstances/location made me think of Brittany Murphy.

Ahhhhhhh!
I spent years in the restaurant business -- Working in professional kitchens where I was the only woman - Dealing with the constant sexist comments, male ego, and even fighting off the 🤬🤬🤬-pinching and rubs up against me on the line! Then there were double shifts of Culinary School: 8 hours of class then jumping on my scooter to make it to work for another 8+ hours just to pay rent.

Anne Burrell had a similar experience - She shared about it in her books and her show(s). It was one of the reasons I had so much respect for her - Nothing was given to Anne - absolutely every accomplishment was earned with sweat, hard work, and raw talent. This woman was the real deal!

Although the food business has a high rate of suicide, I gotta say I am VERY surprised her death is being ruled this way. Perhaps we aren't being told everything about the scene... I mean she was surrounded by "100 pills" but I am curious about what kind. Her tox revealed Benadryl (diphenhydramine) Zyrtec (cetirizine), alcohol, and amphetamine. I guess it was the combination that killed her.

Suicide? That means intent. I keep wondering what was found to indicate she wanted to die? It seems, based on the information available, this was accidental.

The world lost an amazing chef. Heartbreaking. It would have been a personal honor to meet her. So sad.

I would guess the amount of drugs in her system showed it wasn't possible that it was accidental. Also, maybe she left a note?

I had a bit of head scratching over Anne’s choice of pills but of course we don’t know who had prescribed the amphetamine (possibly Adderall). But it seems like combining that with Benedryl and Zyrtec is odd. Then again I’m not well versed in suicide concoctions so I hesitate to make judgments… I guess I’m just feeling a little confused.

Maybe someone can connect the dots?

she probably just took whatever was available - someone in her home likely had prescriptions for the pills and then alcohol

very sad

I never saw any of her shows and really all I knew was that she was a chef on tv but my heart breaks for her and her family

It doesn't seem like a suicide concoction to me.

I would think accidental overdose, but I'm not the medical examiner and I don't know the details.

Someone who is depressed might self treat with adderall.

Glad I'm not the only one with questions, primarily how they determined this was a suicide?

This.

What are we missing? I am not saying I want to intrude into her and her family's personal business, but it seems there is information the public isn't privy to that makes this a suicide. A note? Behavior indicative of wanting to die?

I mean, in my humble and not-all-knowing-and-most-of-the-time-very-ignorant opinion... This screams accidental overdose. Even if she took tons of Benadryl, Zyrtec, and Adderal then drank too much - how does that add up to suicide?

I believe it could make a big difference to her family - wanting to die and accidental overdose are very, very different in how death is processed.

We don't know the amount of what she took. I'm completely ignorant of drug interactions and dosages, but she died in Brooklyn and this certainly isn't the first suicide that NYPD and coroner have encountered. I don't expect they would be fooled.

Rest in peace to her. She seems like she was a dynamo and bright light.

Too bad they haven't told us more in reference to how many pills she took. I remember with Heath Ledger, his mixture of pills and alcohol was ruled accidental and not suicide. It is hard to swallow that this loved chef who captured our hearts took her own life. As someone who suffered severe depression myself and was suicidal in my early 20s, I can say firsthand that I put up a strong front hiding my sadness. I pray that we as a society do more for mental health. I pray for Anne's loved ones . God gained a wonderful chef! May she rest in peace.

You put that very nicely, we’re not entitled to know the personal details. Perhaps her family wants to keep some things private and LE/ME is honoring that. Completely understandable.

But at the same time, they list the various drugs found in her system with no real analysis. So it begs the question.

Regardless, as I’ve said before. None of this changes my opinion of Anne. She was an amazing person, let her be remembered as she was in life - not how she left us.

I’ve watched the first two episodes, not the best in the series but still so very bittersweet.

The world lost an amazing woman. Sleep well Anne.
